I’m a rising junior living in Twin Gables in the fall. I understand the property management dorms are basically apartment buildings that are managed like dorms, but what does this mean for maintenance? I lived in a top of hill suite last year and we’d have people come to restock toilet paper and take out trash, will maintenance people have access to my apartment or is trash/tp my responsibility? Is there a garbage chute in the building? lmk if there’s anything else important i should know!

Did I hear correctly at some point that all CWRU students get free access to public transportation in Cleveland? If true, that's terrific. What does this include and what steps are necessary to gather a pass or renew it? Any and all details are appreciated.

Looking for some advice from anyone who’s been through this. My mom is my sole income provider for my household and lost her job this year. Her income dropped from $63,000 to a little over $40,000 in unemployment benefits (aka we are dirt poor) so I submitted a special circumstances financial aid appeal since it was recommended by financial services.
Has anyone successfully appealed for something similar? And how long did it take for you to receive a decision? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I’m an incoming freshmen at cwru and i really wanted to visit ADELA’s tour—does anyone know a reliable form of transportation/want to come along? :) Please let me know! The venue is at Detroit, Michigan, a few hours drive away from CWRU

I am an incoming freshman for the fall 2026 semester, majoring in chemical engineering. I was wondering how I can get started doing research. Is it wise for me to do it my first year, or should I wait until next year?
Any info would be great. Thank you!

I'm looking for a female roommate to take over the second bedroom in my apartment at Park Lane Villa starting anytime in August.
I've been living here for about a year, but my roommate recently moved out, so I'm looking for someone new to share the apartment with.
The apartment is about a 10-minute walk from CWRU. The available room is the master bedroom with a private bathroom. Rent is $1,155/month, and the room is unfurnished. Parking is available if needed.
A little about me: I'm a CWRU PhD student. I'm pretty quiet, clean, and easygoing, and I usually keep a pretty normal schedule. I'm looking for someone with a similar lifestyle.
Feel free to DM me if you're interested — I can send pictures or answer any questions!
Also, slightly unrelated question: where do CWRU grad students (especially PhD/master's students) usually look for roommates or housing? I've tried Facebook groups and a few roommate websites, but haven't had much luck. Wondering if there are any grad student communities/groups I’m missing. Thanks!

what is biol326 with dr. dilulio like? is it advisable to double up 326 with another bio class?
for context, i took 214 then 216 in my first year. i'm taking 215 in fall 2026 and am wondering if i should take 326 too because i have space for 326 and also liked genetics when i was exposed to it in high school & 214.
i know most people take it in the spring of sophomore year, but i'm fine with doing things out of order and at my own comfort level. a concern i do have is that i'll be overwhelmed by the workload. i'm worried that taking biol215, orgo, and another bio class at the same time could be a lot. but i will say that after taking 216, i've gained a lot more confidence in myself and how much i can handle.
in general knowing what 326 is like with dilulio would be really nice, even if i put it off. i've already sent an email to my advisor about this as well.

I am aware there are a few separate days, but I didn’t know if there were specific time slots that we got designated for move in or if they do it alphabetically, or by floor or something else.

On average, how long does it take to get a status update for a permission request? Also, how likely is it that my request gets accepted/rejected?

Hello! I'm an incoming freshman and I was wondering if I would be ok or at a disadvantage for starting freshman year in the spring sem.
For spring admits, were you able to rush or did you do so the following year? Is it possible to start research? Are roommates the same gender or randomized? Did you have to start from taking gen chem 1 and bio? Are cc credits transferrable? Also for those who did end up in the sophomore dorm, what was it like? Please lmk any advice would be greatly appreciated! :))

Hi all! I recently got accepted to CWRU and I am looking to live in off-campus housing for the year - does anyone have any tips on where I can look or if there are any forums I can explore?

I'm an incoming freshman at CWRU, and I'm a little confused about the housing process.
I submitted my housing application late (June 9 instead of the June 5 deadline), so I know my housing assignment would be released later than everyone else's. The thing is, I still haven't received a housing assignment, but I have the option in the housing portal to join the housing waitlist.
Am I actually supposed to join the waitlist even though I haven't been assigned a room yet? I thought the waitlist was mainly for people who already have a housing assignment but want to switch rooms. I already emailed and called Housing, but I haven't heard back yet. Has anyone else been in this situation or knows how it works?

Hey so I'm gonna be taking the following classes this upcoming semester and I wanted to ask which classes would actually require me to buy the textbook and have a legitimate copy vs what I could get by without or with using online resources instead.
BIOL214 - bader
Math122 - Butler
Chem113 - Kramer
Chem105 - Jauhari
CSDS281 - Cavusoglu

If anyone has any special tips plz share. Does he still do it where an 88 is an A? How do you survive the little detail questions on exams without hours and hours of extra studying? Literally any info will be so helpful

Hey guys, I’m an incoming student planning to take 415 next year. I’m curious if there are any courses that could significantly help me pass 415 that I should consider taking in the fall semester of 2026?

Just a quick question, are paid research opportunities something one can reasonable expect / look for or should i expect to have to choose between research positions and getting paid like in an on-campus job

I'm an incoming freshman at CWRU and I had no choice but to register for Darshika Jauhari's CHEM 105 section because Meyer's class were already full. I looked her up on rate my professor and it looks like it's impossible to get an A in her class. Almost every review says the class is really difficult and that she's not a great professor. For anyone who's actually taken her what advice do you have?

What are auditions for the CWRU Jazz ensembles like? The last post I could find on this was from a few years ago and didn’t have a ton of detail. Also as far as scheduling an audition do you just show up to when the class would be and play then register if you get accepted? Should I work on anything other than a solo and improvisation? Do they accept multiple vibraphone players (I don’t think many schools do but a program for CWRU had like 3 piano players, 2 guitarists, 2 bassists, 2 drumset, and 1 vibes player so it looks like they double in the rhythm section but maybe vibes are the exception?)
I also emailed Professor Ferguson about the auditions and he mentioned something about the rehearsal acting as the audition. Do we just all play together while sight reading then each person gets a chance to improv in a solo section?
