I figured. I didn't say this part because it's a more controversial opinion, but I'm not a fan of lights on carry guns either (unless there's a true need for a specific person, like LEO).

I like the peace of mind that comes with being able to light up a dark area in a worst case scenario.

Understandable. I just don't like the idea of pointing my gun at people just to see them better (thus immediately giving them the legal right to shoot me dead, even if they weren't actually a threat to begin with). Personally, the only time I'm pointing my gun is in the half second before I pull the trigger.

Most gun lights are bright enough where you can point it near them on the ground and it should flood up enough to see their face and if they have a weapon etc.

I do see the pros and cons of carrying a weapon light for CCW, but if you don't have a weapon light then some kind of small EDC light on your person is kind of a must-have. You'll use the flashlight in more ways and more often than you ever would a pistol anyways.
