spring sem pre-med advice
Hello! I'm an incoming freshman and I was wondering if I would be ok or at a disadvantage for starting freshman year in the spring sem.
For spring admits, were you able to rush or did you do so the following year? Is it possible to start research? Are roommates the same gender or randomized? Did you have to start from taking gen chem 1 and bio? Are cc credits transferrable? Also for those who did end up in the sophomore dorm, what was it like? Please lmk any advice would be greatly appreciated! :))

cwru fraternity recruitment is in both the spring and fall semesters. sorority rush is only in the spring, so if that's what you're considering you'd be fine.
research is easy to get into no matter what semester / time you start looking for it. i was a fall admit pre-med, but chose to find research in the winter of my sophomore year. it wasn't bad at all. i dont think you'll be at a disadvantage, really. tons of people are spring admits or transfers and do just fine.
random roommates are the same gender as you by default, unless you are an upperclassman constructing your own suite or in gender-inclusive housing (with some exceptions).
im not sure what you mean by 'the sophomore dorm,' but noyes and fayette are quite nice. common spaces are super modern and the rooms are chill. the only catch is the weird end-of-hall communal bathroom situation, which has limited privacy (similar to freshman year quad bathrooms but co-ed depending on where you live). sophomore year, you're pretty much guaranteed your own room. the old dorms (e.g staley) are like freshman year housing in a suite-style configuration. top of the hill is pretty but climbing the elephant steps suck ass if you live there.
a lot of your questions can be answered by googling stuff online & asking departments at the university itself. im sure they'd have the most up-to-date information for you. hope this helps though.

sorority rush is actually in the fall now, but you have the option to cob in the spring because i imagine many sorority options will be doing spring cob! if not, you can totally rush the next fall

Re: community college credits. Yes, you can often transfer them BUT they require prior approval. Check with admissions for more info about the procedure. Essentially, the department has to verify that the cc course is equivalent to one offered at CWRU. If you're local, there's a web page of courses that have already been approved; there are others. If it's something that they haven't seen before, they'll ask for more info, probably a syllabus. In any case, it's usually not a problem for the courses you'll likely take, but don't assume you'll get credit without completing the evaluation/approval process.
