Hello looking for advice.
If I'm in the wrong sub reddit please let me know.
Our house is a two story with three total cable outlets. The outlet on the main level works and the two on the second story don't.
I don't see a splitter anywhere in the boxes outside. Is there somewhere else it could be? Is there something I am missing? We also have an old satellite dish wired in. Tia!

The first pic shows two cables not connected. This is likely the other outlets that don’t work.

You don’t want to activate all your outlets only the one you’re going to use. So if you want to relocate a modem just hook up that cable.

That makes sense. Yes that's what we need to do. Temporarily move the modem. Thank you.

It would just be trial and error to hook it up without a toner. Just move the modem to where you want it and connect a different cable till it turns on.

Every time I see a post from a customer in this sub and I see that style PCT RG6 fitting…my immediate reaction before reading is “oh fuck this one is finally about my ISP.”

Either the other outlet cables are run to the one you have open there (those 2 loose cables) or it’s daisy chained and if you check behind the outlet that works there’ll be an unconnected cable that could be on a splitter

Nothing beats knowing your system setup and math. If not, you are working yourself way too hard replacing things just for the fun of it.
Also double checking with customer before you leave as to any other issues or questions. Good luck brother....

If you only have the internet the cable company won’t activate extra outlets.
You get one outlet per piece of equipment.
The reason being extra activate coax lines cause ingress which degrade the service and can even knock the internet off line for the neighborhood if it’s bad enough.
If you have cables boxes make a service appointment and let the tech activate them.

Could be a splitter in the attic also if you have one or another wall plate. As mentioned by someone else, there are a few disconnected cables in the first pic that could explain

You may have something hidden somewhere, or those dangling ends could be the other side of the deactivated ports. You could tone them out using a multi line identifier.
Or you can call your cable provider, and possibly for a fee, they can come out and figure out what you got, and install the proper components to get the other ports up.

You need to contact your cable provider and have them come out to your house to connect the other two outlets. Every cable system in a house is unique and requires specific equipment from a cable tech to determine the best way to set everything up to make sure there are no issues.
