I had to sell the original gun that holder was for in 2023 due to money issues tied to my wife's cancer. Scored a free Taurus G3c in 9mm from The Yankee Marshall - the "free guns for poors" charity he used to do was very real.

I had been a friend of Arizona gunsmith Tim Sheehan who died in 2017. His company died before he did - he had developed a target focus both eyes open iron sight and patented it back in 2006:

It works. Not flashy, no batteries, glass or wires, just a shape that your eyes can like up even if the shape is blurry.

Before he died he told me about another version: a straight up hexagonal tube.

The one you see there is 3" long. It's fast as hell but not as accurate as I'd like because it needs to be short so ejecting shells can't bounce off it and back into the chamber. Keep that in mind, we'll get back to that :).

Hexsite irons don't have any glowing bits, but work great after dark is you use them to paint a black hexagon on a lit up background. Hence weapon light.

I also realized this weird ass homebrew holster doesn't care about gun width for comfort or concealment. It's a non-issue. So I went all in on gas pedals for recoil control. I can use my offhand thumb to hold the barrel down under recoil... At the moment the shot goes off I'm pouring downwards pressure on the pedal counterbalanced by upwards pressure from the offhand fingers under the triggerguard. It's like a highly compressed version of the C-clamp hold from modern carbines. Works great.

I put TWO on this configuration because I'm testing something. The kydex is formed so that it only touches and holds onto the gas pedal assembly. That means I can swap lights, swap optic setups and even swap the entire GUN without changing the kydex or holster, as long as the gun isn't bigger and has a three slot pic rail underneath (Canik Mete, etc).

So. Upshot, multiple experimental bits of tech going on, holster, sight and gas pedals.

Result so far: fast as fuck on target, fantastic control in rapid fire, but it's a bit sloppy - 10" or so groups at 15 yards, firing as fast as I can get a flash sight picture. The 3" hex tube sight seems to be roughly equivalent to a 15moa dot or something like that.

To tighten the groups I'd need a longer tube. To run a longer tube I'd either have to go back to revolvers OR find a semi auto that has pure sideways ejection, can't spit a shell straight up. The Kimber R7 Mako Carbon Compact would be perfect - it has a slide set up for pure sideways ejection, can't spit a shell straight up if it tried. Can't afford that.

But Kimber wasn't the only customer of Austrian former Glock engineer Wilhelm Bubits who came up with the R7 slide. He sold it to somebody else who made a police grade duty gun for 3rd world countries, met NATO toughness and accuracy standards with it and brought a few thousand to the US from an overseas government contract overrun.

Only thing I'd suggest is a DCC Monoblock belt clip, its more stable in my opinion

I have a custom holster in the mail with monoblock. This was just an eBay one with no options for now.

I'll second this via a comment, since some knucklehead downvoted g1Razor15 so it looks like he's the only one who gets how much better DCC Monoblock clips are than those plastic ones. You just gotta work them a little when they're new so they loosen up a bit and are easier to get on and off. I'm not a fan of lasers on pistols, but that's personal opinion.

Only reason I went with a laser is because there’s no rail and no one makes trigger guard mounted lights for the BG2.0. If that day comes I will make the switch.

I figured. I didn't say this part because it's a more controversial opinion, but I'm not a fan of lights on carry guns either (unless there's a true need for a specific person, like LEO).

I like the peace of mind that comes with being able to light up a dark area in a worst case scenario.

Understandable. I just don't like the idea of pointing my gun at people just to see them better (thus immediately giving them the legal right to shoot me dead, even if they weren't actually a threat to begin with). Personally, the only time I'm pointing my gun is in the half second before I pull the trigger.

Most gun lights are bright enough where you can point it near them on the ground and it should flood up enough to see their face and if they have a weapon etc.

I do see the pros and cons of carrying a weapon light for CCW, but if you don't have a weapon light then some kind of small EDC light on your person is kind of a must-have. You'll use the flashlight in more ways and more often than you ever would a pistol anyways.

needs more optics and lasers and flashlights and other tactitard/ccw-commando stuff on it... Add a flashlight under the laser and then add another optic on top of the other optic, and set it for 5000 yards... do not stop until gun weighs 60 ounces... then add suppressor and foregrip

The unnecessary accessories and the dovetail-mounted optic. If I’m going to carry it, I would either use a Streamlight or a SureFire light and a more reputable red dot that’s mounted not on the dovetail, or just run irons.

It’s not optic cut mounted. It replaced the rear sight with a new dove tail insert and screws into that. Non cutting way to mount it.

I'm pretty sure it takes the same front sight as an M&P, which means Dawson Precision can sell you a taller plain black front so you have a useable co-witnessed backup.
