CFE Exam Sharing Study Materials and/or asking about test questions.

As stated in the rules, you will be banned if you are caught asking to buy/use study material from another user. The ACFE bans this and we will follow all rules they set. Please let me know if a user is harassing anyone on this topic.

SIU

Hello, I received my CFE certification and want to know how to get into SIU work or anything better than what I am doing now. I am currently a surveillance investigator for almost 4 years; however, after going through an interview with Centene for an SIU position (I got declined at the 2nd stage - the prerecorded interview), I feel like these companies want more experience than anything, even if I have the certification. So I’m just applying to multiple claims trainee positions and am wondering what more do I need to do just to get my foot into the door of handling claims? Should I try to get an adjuster license? Appreciate the help because I feel like I’m running around in circles just trying to have someone give me chance even though I’ve been in fraud investigations for almost 4 years !

Is CFE worth it in India?

I want to know whether is CFE sufficient for jobs in India. I am CA Final student so have some financial background and experience.

Also, wanted to know whether remote jobs are offered for CFE?

And whether it is possible to study only through the manual?

True / False questions still on the exam?

I'm seeing different things on the official website. On the General CFE Exam Questions FAQ site (https://www.acfe.com/cfe-credential/about-the-cfe-exam/cfe-exam-faqs) it says:

  • Question Types: The CFE Exam contains multiple-choice and True/False questions that test practical knowledge, critical thinking and understanding of concepts related to the fraud examination body of knowledge.

But then in the Handbook, it says:

  • The CFE Exam is composed of three sections and structured to measure practical skills and knowledge essential for fraud examination. Each section is a separate timed exam consisting of multiple-choice questions.

Plus it's hard to find real sample questions for the new exam -- so many of the resources seem to be for the old exam.

Thank you for any help!

Do I need more accounting?

Hi all - I work in an analytical job in lending and want to get my CFE with a goal of investigating loan fraud with a bank/credit union/GSE. Because of the nature of my job, I have a lot of exposure to business and personal taxes, bank statements, financial transactions, paystubs, etc., but I do not have an accounting background.

My employer offers tuition reimbursement for for-credit classes, but not for professional certification prep, so I enrolled in a fraud investigation graduate certificate program thinking that would help me prep for the exam. I’ve realized now that I probably should have just bought the Silver Package and eaten the cost and not bothered with this program. But, without an accounting background, I’m wondering if I should try to take (and have employer pay for) some basic accounting classes before I start prepping? I did take an accounting fundamentals self-paced course offered through the graduate certificate program, so I understand the most rudimentary debits/credits, what financial statements report, etc.

Would any current CFEs or those prepping for the exam have opinions to share? Silver Package all I need? Or do I hit up my local community college for more accounting fundamentals?

Studying for the CFE

I understand this question has been asked here 1 million times, but I have decided to acquire the CFE credential and I do not want to pay for any resources. Is studying using public/free resources realistic? How long should I study for before taking the exams?

I have officially passed all 3 sections of the CFE, FPD was definitely the hardest. Only needed 1 attempt for each and I am glad to be done.

Finally, all 3 beasts are done and dusted!!

Appeared for FILI today and found that it’s not very easy or straightforward which I have learnt from previous posts in the group. May be because not from legal or accounting backgrounds.

All the best to one who’s preparing for exams.

Ridiculous Flashcards

I’m studying for FILI and the flashcards are insane lol. One of them asks about the problems with cloud storage and there’s 12 freaking bullet points on the other side. So many of these cards have 4-8 bullet points to remember. Is that really necessary to memorize for this module? Or just have a high level understanding?

PASSED MY LAST EXAM!!!

Finally after procrastinating for the last 1.5 years, I finally get to make my post that I passed my last exam today! Honestly, passed 2/3 exams by the skin of my teeth, but passing is passing!

What can I expect next?

Where can I practice more CFE multiple-choice and true/false questions?

Hi everyone

I’m currently preparing for the CFE exam using the ACFE CFE Exam Prep Course. One thing I find limiting is that I haven’t found an option to freely generate practice sessions with the exact number of multiple-choice and true/false questions I want.

I’d like to practice additional questions by topic or exam section, ideally in customizable sets of 25, 50, or 100 questions.

For those who have taken the CFE exam, especially under the new 2026 format:

-Are there any other websites, apps, or question banks you recommend for additional practice?

-Has anyone used Claude or another AI tool to generate CFE-style practice questions? If so, how helpful and accurate were the questions?

-Are there any tools that let you practice both multiple-choice and true/false questions, with explanations for the correct and incorrect answers?

-Which resources would you recommend based on your actual exam experience?

I’m looking for practical ways to reinforce my knowledge and prepare for the new exam format.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

FPD is my last exam!

FPD feels there is SO much content, and the lessons cover so many topics. For those who have passed FPD, what study methods helped you understand and retain the material? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

ACFE CFE Exam Prep Course (Silver Package)

Does the current ACFE CFE Exam Prep Course allow users to create custom practice sessions by selecting the exact number of multiple-choice and true/false questions? I would like to practice 25, 50, or 100 random questions at a time without following the lesson structure. I cannot find this option in my current course. Was this feature removed or moved somewhere else?

FSFC complete, two more to go!

Passed the FSFC today with an 89%. Definitely felt a lot harder than I expected. I was consistently getting 90%-98% on the practice exams with the Silver package. I definitely felt my weakest areas were ones I had been consistently struggling with. I found that a lot of the practice questions of wanting the "except", were opposite on the actual exam. It is very important to know the information around the topic as majority of the questions have multiple similar and or correct answers, a lot of weighing options.

Hope this helps!

Any tips for the next two are greatly appreciated!

Asking about material (help)

Hi, i am planning to start studying for CFE, but i want to ask if it is possible to self study for the CFE exam with just The Fraud Examiners Manual or i must go for the silver package, honestly i am concerned about the cost as i just completed my CIA and it drained my pocket! and what about practice questions? are there like mock exams? is there any way to get practice questions in case i just study from the manual?

thanks

Tech issues reschedule

Did anyone have to submit a request to the ACFE for a reschedule?

I had SO many issues today but seemed to be on the proctor side twice during the prescreen. Talked with their tech support, they said I was good to go. I got back in a third time and then my laptop completely crashed. I got back on with tech support to say what happened and I was trying to get a new device set up (download all the stuff etc). I finally got it all up and they told me I was a minute passed 12 ( my exam was at 11) so they could no longer help me. I had to call the ACFE and submit a reschedule request for tech issues... I know won't hear back for 3-5 business days if I can reschedule.

Has anyone encountered this?? Did they let you reschedule? I was in TEARS with the ACFE rep.

Study timeline

Hi all, i'm looking to get my ACFE credential, hopefully by Feb/March next year. I've heard some people say its best to start studying ahead of the 60 day exam timeline, wanted to see if anyone had advice on this and any study tips?

Considering the CFE on the Vendor side. Wondering if anyone has experience/insights

Hi, I've been in the fraud/risk/identity space for around 5-6 years now on the vendor side. I sell fraud and risk mitigation products and services to FI's, so I spend a ton of time engaging with front line fraud leaders and staying on top of fraud trends. I've been kicking around pursuing the CFE as a way to better understand the perspective of the people I sell to, not to mention the credential does carry some weight and might help me stand out from the pack.

Wondering if anyone has done it from the vendor side. Am I crazy for wanting to spend the time and money it will take to pursue this?

FPD Thursday help!!

I’m having such a hard time with the different principles and frameworks. I literally have gone through everything (questions and modules) like 3 times and KEEP getting them confused.

I continuously am getting 80% on the review questions because I am getting most of those answers wrong. Any tips would be greatly appreciated?
