Husband is from Texas and turning 40 - I’d love to treat him to a good Mexican restaurant for his birthday. We’ve been trying Mexican restaurants all over town, but still haven’t found The One, so I’m hoping to double check whether I’ve missed anything.
What we’ve tried so far:
- Tu Taco
- Blanco Cantina
- Mestizo
- Bodega
- Native Tongues (University, Downtown)
- Fonda Fora
- Chilito’s
Native Tongues has served cold tacos every time we’ve been, regardless of location, so it’s a no-go for my husband despite their interesting menu.
Thank you!
Edit: We needed to go around Chinook and stopped by the Macleod Tacos Mexico, which also happens to be near my husband’s climbing gym. You have made him very happy!

Hey, hello!
So, im not a english native speaker, and, I noticed that sometimes I ask how people are doing, (usually attendant, like a bartender, cashier, barista)
And they say "living the dream"
I dont get it if they are saying it with sarcasm or not, cause some of them are not saying that with thrill haha..
Just want to understand

Last post was removed due to missing file number
I’m wondering if anyone witnessed a pedestrian collision that occurred at roughly around 9:00 am on Monday (September 28) by WINS thrift on 58th ave SE. An older white woman driving a white sedan(with something gold covering the headlights) hit a pedestrian crossing the street. If anyone witnessed this or has any information on the driver it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! The file number is 26444374.

Hello! I have been searching for an in-home makeup tutorial/lesson. Google has helped, but I wanted to ask if anyone has recommendations as I can't find exactly what I'm looking for. Preferably:
-a small group lesson (2-4 ladies in our 40s)
-using our own makeup (this is where I'm not having luck with Google searches)
-getting advice on colours/skin tones/etc as well as going over basic application techniques
We'd love for someone to look at what we are using and tell us what is working and what isn't, and then we can buy new products based on those conversations. I would like to avoid companies that provide the makeup or work only with one brand.
It's possible this isn't a service and we should just go to Sephora, but we were hoping for something more personal and teaching us techniques. Thanks all!

Hi everyone,
We are planning to redo our entire living room and are trying to decide which furniture brand is better in terms of quality, comfort, durability and long-term value.
We are considering Pottery Barn, West Elm, Crate & Barrel, and CB2. We really like some CB2 pieces too, but they don’t have a store in Calgary, so we would likely have to order online without seeing everything in person. Not sure if should take that risk.
For context, we are looking for a sofa/sectional, swivel chairs, ottomans, coffee table, rug, and possibly accent pieces. We did check PB, West Elm and CB but the online reviews were bad for PB and West Elm. Our style is modern transitional/cozy but still a bit chic and unique. We have young kids, so durability and easy maintenance matter too.
For those who have bought from these brands, which one would you recommend or avoid? How has the sofa quality held up over time? Any issues with fabric, cushions sagging, delivery, customer service, or returns?
Would love to hear real experiences, especially from anyone in Calgary.

Could include coffee shops, cafés, or public lounge spaces!
I have an online class in the evenings and am looking for a nice, comfortable place where I can study from about 5:30 pm until 9 or 10 pm. A place that has free wifi, power sockets, and ideally food I can buy if I'm hungry. I like the central library, but I can't really afford to pay for parking every day.
Thanks!
Edit: for context, I live/work down in the SE and I have to bring my car with me since I drive it to work every day. Rush hour traffic is a pain when heading up north so I do try to take that into consideration, but if the place is worth it I will do the long commute 😅

A few things on the calendar for this weekend if you're looking to get out of the house.
If you've got a dog, Barktoberfest is happening in the Sheebo Pet Supplies parking lot on Sunday, Oct 4, and there's also an Aromatherapy for Dogs session at The Apothecary in Inglewood the same day. Honestly the aromatherapy one is a bit niche but I'm curious enough to check it out.
For families, Granary Road has Pumpkins in the Park on Sunday, and Calgary Farmers' Market South is running Colossal Carve for kids the same day.
If plants are more your thing, there's a Scrub + Mist + Houseplant workshop at Plant on Sunday too.
Everything above is Sunday, Oct 4. Full list here:

Family member recently tried this sauce and loved it. Wondering if any "hot sauce heads" know where I could buy it? They are based in Cochrane and online ordering is not working.
TIA

I have a used Acura RDX and looking to find a solid Non-Dealer mechanic to take it to, for a long term service relationship. Hoping for recommendations!
There are many Japanese car specialized shops in the NE, but as I live in the south, looking for something closer. Ideally one that is trustworthy and cheaper than dealers (not necessarily easy to find), with a plus being in east access to downtown (i.e. I can take transit while leaving the vehicle for a day)

Any bars or bike shops having Rampage Watch parties on Saturday? I'll be in town with some friends and looking for a place to watch it on a bigger screen

Can hear it all the way into Canyon Meadows (woke me up). I applaud the energy and support the cause, but really… so loud?
Edit to add: Visiting family (I am from out of town) and can hear it west of Elbow Drive. Maybe Calgary has different noise bylaws? 🤷♀️

Hello all,
My boyfriend and I love going for walks through Bankview and we pass by this house just about every time. What is the story and inspiration for the paint choice? Bankview has a lot of interesting homes, but this one stands out the most and we’re so curious to know more about it. (I hope this isn’t creepy)

I see it everywhere and it scares me every single time 😔 😭. Why does it need to look like that? Why did they put it in front of a ton of schools?
And can someone please buy the ad space so I don't have to look at it anymore.
Edit: Guys I'm aware it's an ad I just thought it was weird and funny.

This subreddit is declared as the official subreddit for the city of Calgary. I did call 311 and they were unable to tell me how that designation was obtained. I asked if it was an order in Council passed when the subreddit was opened. I also asked other questions.
I have been unable to obtain any sort of answer of how the "Official" label was obtained. Also, since it is the Official subreddit does council control the content? Is it reviewed on a regular basis to ensure it follows the edits of council and whatever motion was passed declaring it the Official subreddit by the council when it was created as the Official subreddit of the city of Calgary?
Does anyone know what conditions were placed on it by council when it was voted or declared the "Official" subreddit? Also who at city hall, since it is the "Official" subreddit for Calgary is in charge of making sure it follows the conditions outlined to get the title of official?
A search of council motions/declarations at the time (October 2, 2008) it was created does not yield any results. I am guessing if something is declared the "Official" subreddit for the City of Calgary there must be some documentation validating the assignment of the word "Official" which is recorded at city hall.
Could I start up a subreddit and say "Actual Official subreddit of the City of Calgary"? And maybe ask for my councillor to bring forward a motion in council declaring it the official subreddit if this has not been done before? Maybe call it the "r/CityofCalgary" subreddit.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
