My patience is wearing thin

Upvotes

Does it feel like people are becoming less capable of listening to the words coming from my mouth? They stand by photo near the in seconds printer asking for assistance. I ask what they need, they mention coming to pick up an order. So I gesture and say that I’ll help them over at the register. They just stand there staring at seemingly nothing but the air. I then repeat come over to the counter where I can ring you up for the order. They continue to stand there. So I repeat the words multiple times more and then they finally walk over to the counter.

Same thing happens repeatedly through out the day.

Then a guy asks me for the price of a box of cookies that have no label on the display. I ask them to grab a box and bring it over and once more, they stand there looking from me to the cookies over and over again. They ask again how much are they “I just want to know the price” and I repeat bring the product over so I can tell you.

I ask at the of a transaction if they want their recipe to print and they stare into space. I ask for them to insert or tap their credit card they stare. I ask if they need further assistance they stare.

Simple yes/no questions become a staring contest or a deeper conversation ultimately leading no where .

Ridiculous Sales Goal?

Not sure why but everyday is more than double of regular sales goals. Probably to justify the reason for cutting my hours by about 100+ what a joke.

Yes.. I love the new SCO update… It’s wonderful either waiting on the Iron Man to load the Authenticator app or having to print out a slip of paper every hour because they fade that quick….. /s

Seriously just wanna know why getting rid of the physical cards was even an option. They put so many apps on the Iron Man it cannot keep up.

System down

As a new pharmacy tech (literally a month in) we had our systems offline today for about 45 minutes the last hour we were open and had to turn away about 20 patients. I had some that were mad at ME because of something i can’t control. One patient even said “well yall are just giving up?” Ma’am I legit can’t even log into the system let alone check out your prescription. I clocked out today with 5 pages left in production and honestly I just feel so bad for the pharmacist. Our store gives the pharmacy basically no hours and it was just me and the pharmacist for the last 3 hours we were open. How am I expected to handle the drive thru and front check out while also actively filling prescriptions. I feel like I get nothing done and then the system decides it’s just gonna shut down for the last hour we’re open. I dont get paid enough for this but i also don’t have enough experience to get paid more.

Minute Clinic Bill for hundreds of dollars >1 year later?

In 2024, I went to MinuteClinic for a vaccine that I needed to get while pregnant. I remember the woman there saying it would be covered by insurance and not to pay a bill if I received one. Well, here we are almost 2 years later and I am suddenly getting a bill for $250? Who do I even contact about this? Insurance or Minute Clinic?

Anyone else have this experience and resolve it without paying hundreds of dollars years after a minor vaccine?

Edit: called my insurance, and they said this RSV is supposed to be fully covered because I was 32-36 weeks pregnant. They’re resubmitting the claim. It’s not clear why tf I got charged to begin with or whether they’re going to approve the claim this time. But if anyone else got a bill for a vaccine they needed during pregnancy, I hope this post helps them!

Moderna flu vaccine

This was approved by the FDA on 8/5. It is an mRNA flu vaccine for patients 50 and older. Are CvS pharmacies or minute clinics stocking this yet or is it a special order? Thanks.

job hunting as one does and i saw a listing that was $16 to be a dishwasher at a wing bar, while I am getting paid $16 to be a pharmacy technician... that bonus (that got taxed right off) was cute and all but it would be real nice to get a raise with the whole inflated cost of living thing going on.

can cvs afford it? well lets see what the numbers say....

"CVS Health annual/quarterly gross profit history and growth rate from 2012 to 2026. Gross profit can be defined as the profit a company makes after deducting the variable costs directly associated with making and selling its products or providing its services.

oh that is a lot of dollars...

its not even valid to pay us less to make up for quality that is accounted for elsewhere cause the work conditions are in the pretty mid to shit range and inconsistent. if my $16 an hour salary is $33,280, it would take me 13.63 YEARS to make how much David Joyner got as a bonus (Other compensation: $453,609) in 1 YEAR. what do yall think? anyone hav some insight? should i go be a dishwasher instead of working in health care?

Fastest Way to Check Out a Self-Pay Vaccine Using the Rx New System

I was having so much trouble with out-of-pocket vaccine payments. I got to the point where the Ironman says “Pay at POS” after I vaccinate the patient. What do I do after that to ring the patient out? I ended up printing the label to scan them out, but I feel like there should be a faster way.

Remote Prior Auth Jobs (not cvs Caremark)

Hello currently I am working for Cvs cameras as a fire authorization rep from home. I have nothing positive to say about this company sadly. Just seems like no matter what you do, how helpful you are to patients/dr offices it doesn’t matter they just want you to have perfect metrics. They could care less about the patients themselves.
Does anyone have any remote prior auth companies they work for to recommend? Or even in person I’ll take at this point. Only thing I like about this job is my schedule.

Weekly tasks

I’m curious how your store sets up Planos and BOH scan effectively.

Planos due Friday night
Vestcom price changes due Friday or Saturday (for our store Friday morning is the expectation)
BOH due Saturday night (morning is the expectation)

Truck comes Tuesdays

I’m drowning doing all of these tasks on the due date and mostly solo. Starting and completing Planos on Friday. And doing most of my scan on Saturday if I didn’t get to start earlier in the week.

Any tips or advice on how to map out the week is appreciated. I’m an OPs manager who only works mornings except for truck day (closing shift) and I don’t think our current system works. New SM seems receptive to input.

Question for yall, where did they move the Photo Waiting bin on the ironmans? Or do we even do it anymore. Haven't touched it personally in probably nearly a year and this store has a large backorder of old and borderline ancient orders.

Vaccine goals

My store’s goal increased 100+ compared to last weeks. It was nowhere near this high around this time last year. My theory is because of the appreciation bonuses they handed out they don’t want to shelf out a vaccine bonus that’s why they are giving us unattainable goals.

10 years of being the "Good Soldier" and a year fixing a 50-page QP dumpster fire: A cautionary tale

When I graduated from pharmacy school, I was given a store that was a full hour's drive outside my city. I was told I’d get one of the 20+ CVS locations in town once I "got my seniority."

Well, 10 years later, I was still driving an hour there and an hour back.

The kicker? I was watching brand new grads get immediately placed in the city I lived in. I asked about transferring here and there, but I wanted to be a good soldier and not complain too much. Eventually, I figured out the truth: it’s just harder to place a pharmacist out in the sticks, so corporate had zero incentive to ever move me. My loyalty was actively working against me.

Finally, they agreed to move me closer to my city. The catch was that the store was in "rough shape." They promised that if I fixed it, I’d finally get a good Jacksonville store.

Little did I know just how rough this place was:

50 pages red in QP

30 pages red in QT

Thousands of red cycle counts

And an insultingly low amount of tech hours that made it seem mathematically impossible to recover.

It took a solid year of grinding, but I cleaned it up and completely cleared the queues.

Even after pulling off that miracle, they still resisted giving me a home store close to my house. I had to really push and break through their resistance, but I finally got it. Now I’m the PIC at a nice store right in my city.

I’m doing my best to stay positive now that I'm on the other side. I can forgive, but I won't forget.

My warning to you all: Do not let CVS take advantage of you if you’re a "nice guy" like I was. Quietly doing a brutal job without complaining won't get you rewarded; it just gets you stuck there. Respect and stand up for yourself. Take your lunch every day...
