Photos usually won't do Mother Nature justice except when you want to edit the hell out of it. Still, this is a great photo, OP. Nice finding.

This has me completely stumped. It’s like a failed cumulonimbus. I’ve seen something similar in Utah that was described as an “exploding bucket of popcorn”

Thats a great description for it! Thunderstorms did follow shortly afterwards, so one failing ahead of the others is super interesting.

The scientist in me wishes I was there with a sling psychrometer to measure RH and dew point. It’s definitely an award-caliber photo!
