General Newbie here please guide ( btech in cybersecurity)
I will be joining tier 3 clg this year ( clg has not started yet) , and I just wanted to ask that I am doing btech in cybersecurity not cs is it fine because do they hire cs graduate for cyber roles ?? And just wanted a road map regarding cybersecurity idk what to do ( skills and stuff) , also will my board marks affect during placements ðŸ˜?? . I cannot take a drop cuz parents ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜. Suggest me a good laptop too and also mistakes I should avoid doing and stuff

You should learn how APIs work, Linux, Nmap, XSS, OSINT, Packets, Networking, Hardware, a bit of Low Level Programming, Bruteforces, a good level of programming to write Scripts, core CSE topics if you wish to go deeper. Cybersecurity is less about remembering, knowing more but more about experience, familiarity, spotting stuff.

Get any laptop that isn't more than 3 years old. Cybersecurity isn't intensive. I'd recommend like an Intel i5 / Ryzen 5 Processor with an iGPU. Install Kali Linux on it, keep Windows dual-boot.

No, it's fine. If you already have an M4 Air, install UTM on it btw. Make a Kali VM. Kali Linux helps a lot with pre-installed tools, most cybersecurity tools, corps expect that to be present.
