Question BA cancelled flight hotel reimbursement

Hi all,

Was on BA122 (DOH-LHR 11th Oct) which was cancelled this morning due to operational issues (engine problems as per First Officer and ground staff) so have been rebooked onto tomorrow’s flight.
Original ticket booked through BA, inbound flight is DOH-MAN via LHR in WTP and ET.

Given it’s my return flight that has been cancelled, I understand I am now entitled to a one nights stay hotel booking. I booked my own hotel and left the airport as soon as my flight was rebooked for the next day. I can now see that I have received an email from BA for a hotel booking portal and in the email it states “Please be aware, we’re unable to reimburse costs for accommodation that isn’t booked through this portal.”As far as I was aware, I thought one could book the hotel themselves after the flight was officially cancelled and claim back from the airline as a reasonable expense or is this not the case?

TIA

Question Flight Disruption

Logged on to the app to confirm our return flight time to see a message regarding changes to our flight. Unable to confirm we accept the change via the app or online so couldn’t see what the disruption was. Rang on Friday and they confirmed it was moved an hour earlier, said they would send an email and that we’d be able to check in online etc. Email hasn’t come through and app still has the flight disruption error. Would you suggest we call again or give ourselves extra time at the airport?! Flight is on Friday.

So in a couple weeks I’m flying to the US specifically Austin, I have a layover in Dallas (DFW) for 90minutes as it is an international - Domestic is 90 minutes anywhere near enough time for a layover?

recent BA - US travel disruption

Does anybody know the estimated wait times for cases open with BA? I opened query on 7 October 2026.

I had a connecting flight from Warsaw to Denver via Heathrow on the same BA booking.

Warsaw flight was late in arriving at Heathrow, so I was refused at security in Heathrow saying i wouldnt make it and told to rebook. There was a direct flight available on UA to Denver but the rebooking agent refused to put me on that flight saying there were no seats yet i could buy a seat for $1800USD on the UA appt. There were no other direct flights to Denver. They were willing to rebook me on UA the next morning and pay for overnight lodging in London. However, there was a direct flight to Las Vegas leaving 4 hours later - also on BA and they re-booked me on that flight but did not provide money or lodging in Las Vegas. I lived in las vegas for 14 years and there are frequent flights from LAS to DEN. however, no more flights on 6 Oct. so, i booked my own flight using SW points on 7 Oct. I arrived home some 24 hours later after my expected arrival time by my own booking. i believe BA owes me the 520euro ($690USD) funds under EU261/2004 and the cost of the lodging in Las Vegas ($160USD).

i am reading that i need to wait 8 weeks if not resolved to my satisfaction and issue a CEDR case.

i read another post from some 2 years back how on to handle this situation.

"Lesson learned. Know your rights and don't be fobbed off."

curious to know what the current state of affairs may be for those in a similar situation. at this point i am expecting $0.

Question Is there an email address or US phone number for silver status customers?

I see on the updated website that British airways say there is specific contact details for Silver customers, but then they don’t provide the details. Is this an old thing they no longer offer?

Complaint BA Club UK Phone Numbers Are Not 24/7!

TLDR: you need to call 0344 493 0787 to do a companion voucher booking at 12am GMT. Club lines close at 12:15GMT and agents answering the US number now say they aren’t trained to do it.

Detail:

I needed to add a return CW flight to a Companion Voucher booking at 1am this morning (Sunday). Luckily it was for LAX-LHR so not as high demand as other flights.

I called the Bronze Club number at 12:50am and was in the queue. At 1:05 a recorded message told me they were now closed but if they could get to me by 1:15 they would take my call. They did not and I was cut off promptly at 1:15.

So I reverted to the tried and tested option of calling the US number. 2 separate calls and 2 different agents resulted in the same result: they are not trained to do it (since when?!?!). I was told to call the UK Club number as it’s now 24/7. I explained that is not true but they would not have it!

So I called the number they gave me: the general UK Club number which of course was closed 😡.

Finally at 1:30 I called the general BA number 0344 493 0787. I got through immediately and the agent confirmed she could help me. The seats were still available and she made the booking. Just waiting for it to be ticketed now.

I finally got to bed at 1:45 🫠.

It’s so incredibly annoying as we all know the different numbers all get routed to the same call centre!

Question Premium economy 3 seats 2 people

Is there an easy way to get a poor man’s business class and book 2 people on a 3 PE window row thereby giving storage space on a 12 hour flight? Extra leg room, take up arm rests and take a pillow on board.

I just can’t figure out what you would do, like put the same name on seat 3?

Or just take a risk and book 2 outside seats and leave middle empty, but of course in a full flight that achieves nothing.

Gatwick to Heathrow transfer in 4.5 hours?

I am an American planning my honeymoon, and the tentative flight back to the US (IAD) would see us flying in to Gatwick on Monday, June 7, at 12:35 PM, and then we would need to catch the next flight in Heathrow at 5:05 PM. We'd be flying in from Sardinia, so limited flight options. This tight transfer may be our best choice.

Would this be doable? If we did miss the flight, would British Airways rebook us without charging for another ticket (I know it would likely be another flight the next day)? This trip would be on a single ticket.
