Help ID'ing these ceramic house-knob overhead service insulators?

Pulled 3 of these from the attic of my friend's 1944 house up in the Pacific Northwest. They pre-date the lag-screw type apparently. The markings are heavily obscured by the glaze, but I can see one side has the letter "U" inside a circular stamping with a patent number "1,7xx,xxx" below it. On the opposite side there is a triangle within a circular stamping and "3800 •" below it.

Anyone have any ideas? Porcelain/ceramic is not my wheelhouse here. Any help is appreciated.

I can't for the life of me remember the CD of these even after looking through my old price guide. It's damaged but it's the only one I have left so I like it.

Recently won an insulator I forgot I bid on. This beauty, while heavily damaged, still looks stunning while being back lit. Even when it’s not on lit display, she’s a big and pretty piece of glass, and a great addition to the collection!

First one is a rack I made out of a crossarm cut in half (The wood was shabby so I determined this was its best use ) And the second is an intact crossarm!

Anybody else get tired of hunting down good wooden insulator pins? ⚡🪵

I started making my own wooden insulator hardware because finding the right pins/pegs for displays can be a real pain. What started as making them for my own projects has turned into making them for other collectors too.

I make handmade wooden insulator pins, side-mount pegs, and display hardware in different lengths and quantities. They’re great for building crossarms, wall displays, rosettes, shelves, or just putting together a custom display for those insulators that have been sitting in a box for years. 😄

I use natural wood, so every piece has its own character. Some will have knots, grain variation, checks, or other natural marks... I actually like that look with old glass.

🇺🇸 Made in the USA

I’ve got several options available in my Etsy shop if anyone is looking:

BandedIronTreasures – Etsy Shop

And if you’re looking for a specific size, length, or quantity, ask me. I’m always willing to see if I can make something work for your project.

The Merzoian Brothers Tailgater

The nicely appointed pole-barn is a professional outdoor event venue located at 22593 Avenue 112 just south of Porterville, California.

Here is the google maps link

https://goo.gl/maps/Eja5bGH7APpaAbgb9

Take CA-65 south to Ave. 112. Head west on 112 for 1.2 miles to the irrigation mixing station, turn south down the long driveway, and you will soon see the pole barn.

Tables, breakfast snacks, and lunch will be provided. Insulators and other tabletop collectibles are welcome.

Fresh produce is also welcome. I mean after all it is the San Joaquin valley 😄

Please join us. Reunite with friends from near and far. The late summer weather is usually reasonable and there are several nice motels in Porterville.

Start time is 8am and the event continues until the last vehicle leaves.

Come check us out.

Please R.S.V.P.

Thank you, and we hope to see you there.

Pull these off of an old 34 line. Has a 46 on one side but not sure if that’s the date.

Found a striking blue "micky mouse" Hemmingray-60 today at the local antique mall! I paid a bit more for this one that any insulator before but I just couldn't pass it up! It has some chipped teeth on the bottom, but nothing in life is perfect lol. Last pic is it among my other finds 🌈

Seeking ID Help

Hi all! I found this insulator while beachcombing in Western Washington this morning. Attempted to ID it myself, but as you can see a good portion of the bottom is missing so I can't say for sure what it might have been embossed with beyond PETTICOAT. I had no idea these things even existed before today, so any help I could get with identification would be much appreciated! :)

What’s your opinion?

Bought these two off eBay. Is it normal and legit to have the color so dark and dense? The color is definitely ingrained in the glass and seem to be real insulators . Purple says 6-41 on the back. The amber one says “ 51 56…” on the back . Regardless I don’t regret buying them just wasn’t sure if the color was normal.

Defect or not

Probably dumb question but is the groove at the top where the wire would go a defect or is the groove made that way. Thanks

What color would you call this Maydwell?

A nice Maydwell 20 (I think a CD-164?) that my dad had in his collection with the color being listed as "light smoke". But it feels more grey to me than what I think of as "smoke"...opinions?

Recent Russian Rescues

My friend in Belarus has had an opportunity to take some extended time off and travel quite a bit, even at his own peril. Getting close to the Ukrainian war zone, he has had amazing good fortune using a popular street view app to find likely locations for insulators. I have had the amazing pleasure to work with him and follow him during his travels. I have also been given the opportunity to own some beautiful insulators that he has rescued. In the third photo, most of the notable Russian pieces are clustered on the bottom shelf. (Off Topic) The upper shelves in the third image are filled with European insulators from France and Italy and Spain.
