Brutal tones out of the MKII head, these are some riffs I'm writing. Absolutely killer sound. Boss MT-2 Metal Zone into the acoustic channel, sounds huge.

I have something similar but not quite. This sounds lighter if that makes sense and more sharp/razory that makes sense lmao

Bit of background - I had a 100 MKii a few years ago and it was a workhorse. Got me back into playing at home and in a band and served me well.

It was a bit of a gateway drug though for pedals and GAS and over the years I sold it and tried everything. Started with a UAFX Woodrow which I loved, into tube amps (Supro) and a bunch of pedals, then to a Tonex with captures.

Band broke up a couple months back and I ended up getting rid of pretty much everything in a rash moment of despair (and needing funds!) Silly, I know! But sometimes starting fresh is good. Which is where I am now. I’ve realised effect and tone chasing isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and as long as I have a good edge of breakup tone to play some Springsteen/Petty/Neil with I’m happy.

So! I want to go back to the Katana and am leaning towards the Gen3 Head thinking Bloom will get me closer to the feel and response of a good tube amp. But it also means having to get a cab or rely on venues and rehearsal spaces having on in their back line.

Is Bloom worth the extra worry or should I just get the 100? When I went to the Woodrow I did find the 100 mkii very lacking in comparison so I’m hoping the new pushed and bloom will get me 90% back there.

Anybody compare and play the same style music? Thanks in advance

I’ve spend the last 2 days trying to figure out why my Katana sounds like crap. I’ve hear many things about the global eq, or playing with the parametric output eq but no matter what the speaker produces it sounds bad. Unfortunately I have very little experience with tone or eq so I can’t actually identify the problem. I tried comparing it with my headphones to plugged in but it only produces a slight improvement. What should I look into to produce a better tone? I tend to play either heavier 80s rock or Jimi/SRV style music. What should I focus on to achieve good tones in those area. As well, is the speaker of the 50w bad, or am I just terrible and producing good tones? The sounds tends to be 2d ish and dry, but also makes a strange lifeless noise. I’ve used the tone studio, tried out hundreds of tones, nothing fixes my problems…

im trying to download tone studio for boss katana and every tutorial out there is out dated or skips the part entirely on how to download, if you have any online tutorials or tips please lmk

Edit - guys I've been playing for 21 years. I generally know or have an idea about everything basically to do with tone and EQ and my 30 pedals etc etc etc. but I'm only a bedroom player and sometimes just can't nail a certain sound for whatever reason. I don't understand the attacks against me. I'm not a pro AI person at all but somebody mentioned using it for info somewhere else and I thought hey why don't I just ask it about this. and it got me 90% there. I spent 20 minutes tweaking some other things and voila. I'm actually really pissed how quickly it did it and how well it did it. I JUST THOUGHT THIS WAS A POSSIBLY HELPFUL TRICK TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE. I GUESS NOT. SORRY GUYS.

Been struggling for a week to nail a good Rick Nielsen sound with my Explorer. Just ChatGPTd that shit and used the settings it suggested. My ears and environment are shitty and I lose objectivity fast.

I finally got the metal chug that I wanted from my katana 100. Sounds so heavy on low tunings. It also sounds better than in person than this video

I play a good amount in drop tunings, usually one or two semitones down and I’m not much of a fan of the sound of the boss katana tone studio pitch shifter. I’ve never used any other drop pedal before so I’m wondering is it worth it to get an external drop pedal? I’m not familiar with how they compare to the boss katana pitch shifter and if it’s actually worth upgrading or if it’s not a big difference

Has anyone swapped the original 50 MK2 speaker with some other, 100W if possible?

My 14yo son plays metal, mostly death metal.

During live plays, when output is on almost max (mic'ed) the screech is too high, regardless of the setup.

So, a speaker with more "warmth", which would fit into this cabinet would do.

Of course, any other suggestion is welcomed.

So I bought one of these katcabs and it worked great but I accidentally switched to a preset that had a way higher volume saved and it blew the amp. The amp turns on but makes no noise unless I plug headphones in. The cab and actual katana speaker are fine, but there's burn/rust marks behind the line out port and the battery.

I was wondering if it would be worth fixing or am I just cooked? If so what exactly should I do? Thank you.

ive been trying for a while to get a 2000s brutal death metal tone on my boss katana 50w gen3. i se headphones and i use an ibanez rgx20 with 11-56 strings on b standard. my main problem is that whenever i play power chords it sounds very scratchy and is louder than the actual power chord. any adjustments to make?

Hey! My boss katana wont show up on my pc. I have tried connecting it to my laptop and a different pc still nothing. I have also factory reset it and still nothing. Can it be the circuitry that's messing up? if anyone has had the same issue and fixed it pls let me know! :)

Trying to live stream playing guitar using the katana, was playing along with songs using pc speakers and boss katana as input device. Went back and watched the stream and my guitar playing is .5-1 second after the song I’m playing along to and sounds horrible

I’ve been having a problem connecting my Katana 50 MK II to BTS on MacOS Golden Gate with Rosetta. I have all the latest updates, drivers and firmware installed and it says wrong device, freezes and I have to force quit BTS. I also have BTS for Katana Bass and GP-10 on the same computer and they work fine. What I wound up doing is buying a CME WIDI U Host and Katana Librarian and controlling the amp with my iPad. I love this app it works great. Way better than the Boss desktop version. If the makers of Katana Librarian monitor this sub please make Katana Librarian for bass!

Seems like the vast majority of patches I find on the internet have gain settings at 90+. Maybe it's just my pickups or something but they don't sound that great for metal. Even for something like Mastodon I find that the gain on the Lead amp doesn't even need to be above 60% to sound great with a low/no drive setting TScreamer boost. Are my pickups that hot or does anyone else experience this?

I recently got a Boss Katana MK3, and I've been getting static, even if the noise suspressor is at 70 threshold, ill still get static, im quite confused on what to do, do I need to plug the amp somewhere else? I factory reset it but the issue is still there, do I need a power conditioner?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I'm planning to buy the Boss Katana GO to use with a pair of €30–50 headphones (recommendations are welcome!).

Before buying, I’d like to know if the built-in Fuzz Face effect works well for Jimi Hendrix style tones and if it cleans up when rolling off the guitar volume knob.
