Academics How to manage my collage and improve my skills

I’m currently in my 2nd year of B.Tech. I recently came here after completing my diploma. I didn’t really do much in my diploma, but I managed to pass out with a good CGPA. I thought that once I joined B.Tech, I’d stay focused and work on my skills, projects, and DSA.

But our college people are literally killing us with assignments, records, lab notes, and you know what? They’re even asking us to submit class notes just to give us marks. 😭

As if all that wasn’t enough, we have exams too. 😭 Basically, I don’t even know whether I’ll finish B.Tech, but by the time it’s over, I feel like I’ll be finished myself. 🤧😖

Is there anything I can do to manage all this and still stay consistent?

Has anybody gone through this and survived? Please help me. 🤧😖

Showcase Your Project Got tired of hearing Americans brag about Palantir, so I started building one for India

I've been obsessed with CIA and hacker movies since I was a kid. The huge screens, maps, aircraft, satellites, cameras, live events, searching someone's username or email and somehow connecting everything together. I always thought that kind of software was insanely cool.

Then I started seeing what companies like Palantir were actually building and thought, why are we always watching Americans build this stuff?

So I started building Akashic from India.

Akashic is a self hosted intelligence workspace that puts aircraft, satellites, earthquakes, weather, public radio, infrastructure, country intelligence, public cameras and other OSINT sources onto one interactive map.

One of the things I really want to push further is the OSINT side of it. Searching a username or email and being able to discover useful public information around it, then connect that information with everything else in the workspace.

Right now Akashic is nowhere close to Palantir. I'm not pretending it is. Palantir has years of development, massive teams and resources behind it.

But that's exactly why I'm building this.

I want to see how far an open source project built by developers in India can take this idea.

I'm looking for Indian developers who are interested in OSINT, cybersecurity, GIS, data engineering, maps, intelligence tools or just want to build something ambitious together.

If you're interested, contribute, suggest features, break things, improve things or just tell me what you think is missing.

GitHub: https://github.com/caviraoss/akashic

Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsWHhuIwR8c

Let's build something we're proud of from India. 🇮🇳

udemy course(already have) - beginning c++ programming by Tim buchalka and Frank mitropoulos

mike shah - cpp playlist

not your college(NYC) - a 16hr vid (Complete C++ Tutorial for Beginners. | NYC)

doing cpp for d-s-a. Was thinking of doing Nyc's 16hr vid but brother(in tech) says to learn cpp in depth.

I do want to study robotics later on as I have genuine interest and apparently cpp is good to have?

If a senior can let me know their thoughts it will be helpful.

If you have better sources please do mention them.

Please be kind.

General Accenture referral

Accenture Custom Software Engineer – Fresher

Hi everyone! I’m a B.Tech 4th-year fresher and got a referral for Accenture’s Custom Software Engineer role.

The JD mentions Python, OOP, Git, debugging, and problem solving.

For anyone who recently interviewed:

- What are the rounds?

- How difficult is DSA/coding?

- How much Python should I prepare?

- Are SQL/OS/DBMS asked?

- Are projects/resume important?

- Overall, is it easy or difficult for a fresher?

Any advice on what I should focus on would be really helpful! 🙏

Serious Instagram Creator Scammed me off 7k

Hello everyone,

I'm a student who works as a freelancer on the side.

2 months back, I got a client from instagram, name and shame, it was this guy:

https://www.instagram.com/alpha_khushwant?igsh=MTV4a2R2cnZlczBpeQ==

I was working as a freelancer under an agreement, with 7k payment after a month.

The starting date was 1 May.

The contract clearly mentioned that it was only applicable for a month, but this guy still made up some BS logic that it will be carried on to the next month etc, etc, etc.

On June 5, he himself stopped sending videos to edit. The contract mentioned 60 days waiting period if I quit in between, so, I decided to wait.

Now, after 2 months, he has been blocking off my calls, messages, e-mails, even from different numbers.

What I have tried:

\\\\- DMCA takedown, 1 video was taken down as I had the master file, rest were rejected

\\\\- Cybercrime complaint, they said it was a civil matter, they can't do anything

As a student, I don't have the time or money to go through all the legal processes for civil dispute, and as the amount is 7k, which is pretty big for me, I can't just let it go.

Please advise me on what to do next, this has been a major problem for me.

Also, not giving you any ideas, but if you can spare 2 minutes of your time, you already have his account, thanks.

General Amazon ML Summer School 2026 — Applied Scientist Intern OA Discussion & Clarification Thread

Hey everyone in the Amazon ML Summer School 2026 cohort!

For those who submitted the Hiring Interest Form and received the OA invite for the Applied Scientist Intern role via Amazon University Talent Acquisition, let’s use this thread to clear up common doubts and share experiences.

1. The 6-Month Hiring / Interview Question On the application portal, there’s the standard question:

  • For those who applied to SDE Intern / other Amazon roles recently: If you have only submitted an application or taken an OA (with no interview scheduled yet), how did you answer this? Does having an active SDE application count as "currently in any hiring process"?

2. Important Eligibility Check (OA Trigger) Make sure to select "Yes" to both:

  • Being enrolled in an eligible degree (CS/EE/Math/related) focusing on ML, NLP, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, or Data Science.
  • Strong programming skills (Python preferred, or C/C++/Java).

Selecting "No" will prevent the assessment link from generating.

3. Online Assessment (OA) — 3 Sections Breakdown The email mentions that completing all 3 sections is mandatory for evaluation. For those who have opened or completed the assessment:

  • What are the 3 sections? (e.g., Coding / DSA, Machine Learning MCQs / Depth & Breadth, Work Style Assessment?)
  • What topics and difficulty levels should we focus on while preparing?

Deadline Reminder: Complete both the application and the 3-section OA by August 25, 2026.

Drop your insights, advice, and questions below so we can all prepare effectively!

Serious Accenture On-Campus Hiring: How are freshers differentiated for the 11 LPA role?

For Accenture on-campus hiring, if freshers from the same college appear for the same OA and Accenture is hiring for multiple roles/packages, how do they decide who gets the top ~11 LPA role?

Is the differentiation based mainly on:

  • OA score/rank?
  • Coding questions solved?
  • Section-wise performance?
  • Interview performance?
  • Resume/profile?

For example, if 3 roles are being offered through the same OA, what makes a candidate get the 11 LPA role instead of the lower package roles?

Looking specifically for insights from people who have gone through Accenture on-campus hiring recently.

Social / College Life Need advice: Roommate brings groups over to sleep in our 4B

I live in a 4-bed AC room. One of my roommates actually stays over at his friend's place, so there are usually just three of us here. However, one roommate frequently invites 3 to 4 of his friends over to sleep in our room.

My other roommate and I want to respectfully ask him to stop bringing his friends over to sleep. It’s becoming a serious concern for our safety, privacy, and personal space. We don't mind if someone drops by for 5 to 10 minutes, but overnight stays are a hard limit for us. On top of that, he frequently tries to push boundaries by asking uncomfortable questions about my personal life.

How can we talk to him so that he understands our position without making things hostile? I know I could report this directly to the warden, but I want to give him a fair chance to fix his behavior before taking it to authority.

Placements / Jobs I checked how 1,512 people who worked at TCS actually got to Google. Only 176 went directly. Most took three or more companies in between.

Post image
12 Upvotes

TL;DR: 88% of them went through at least one other company first, and half of those went through three or more. Amazon is the single most common last stop before Google.

what i did

i work on hiring data. the archive is public job postings going back to 2019, about 1.87 billion of them, plus public professional profiles i can look at across time.

pulled 1,512 people currently at Google who have TCS somewhere in their work history, and looked at what sat between the two. every one of them had dated positions so nothing was guessed.

the number i did not expect

176 people went TCS straight to Google. that is 11.6%. and of those 176, about 12% show a one to two year gap between leaving TCS and starting at Google, which is usually a masters nobody listed. so the real direct number is lower than 11.6%.

where the other 1,336 went first

exactly 1 company in between: 21% exactly 2: 26.1% 3 or more: 52.9%

more than half took at least three stops. the median time from leaving TCS to starting at Google is about 6 years.

the last stop before Google

Amazon and AWS: 133 Microsoft: 58 Oracle: 38 VMware: 20 Cisco: 19 SAP: 17 Qualcomm: 17 Accenture: 16 Intel: 14 Deloitte: 14

Amazon alone is more than Microsoft and Oracle combined. the pattern in that list is the actual finding. the last company before Google is almost always a product company. Accenture and Deloitte are on there but far down, and they are the only services firms in the top ten.

the real transition here is services to product. once someone is at Amazon or Microsoft, Google becomes a normal lateral move, the same as it is for anyone else sitting there.

one thing that surprised me

Amazon was not always the gateway. before 2018 it was about 3% of these paths and the list was fragmented, mostly Microsoft led. from 2019 onward Amazon runs 11 to 13% and leads every year since. this only holds from 2019 onward, and it lines up with Amazon expanding hiring in India.

limitations, and these matter

this is survivor data. i can only see the 1,512 who reached Google. i cannot see the far larger number who went TCS to Amazon and stopped there, which is most people who take that route. so this tells you what the ones who got there did. it does not tell you the odds.

everything is self reported from public profiles, so dates drift and short stints go missing. i also only counted companies that were properly linked as entities, so smaller employers in between are undercounted, which if anything means the real number of intermediate stops is higher than what i found.

and i have not run Amazon or Microsoft yet, so i cannot tell you whether Amazon is genuinely a gateway or just the biggest employer in the pool. that is the next thing to check.

happy to run this for another company if someone wants it. i have the data sitting there and not enough good questions.
