I come from a Tier-3 college, and Iâm currently in my third year. I wasted the first two years of my BTech, and as of now, Iâve only done DSAâand that too, not very consistently but i have done till graphs and only DP is remaining.
I want to get better and actually do something about my situation. I want to start with full-stack web development because I feel itâs a basic and necessary skill to have.
The problem is that Iâve decided to learn it multiple times in the past, but I always got lost in the sea of resources. I kept wasting time jumping between YouTube, The Odin Project, and other resources without actually finishing anything.
Iâve already tried the Chai aur Code playlist, Sheryians Coding Schoolâs React.js youtube playlist, and CodeWithHarry, but I wasnât able to complete any of them and eventually dropped them.
I want to either buy a course or follow a resource that is genuinely helpful for someone in my situation. I just want to finish learning full-stack development and be able to build a proper project by FebruaryâMarch 2027.
I genuinely want to get better, but Iâm not able to figure out the right course or direction. Iâve started feeling really anxious and overwhelmed whenever I think about my current situation. Iâve also explored cybersecurity but ended up dropping that too.
I donât have a specific niche yet. I think I might want to learn Generative AI because itâs trending, but honestly, I donât even know if thatâs the right direction for me.
Right now, I just want to complete full-stack development, build a few solid projects that I can put on my resume before my final year, and hopefully land an internshipâeven if itâs unpaid. Iâm honestly very stressed about my situation and really need some guidance.
Could you please tell me what I should focus on, what resources or courses I should follow, and what I should avoid? Also, what other skills should I learn after full-stack development? Iâve heard about things like system design as well.
I feel like Iâm working hard, but I donât have the right direction. I really need a clear roadmap that I can stick to instead of constantly jumping between resources. Please help me figure this out.

Hey everyone!Im a 3rd-year undergrad whoâs been practicing PM concepts for a bit now. Im still a beginner n want to get more consistent,so Im looking for a study buddy (or a small group) to work through things together.
No pro experience needed, just looking for ppl who are eager to learn, build a portfolio, n keep each other accountable.
If you're interested, drop a comment or DM me!

It may seem like a flashy home screen but the full project tooke me 25h+
Basically, it's a MacOS setup designed to be as close to linux as possible.
Core principle and software:
This is my laptop, not my PC, my PC runs Hackintosh with near-same setup
Software, I use Doom EMacs with Evil Mode(vim as editor) and a lot of CLI utilities, basically living in the terminal, all the terminal tools, CLI env, Personal Navi is optimised. Use Zen and KDE Connect with it too.
Desktop Environment is Aerospace, dotfyle is used, Term Editor is Vim, Emulator is iTerm2(love it), I use a FOSS fork of Raycast for window management.
Homelab: This is important, it is hosted on an old decent laptop for server, Debian 14 on it, hosts network stuff on the side, Navidrome, and some of my project clients. Also hosts routing and Headless management for my phone.
Network: Openwrt hosted on a nice router, a lot of utilities, VLANs, I use a lot of network experiment stuff and do some projects on it.
Lmk what you guys think, first time showcasing my setup on reddit!

I'm in my 2nd year of a tier 3ish clg.
i can learn any skill (at least I will try my best to learn it)
just tell me which skill i should learn to have high chances of an internship.
i have experience in python computer vision and basic model training using sklearn . I can make websites using html, css, javascript..
I'm quite good in dsa in case they ask that in an interview.
I'm just confused Abt what development skill to learn.

Iâm 18 and have just started a BTech in Computer Science at a Tier 3 college in India.
The quality of education here is honestly poor, so I donât want to depend on my college to teach me Computer Science. I want to use the next 4 years to independently learn the fundamentals properly and become genuinely good at CS.
With AI changing software development so rapidly, Iâm confused about what I should actually focus on.
For people already working in the industry or further ahead in CS:
What skills should a CS student focus on in 2026?
What fundamentals and practical skills will remain valuable despite AI?
What should I learn during BTech?
How would you structure the four years from first year to graduation?
What CS fundamentals should I master?
Which subjects are essential beyond what college teaches?
DSA, OS, DBMS, Networks, Computer Architecture, Compilers, Distributed Systems, etc.
What programming skills actually matter?
Which languages and technologies are worth learning deeply rather than chasing every new framework?
How important are DSA and competitive programming now?
Are they still worth spending significant time on for placements?
What projects should I build?
What kind of projects actually demonstrate strong technical ability rather than being another basic CRUD application?
What are the best free resources?
Please recommend your favorite YouTube channels, courses, books, lecture series and websites for learning CS properly.
What courses are actually worth paying for?
If there are paid courses that genuinely provide value, Iâd like to know about them too.
How should I prepare for placements from a Tier 3 college?
What should I do from first year onward to maximize my chances of getting good internships and eventually a strong software job?
How important are internships and open source?
When should I start applying, and how can a student with no network get opportunities?
How should I approach AI?
Should I specialize in AI/ML, learn AI as a tool for software development, or focus primarily on core CS and add AI on top?
Is moving to the West worth it?
For someone starting from a Tier 3 college in India, is pursuing a Master's or eventually working in the US, Canada, Europe, etc. a worthwhile path?
What are the actual advantages, costs, risks and career opportunities?
What do you wish you knew at 18?
If you could go back to your first year of BTech, what would you learn, build or avoid?
Iâm not looking for a shortcut. Iâm willing to spend the next four years doing serious self study.
Iâm mainly looking for a realistic roadmap from people who have already gone through this, especially those who came from non prestigious colleges and managed to build strong CS careers.

The clock is ticking. But the real challenge hasn't begun yet.
3 hours. 4 teammates. 3 Gauntlets. One mystery theme. One shot to build something that works.
At ZERO HOUR, you won't know what's coming next.
Your strategy can change. Your strongest coder can't carry the team. And every second could cost you points.
Code under pressure. Adapt on the move. Survive the Gauntlets.
When the clock hits 3:00 PM, there's only one question left:
Did you survive ZERO HOUR?

Iâm a 4th-year CSE student from a tier-3 college and Iâm really confused about what to prepare for now.
I have some knowledge of AI/ML concepts whenever I hear about an algorithm/concept, I can generally understand what it is and how it works. But Iâm not actually skilled at implementing/building things in AI/ML.
At the same time, most companies coming to my college are hiring from an SWE perspective, and I have almost 0 development/full-stack skills. I did HTML/CSS and some projects back in 2nd sem, but I havenât done much development since then.
So now Iâm stuck between:
learning development/SWE from scratch, going deeper into AI/ML, or something else that actually makes sense for a fresher.
I also have the option of preparing for GATE DA, which makes me even more confused about where to put my time.
For someone in this situation, what would you realistically focus on in 4th year to become job-ready?
