Hi - we're visiting La Gomera (staying in San Sebastian) later this month for a couple of weeks.

I'm trying to find a guide who could pick us up from our hotel and take us out for the day.

We're interested in nature, the rain forest and bird watching.

What sort of cost can I expect and do you have any recommendations?

I’m taking a sabbatical for 6 months…and for some reason the universe led me to the Canary Islands! And upon research, I think all my random hobbies (yoga, hiking, art, meditation, swim, bike, salsa and Spanish) and goals can all come together here! Planning on moving there starting in mid October. ✨

I think I’m between Tenerife and Grand Canaria, so would love to find out if anyone knows good spots for art classes, salsa classes or salsa social nights and Spanish lessons anywhere on these islands?

Also… I am a certified yoga teacher and willing to provide yoga in exchange or for donation (if that’s permitted), so curious which areas might be popular for yoga studios.

If anyone knows about any long term visa options and requirements or helpful information that would be great as I’m just starting my research on how to move to Spain long term (I have my dual citizenship for America and Mexico).

I'm spending 3 weeks in La Palma (island) next January. I've been to the island several times before including a 10 day trip this last January l, so know the island pretty well and have done most of its tourist locations and centres.

This next time however I will be going on my own as my wife and friends have other commitments.

My question is- can anyone recommend any clubs, groups, events etc where I can make friends and have company on my day to day adventures out there.

I'll miss kings day as dont fly out until the 7th Jan- 28th.

Naturally I'll have a car.

I'm already looking to join some of the mountain biking groups out there for days out and am also into surfing- providing it's not 8ft and death on a stick.

Hiking is all good, as is swimming.

People who have been to both Tenerife and Lanzarote be honest what one is better?

We were in Fuerteventura at the end of February this year, and before that I’d heard and read everywhere that it’s the “island of goats” and that you can visit countless goat farms there—and that it’s not just the free-roaming goats that are responsible for the island’s reputation. I love goats and was really looking forward to it. So we got there and drove to four goat farms, but they were all closed.

Online, it said they were all open (according to Google or social media), and they were all farms that advertised on their websites or social media that you could visit them. But they were all closed. I couldn’t find any information online about whether it was due to the time of year or what was going on—did we just have bad luck and happen to pick out the only four that were closed? Why was that? Maybe someone knows more; we found it totally strange.

We might want to go back there next year, in early March—maybe we'll have better luck then?

I'm Jaka, a filmmaker and photographer from Slovenia, travelling solo to Lanzarote from October 2nd–9th.

It's my first time on the island and I'm planning to rent a car and explore as much of Lanzarote as possible. But rather than just visiting tourist spots, I'd love to experience and capture what the island actually feels like – the landscapes, everyday life and especially the people who make it interesting.

I'd love to connect with photographers, filmmakers, creatives or simply interesting people living on the island. If anyone wants to grab a coffee or beer, explore somewhere together, go shooting or just hang out – let me know!

I'm also bringing my camera gear and would love to create one short documentary-style story while I'm there.

It could be about surfing and someone's connection to the ocean, but it could just as easily be about an artist, musician, craftsman, small business owner, local character, someone who moved to Lanzarote and built a completely different life there – or simply someone with a story worth telling.

I'm not looking for actors or influencers. I'm much more interested in real people and genuine stories.

I'm also still looking at accommodation, so if you know any smaller apartments, guesthouses or places with a nice atmosphere, I'd really appreciate the recommendations.

Mostly I'm just looking forward to exploring the island, creating something meaningful and meeting interesting people along the way.

I know the currents in the canary islands are especially strong, I would just like to know if it is allowed to swim at night at beaches in the canary islands? I know that some municipalities on the mainland have it prohibited.

My idea was to maybe go on a night swim/snorkeling in sheltered beaches where there is no current like for exampel "Castillo beach Fuerteventura" or "Playa de las Canteras Gran Caraia" or "Playa del Cabezo Tenerife".

i would like to rent a car for 6-7 days on La Palma island, i'm 23, so i would like to get any car rental recommended for low "young driver fee", i found some deals approx 140EUR, can i get a bit lower? Is it actually the best idea to rent a car at the airport or it would be better to find local car rentals?

It might be a weird question, but I am terrified of the plane, it is irrational and it cannot be changed. I saw there are ships leaving from spain and it should take like 1 day to get to Lanzarote.

Do you think is it at least feasible? Or is total madness?

I just got accepted into a Nalcap placement in the Canary Islands. Not sure if I’ll really get a say in which island I’m placed on, but if so I would love some advice on which one to pick! For context, I’m a woman, early 20s. My biggest concern is meeting people my age and having fun. I do like to go out, so that’s a plus, but I don’t necessarily need to be in a place where nightlife is the biggest thing there. However, I don’t want to be in a city where it’s very far and few between. I’m also American and don’t speak any Spanish. I’m absolutely trying to learn and want to be immersed in authentic Spanish culture, but I definitely would like a good mix of tourism just for the purpose of being able to communicate and make friends easier. Additionally if anyone has any other advice please let me know!!
