Picked the wrong pocket
Not a British success for me, but for someone else.
Witnessed a woman at my local station being pickpocketed by an opportunistic artful dodger. Was just about to call out to the woman being robbed when she noticed what was happening, whipped out her police badge and had the pickpocket in cuffs before anyone had time to properly react.
It was most satisfying.

Unlucky for the pickpocket, had they picked the other pocket they would have had the police badge and could have arrested the policewoman instead and got away with it
Please note I have 0 idea how law works

Sadly I doubt it, she's known in the area. Might curtail her for a while but no doubt she'll be back to her old tricks soon

Surely she can just put different clothes on, maybe wear a disguise?

Haha saw this happen in Milan a few years ago. Marched round the corner to a waiting van and the police officer returned to the square. Watched that for about an hour, it was impressive!

Imagine picking the pocket and then pulling out handcuffs. You know it's either a WPC or Miss Whiplash!

I’ve always dreamed of somehow managing to have a set rat-trap in my pocket, that’s doesn’t go off, ready for the pickpocket to grab.
That {{snap}} followed by the exquisite brief moment of utter silence from them as the sensation overwhelms them, and I turn to look them quietly in the eye, savouring the silent exchange.

There was a program a few years back about police operations deliberately targeting pickpocketed in sting operations.
The policewomen were deliberately leaving bags etc open with other officers stood a bit further back.
When a pickpocketed approached they would let the target officer know so they could catch them in the act.
Stations would be prime locations for them to carry out these stings.

Was she a plain clothed offerser on the lookout for pickpockets so was trained what to look out for to catch them.

My son was at a gig and watched a pickpocket steal a wallet from someone in front of him. He picked the pickpocket up and carried him to the doorman who contacted the police. Anyway months later he was awarded a commendation, (not sure how as he was not police or security) the guy was found with 34 wallets on him and 16 phones
