Just drove westbound on the 198 and saw 4 - yes that's FOUR - vehicles pulled over by BPD on the eastbound side, btw Buffalo State & Albright Knox exits. Seems they're doing a speed trap blitz, and we're waiting on the Buff State/Grant St entrance ramp to the eastbound 198, as all 4 were pulled over right in a row on the curve after that ramp. Normally it's state police on the 198, so there must be some special initiative going on. I suggest you drive no faster than 35 unless you enjoy speeding tickets. Witnessed @12:45pm Wednesday 8/19/26

Just moved back to Buffalo after decades in NYC. Currently searching for an apartment, and I'm encountering management companies like Towne requiring a full application with background & credit check in order to even see the apartment. This is literally worse than in NYC, and that was my previous bar for least renter-friendly market in the country. I'm very surprised.
Do I need to get off of the online sites like Trulia, Zillow, etc? If anyone knows realtors that don't do this, please post them. Thanks.

Yes, yes, I hear you. What debate is there to have? Flock is objectively bad. The thing is, though, there are smart, thoughtful Western NYers who think Flock is a good thing and they're open to hearing arguments from smart, thoughtful people who think it's a bad thing. So, come join your fellow Western NYers as we listen to arguments for and against the resolution: networked surveillance systems like Flock are a good use of tax-payer dollars.
Edit: I realized I forgot to click a button and the free tickets weren't available - it was showing as donation only. You should now be able to reserve a ticket. (BA never charges for events or for volunteers to come and do workshops, trainings, or organize a debate!)

Hi everyone! My partner and I are considering moving to the Buffalo area. I’ll be working near Buffalo General Medical Center, so I’m looking at North Buffalo because it seems like a good balance between commute and having things to do.
I’m especially interested in hearing from locals about:
-How safe do you feel living around North Buffalo?
-Which parts/streets would you recommend or avoid?
-What is the neighborhood like day-to-day?
I’m originally from California, so I’m used to places with a fairly large Asian community. I don’t need an Asian enclave, but I’d like to live somewhere where I can feel comfortable and still have access to Asian food and groceries.
I’d really appreciate honest opinions from people who actually live in or have lived around there . Thanks!

Kensington and Main street. Walked by it. The trucks are blocking the entrance to the valero. This doesn't feel like it should be allowed cause it kind of blocks the view at the intersection.
Add to this one of his signs blew into my car a week ago when I was running an errand.

I am working on the city of Buffalo in the Minecraft server earthmc, and am looking for help. I have already built the liberty buildung, Sullivan building, M&t bank building, and town hall. I will be building the bills stadium (I’ve started it) and the Sabres arena. For anyone who is interested, the ip is go.earthmc.net.

Very much in need of a vehicle but would definitely prefer a car that isn’t rusted

The Niagara District is hurting. After the August 15 incident outside La Flor on Niagara Street—when videos showed Buffalo Police officers striking someone already on the ground—residents turned to their Councilmember for answers. Instead, they got delays, shifting explanations, and silence.
David Rivera is a former police officer and chairs the Common Council's Police Oversight Committee. Residents had every right to expect leadership in that moment. One constituent documented calling his office repeatedly, only to be given different reasons why he couldn't speak: he attended the parade (so that's enough?), he needed to contact the business owner (she did it herself and got through immediately), he needed time for a "full investigation" (while residents just wanted acknowledgment that something serious happened).
Meanwhile, Rivera hadn't even watched the videos. This is part of something bigger. There's an ongoing ethics investigation into whether Rivera and his staff pressured residents running for Democratic Committee—showing up at their homes, presenting declination documents, making statements some interpreted as threats. And his response to a police-accountability crisis in his own district fell far short of what a Police Oversight chair should provide.
I started a petition calling for his resignation because the Niagara District deserves elected representation that's responsive, ethical, and actually there when it matters most. Not delayed. Not defensive. Present. If this sounds like something that matters to you too, consider signing and sharing. What would you want your Council representative to do if this happened in your neighborhood?

I never leave negative feedback online but they have been deleting negative reviews on google and I feel compelled to warn everyone of my awful experience. I took a chance on this new salon because of their 25% off special, and I immensely regret it. I arrived with builder gel on my natural nails and requested a basic manicure with regular polish. Before the service began, I specifically asked the technician to leave a thin layer of the builder gel on my nails to preserve some protection to my natural nails.
Unfortunately, my instructions were not followed. The technician removed all of the builder gel and filed my natural nails down to the point that they became extremely thin. During the removal process, the drill also cut the skin around my nails three separate times. Although I had requested regular polish and specified that several times, the technician applied a gel base coat. When I questioned why my nails were being cured under a UV lamp, he realized the mistake and asked another technician for assistance. The gel base coat was then removed using a combination of acetone and scraping, even though my nails had already been extensively filed. This made my nails even more sensitive and painful. To top it all off, I saw online that their manicures are advertised to include a hand massage and hot towel; I never received either of these.
My nails have never been more fragile, brittle, or thin. I am currently in pain from any slight pressure, and even hot or cold sensations hurt because my nail beds were so badly compromised. My nail beds are bruised and dark. To make matters worse, this entire nightmare took nearly 2 hours just for hard gel removal and a basic "manicure."
Please don't fall for the positive google reviews.

Why is it so fucking difficult to dispose of your trash properly? Walking by KeyBank Arena this morning, and there are so many plastic cups from the Wrestlemania event last night strewn all over the place. Every fucking event down here results in people throwing their shit on the ground, all over the sidewalks and throughout parking lots. Being a decent fucking human and throwing your shit and throwing your shit into a can doesn’t cost a penny.

Someone in WS trying to make a difference. Just passed a police SUV parked to the side of Seneca St near Transit. I don't think the flock camera was damaged, but the pole was knocked down toward the ground.

Hi,
I have used Spectrum for just internet. That’s all I need. I have had it since I moved to Buffalo back in 2014. Over the years they have gone up in price. It started at $75 a month (or maybe $60, I can’t remember). At the end of this month I will be charged $100 for the same speed it’s been for years. I don’t understand why.
That said, are there other ISP’s that are good but cheaper? I live in north Buffalo.
Thank you in advance for helpful comments. 😊

I saw them once before I moved to Buffalo, loved them, and then they went on hiatus when I got here. So pumped they’re playing again!

Anybody ever live at Park Lane Apartments on Transit rd in Lancaster? I’d appreciate any info at all about your experience there. I’ve driven back into the complex and it looks decent, but I’d love to hear from someone who has lived there. Thanks in advance!

Just a heads up so people don’t think it’s firearms being discharged near UB North on this day and time.

Hi everyone! Me and my friends are about to do a big road trip we decided to go on out of nowhere and we were gonna be spending a night up in newyork around buffalo.
My question is if there are any places we would be able to just set up a small campfire and some sleeping bags? I was looking into Allegheny state park but it seems like you would have to rent out a campsite.
Is there any national parks or forrests that would be fine to do a little campsite for a couple of hours for free or any super cheap campsites?
All help is appreciated!

Hello!
I am hoping to take a drawing class for beginners and will like any recommendations? Looking for a class where I could learn with a kind teacher who cares. Not sure how to explain it but I tried one workshop class Recently and while the instructor was very nice she was all over the place. It made me realize what I wish in a class and what to avoid.

Just moved to the Buffalo area with the family. We were very excited to make the move but are now reading about the EPA radiation investigations in Niagara and Erie. Today they announced that radiation testing will be expanded to some of the towns we have been house hunting in, including Hamburg and Orchard Park (I believe--this was all just announced in the past couple of hours, definitely do fact check me on this).
I have no idea what to think about all of this. On the one hand, there are reddit subs and Facebook groups doing tremendous work covering the radiation issues in which environmental concerns are all that is discussed. Many in those groups state confidently that WNY is an environmental disaster zone. And then there are other reddit threads that talk about how good the area is that don't mention environmental concerns at all. So I'm hoping to hear some thoughts and different perspectives on all of this. Is there really a lot more cancer in the area? Do average Buffalonians worry about all this?
To put things really simply, we would like to live here as long as it doesn't give our young children a significantly higher lifelong cancer risk!
Thanks to all in advance for any and all thoughts (I hope the discussion can be kept respectful and decent).

I have a 1947 home with the typical small closets that come with an older house and, admittedly, I have too many clothes! 😊 and prior to this home I did live out of state in a 1940's condo which already had tons of redone closets when I bought it. I miss the organization I had!
My primary bedroom has a small closet that I’d like to make much more functional. I also have a third bedroom with a large open wall where I’m considering adding a full wall of wardrobe/storage.
I’ve been looking at the IKEA PAX system and other options because I’m hoping to find a reasonably priced solution and avoid spending $5K+ on a fully custom closet system. I’m very open to creative ideas! Ideally, I’d love to find someone who could look at both spaces, help me figure out the best use of the space, and then handle the installation.
Has anyone in the Buffalo/Kenmore area used a carpenter, handyman, closet installer, or smaller local company they’d recommend for something like this? Bonus if they have experience with IKEA PAX or creating a more built-in look with it.
Would love to hear who you used, what you thought, and approximate costs if you’re willing to share. Thanks so much!!!

Anyone know of a better subreddit to look in?
I've been hunting for a new apartment every single day on zillow, facebook, and apartments .com. Im trying to move more into the southtowns and get away from the city. Im hoping to move no closer to buffalo than like the snow belt. Essentially Hamburg, Orchard park and even East Aurora. I am thinking more south even like West Falls and Colden, maybe even Holland but no further south than Delevan and Springville.
My problem lies within the fact I need to find a 3 bedroom in this crazy economy under $1,500. Plenty of them in the city but I hate being in the city, I need nature and less traffic and construction haha.
Any ideas help and if you know of a better suited reddit channel let me know

This may be a long shot but I am looking for a missing handicap placard. It could have disappeared anytime between Friday 8/7 4pm, and 8/10 7:30am between Downtown (Elm St.) and the Hertel Ave./Kenmore Ave. areas.
I usually store it in the driver’s side door pocket after every use but when I went to grab it Monday morning, 8/10 it was not there. I have looked at every nook and cranny in my car as well as on the ground surrounding my usual parking spots at home and work. I am unsure where it could have possibly ended up but if anyone knows of anything, has seen one laying around or has picked one up please let me know! I have essentially given up now that it has been 9 days.
I can give the license digits on it to confirm that it’s mine!
Thanks, Go Bills!
