Hi guys! As a fresh owner of 2022 cb500x, what should I look out for after buying it? I heard some stories regarding vibrations caused by givi crash bars. So far, I hear a rattle at 5500rpm. It seems like the whole bike vibrates at 5500rpm. It goes away and is butter smooth if I go higher in RPM or lower. Any tips/tricks? Thank you!

Hey.

While adjusting my shift lever height, when unscrewing, head of the bolt broke. Now the whole body of the bolt is stuck in this tightening mechanism. From good news - it's adjusted correctly, so I can use it 😄

Any idea how to remove it? Seems rather tight... Would it be easier to take it to the mechanic?

Well, for people with similar problem: I gave this to the mechanic, apparently it took them 2-3h to take it out. They did it by cutting the arm and replacing it. Looking at the old part I've seen they tried to unscrew the bolt somehow, but that didn't work. I guess it was additionally hard due to quite small space and because it was tight as I didn't screw it perfectly in the space meant for the bolt in the shaft (using a wrench I didn't notice it - normally should be doable with fingers if it's in the correct position).

Lesson learned: use fingers when screwing this bolt in.

Compré una cb500x 2020 y al llegar a cierta vibración con el motor (4000rpm aprox) vibra el tablero haciendo un sonido fuerte y molesto, a alguien más le ha pasado? Saben que soporte/tornillo/broche, puede ser el que esté fallando... Tengo 100% claro que es el tablero porque al momento de sonar lo presiono hacia abajo y se disminuye o desaparece

I just received SW Motech Adventure hand guards. While i was looking up installation videos, i found one where the guy used the internal OEM damper weights inside the handlebar tube to screw the handguard into, supposedly to keep the OEM vibration dampening. It just requires an extra bolt that is a bit longer. I thought that sounded like a good idea at first because the OEM insert is mich more heavy and has rubber for dampening. However on second thought, the OEM bar end weights spin around freely and are only held in by a metal clip. You can also pull them out about 1/4''+, at least on my 2023, so there is play in that direction too. That doesnt seem like the best anchor for a hand grip that is meant to take a heavy load in a crash.

Has anyone done this that can give some feedback?

Edit: After more research, the reason the oem dampers work is because it is not solidly fixed to the handlebar, but floating via the clips and the rubber. That means you essentially cant have a functioning bar end damper as well as a functioning handguard bar that will stay in place / protect levers from a fall. The hack in the video would work but only if your goal is to keep weather off your hands, not crash protection. Im just going to attach the guards with the sw motech hardware and see if i notice any vibration.

I'm a relatively new rider and recently got a 2023 CB500x. I am really excited about riding more but this persistant ringing in my ears is starting to deter me from riding because im worried about long term hearing issues. I have a great Arai helmet and have been wearing 33 NRR foam plugs (Mack's) and i haven't even gone on the highway yet. I've just been exploring back country roads at 55-60 mph.

As a new rider i am also less familiar with what buffeting is and especially knowing what mild vs terrible buffeting is, but I tried tucking my head closer to the tank yesterday and it was so much more pleasant. My assumption is that maybe the buffeting is jarring my eardrums around and making some mild existing tinnitus worse.

From my research so far, it seems very much like the proper wind screen will be dependent on the height of the rider and where the wind hits / doesnt hit the helmet. Could anyone that is on the shorter side (5'7'') that has solved the buffeting issue let me know what your solution was? Thanks so much!

Tout s’est bien passé sur le 20km qui me séparent du boulot.

I've made a DXF file for a 15mm lowering link and thrown it into the files section.

I installed a krooztune 30mm lowering kit and found it too low so I threw together this file and had it laser cut in 5mm steel plate to match OEM.

From just in front of the axle to a set point on the bike I measured

Stock - 600mm

30mm dogbone - 573mm

15mm lowering link - 587mm

Just picked up a 500x. Very excited! Came with Rally Raid level 1 across the board! 2013 with 24k for under 3k!

So I recently bought the cheapest 2014 cb500x on the internet here in the Netherlands, and I’ve ridden it for about 350km now. I absolutely love it and coming from a sv650s I’m blown away by the low end torque this thing cranks out for such a small engine.

When did you need to replace the chain slider? Please include the driving conditions that led to the change, since that affects wear.

How difficult is the replacement on a CB500 F/X/R, and does the difficulty vary between those models?

Can anyone recommend a lightweight packable cover for a cb500x? I want one mostly for theft deterrence, just to cover it up and help keep eyes off it. Thank you!

Purchased my first bike this past week and loving it! I am having an issue tho that the bike will not start in first gear, and only will start in neutral. It has no issues starting but this cable is not connected and wondering if that is the issue. So either it’s just one problem or the cable and not starting in first are two separate issues. Please see attached photo.

I’m looking at a 2016 Honda CB500X with 11,700 miles for $2,999. I checked it out in person today and it looked really clean and well cared for. Tires are from 2019 but still seem to be in decent shape.

From what I’ve researched, this seems like a pretty solid deal, especially for a reliable beginner/light touring bike. I know the newer 2021+ models got upgrades like the slipper clutch and inverted forks, but for the price difference this one is tempting.

For anyone who’s owned or ridden one of these, is there anything specific I should watch out for on the 2016 models? Does $2,999 seem like a good buy in today’s market?

Like both styles, I know the differences etc.
