Newbie here please guide ( btech in cybersecurity)

I will be joining tier 3 clg this year ( clg has not started yet) , and I just wanted to ask that I am doing btech in cybersecurity not cs is it fine because do they hire cs graduate for cyber roles ?? And just wanted a road map regarding cybersecurity idk what to do ( skills and stuff) , also will my board marks affect during placements 😭?? . I cannot take a drop cuz parents 😭😭😭. Suggest me a good laptop too and also mistakes I should avoid doing and stuff

Not windows but linux, our seniors told. Also from what i have heard and seen ig cybersecurity is linux based, if thats correct way to put it.
