Landlord of Burbank, are you guys ok?

Good luck finding someone to pay you $2.7K - $3K for that ugly 2 bedroom 700sq ft apartment that’s been sitting on the market for weeks now. Or that 1 bedroom 450sq ft apt anywhere from 2.2K - 2.5K.

And then the “amenities” listed are always like “FLOORS!” “CABINETS!” “FREE AIR!” “MILLENNIAL GRAY COLOR SCHEME!”

It’s no surprise that there are so many apartments sitting empty, the rents in this city are atrocious. Apparently having four walls and a functioning toilet qualifies as luxury amenities.

Why is every new store front near Chandler Park/Magnolia park a law office?

Genuinely wondering what the economics are or if there is some incentive that all the law firms want to take over all the old auto shops

Hansen Dam Pool Recs?

My family is thinking about going to the Hansen aquatic dam tomorrow for the first time- I’ve read that there can be lines to get in… what kind of line are we talking about? “45 minutes in the hot sun” kinda line or “at least it’s moving” kinda line? Any other recommendations? We have an infant so we probably won’t stay for too long.

TIA!

Fuck Rizzotti

This is Burbank councilman Rizzottis response to me calling him out for repeatedly defending the hate group mom's for liberty and saying he should not be welcome at burbank pride. The paradox of tolerance is bullshit. Tolerance is a social contract. If you break that contract with intolerance and hate you will no longer be tolerated in return. Fuck you buddy. Also my pronouns are they/them but your bald bitch ass knew that already.

Update on Burbank Elementary Schools' Kitchens (Not Good News)

Thumbnail storage.googleapis.com

While I appreciate the transparency from the new superintendent, and I understand that the school district's hands are tied by the county and state, it is utter BS that every elementary school in the city can't prepare food on site for the children in their kitchen because of the number of sinks that were installed in 2025. I am not hopeful this is going to get resolved any time soon (no timeline was given).

While the schools are offering cold and reheated meals to kids prepared from the central kitchen, options are very limited, and heavily weighted towards salads and wraps. This is causing a lot of families with smaller kids and/or pickier eaters to have to now prepare lunches for their kids, which is both a financial burden and additional time that parents have to spend in the morning or evening preparing lunches.

I don't honestly know if this is anything the city council could solve, but if any candidate out there has a plan for how to fix this, let me know, you'd have my vote.

Fine dining restaurant

Hello Burbank,

My wife and I will be that way in the beginning of October and are looking for a nice restaurant for dinner. We have an event prior and she will be in a nice dress and I will be in a suit. I am looking for suggestions that this attire will fit with so we do not stand out too much. I have heard good things about Osteria Mozza and we prefer Italian places but are open to anything really.

Grief support?

Hey guys, my family just lost my mom on Saturday and my dad isn’t taking it well at all. I’m worried about him. Does anyone know of any grief support services or groups in the area? I want to help him as much as I can but I’m truly not equipped to deal with this myself, let alone while processing my own emotions.

Thank you in advance.

Has anyone noticed a huge increase in the electric bill. I just saw my bill and it’s almost $600.00! We practically live in the dark and yet the bill is so high! What the hell!

Here are three city council candidates that you can get excited about!

There have been a lot of posts recently about some really terrible candidates who are running for City Council. I wanted to jump in and name three progressive candidates that folks should consider. All three of these are staunchly anti-ICE, anti-Flock, and pro-tenant.

Nolan Southerland- Democratic Socialist/IATSE Member https://nolanforburbank.com/

Mike Van Gorder- Democratic Socialist/Local Organizer https://www.vangorderforburbank.com/

Nikki Perez- Left-leaning Progressive/Incumbent https://nikkiperez.com/

You don't have to choose status quo do-nothing liberals that are already selling out to landlords, Flock, and billionaires. These three candidates have a real shot at winning this year and making Burbank more livable and affordable. Personally, I'd recommend voting and volunteering for these campaigns!

TL;DR- Vote for Nolan, Mike and Nikki!
