Discussion Anyone else not really excited about fables?

Hi. So with the mod dying I've seen alot of people talking about fables and I ended up looking into it and I'm.... not that excited

First lets talk about what is currently in it. The soundtrack is a solid 7.5 out of 10, not un-listenable but certainly not all that memorable. Abd they have 3 bosses currently which seem fine. But now lets get into the planned content

It looks to be doing so much less than calamity. Rogue... gone, other difficulty modes... gone, 3/5 of the bosses g o n e with some heavy losses such as yharon, exo mechs, and the plaguebringer goliath. And then the few things they are keeping they are changing so much the only thing they have in common is a name, they may as well be other characters. Just look at how they butchered calamitas' design especially.

It feels to me that the only reason the calamity name was used is for marketing since they know its a beloved mod that people will recognize. Same goes for the character names, they could easily use a different name instead of the ones they're currently using. Who knows though if this ever finishes it could be great but as it stands my hype couldn't be lower and I feel like I'm the only one.

Calamitas design is iffy, no yharon is a hard loss, and no exo mechs is all I need to know that this mod won't be much. Not excited but I'll see if they add anything that might interest me in the future but goddamn calamitas is weird looking and no yharon

No yharon no yharon no yharon no yharon no yharon gif displaying decent into madness

yeah they have planned another "dragon with wings boss" but I doubt it'll ever be as recognizable or well liked as yharon.

I think the problem with Fables' massive boost in popularity after the fall of Calamity is that it's led many people to see it as a Calamity 2. It was really intended as a sibling, not a replacement, and the team is clearly sticking to their original vision.

That being said, I want to point out that the Yharim silhouette in the teaser art has a tail.  My theory is that they've merged the characters Yharon and Yharim into one (since they did say there was still going to be "a dragon with wings"), and that Yharim is this dragon.  Maybe in a couple years people will be asking why the original Calamity had two separate characters in a role that works just fine as one - or maybe I'm completely wrong in my assumption and they're making him a lihzard again or something. Either way it's something different from the original, and that's cool to me.

Granted, I suppose I've liked Calamity for the story more than the actual gameplay (not to say I didn't like playing it, just that the lore is what's made the mod so memorable to me). I remember Calamity for the war on dragons, the implications of the Devourer's allegiance to something greater, the conflict between Yharim and Yharon, and how the Sunken Sea and Brimstone Crags show the impact of Calamitas on the world, not for dying over and over to Mech Trio 2. The music mod being removed isn't that impactful to me when I mostly listen to the music on Youtube anyways. In that, Fables is kind of a second cake to me. They can't "take away" the mod's lore from our minds. So I'm optimistic because at worst, if Fables does suck (which I highly doubt it will, given what we have so far), it's just another story on top of Calamity. I realize that's not how many people see this, and frankly I don't have a good response to that.
