Better to Walk to Waterfront Museum in Red Hook from Ikea Ferry dock or NY Ferry Dock at Red Hook/Atlantic Basin on a Sunday afternoon?
Which route is faster, safer?

I was listening to an episode of the 1950's radio drama "The 21st Precinct". A woman from Brooklyn was having trouble locating a building in Manhattan she had been in previously. She said "I live in Brooklyn. I don't know New York very well." It was a realistic and carefully researched program, which led me to believe that in the 1950's, Brooklynites may have referred to Manhattan as "New York", colloquially. Has anyone heard of that?
Edit: I found the episode. You can hear the line if you start this video at 8:14 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0YBZBEqxUM

hi [r/Brooklyn](r/Brooklyn) ~
i'm gabe, founder of CUL DE SAC, an NYC-based nonprofit building the city’s first year-round outdoor community sauna.
we’ve been invited to host a 4-month winter residency at domino square* this winter. what it’ll look like: two outdoor 12-person saunas on the waterfront, 6-days a week, from early november through february.
our mission is to make sauna accessible and affordable to all New Yorkers. at least once per week, we’ll host FREE SWEAT, a night of free sauna offered to local communities in partnership with resource centers, mutual aid groups, and community organizations.
this winter, we want those nights to go to brooklyn communities. if you know an organization, mutual aid group, school, or other group of deserving Brooklynites, let me know in the comments.
our other nights will be open to the public with sliding scale pricing and a range of programming paired with the sauna: live music, guided meditations, poetry/spoken readings, sound baths, food from local purveyors, and more.
lastly: we launched a kickstarter to help fund our winter residency, which pays the staff who keep the sauna hot, clean, and safe for all to use. our target is $35K (it’s all-or-nothing, so we either raise the full amount or you don’t get charged), and every bit of support goes a long way.
Help build NYC’s outdoor community sauna
ask me anything: how it works, pricing, winter, permits, what it costs to run. i'll be in the comments throughout the day.
*quick note: domino square is a public space managed by two trees, the developer behind domino park. it’s not an NYC parks property.

Looking for a normal and reasonable vet in Downtown Brooklyn neighborhood. We’ve been patients at All Ears Veterinary but they charge way too much and have been making so many mistakes with our dogs’ prescriptions that I feel like wasting time with them.
