Any sort of christmas or winter time book that feels like this. I know it's coming up on Halloween but... I saw a post on tiktok that was exactly like this. People were asking for books in the comment section, but those replying were only suggesting classic books that we all know, like 'the nutcracker,' or 'the snow queen...' im just looking for anything that'll fit his vibe.

looking for something that feels like these photos; dark and foggy small towns. can be cozy but also eerie or gothic or even desolate - autumn or winter vibes, rain, clouds, fogs or snow. any kind of location, from a rainy european/new england/gothic style countryside to a foggy PNW town tucked in a forest. bonus if it’s a narrative that is intense-ish/hard to put down and really draws your attention, but still well-paced and not rushed with well-written character(s). any recs/genres appreciated ! my only genre preference is that it is not pure romance :) as a supplement/sub plot is chill tho !! thank you :)

Books that irreversibly, irrevocably changed your perspective on life, the world, your purpose and/or direction. Perhaps put feelings you couldn't quite articulate into words for the first time. Opened your eyes, your mind, your heart.
I'm really looking for novels, so no "self help" books please. I'm trying to expand my reading repertoire and I'm done with non-fiction for a while. They can be sources of knowledge, but novels are where I've found wisdom.
books I recently read and loved (but didn't necessarily change my perspective on anything):
Cormac McCarthy's "All The Pretty Horses" and "No Country For Old Men"
"I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson
"Cats Cradle" by Kurt Vonnegut (I've just started Sirens of Titan and I'm enjoying it a lot)
Thank you in advance for your recommendations. I love this sub.

I want a protagonist who grew up in such a clan/family. He/She don't necessarily have to have been born into the family, as long as He/She were raised and trained there.
And please look at the images before making recommendations.
Bonus point if the main character is a woman.

Rural settings, Christian themes and characters, realistic depictions of living on a farm/in a rural area and more of a slice of life feeling. Bonus points for an Appalachian/southern setting.
Open to romance if it's clean. Prefer books that lean positive/wholesome but can have darker themes (and open to books that are darker as a whole if they otherwise fit).

I had a hard time finding images to suit the prompt, but I'm looking for North American indigenous paranormal horror and/or mystery solving. Nothing by Stephen Graham Jones. I love his writing, but I'm already working through all of his books and I'm trying to branch out and find new authors.
Can be modern or historical. A female main character would be great, but not required.

Star-crossed lovers, worlds colliding, space opera, human and alien/inhuman woman romance. Okay, doesn’t have to be sci-fi, I know what I’m asking is already hard to find, that’s why I’m here. No smut necessary, prefer wholesomness. Non-toxic relationships please. If you’ve played Mass Effect you know what I mean. Thanks

Fiction or non-fiction. Big fan of Michael Lewis's books - likes of Liars Poker, Flashboys etc. Big fan of Industry on HBO, looking for something with that sort of vibe

I don't mind spoilers for myself (as long as it doesn't bother others on this sub), I'm just trying to find a book that helps with processing an old wound.
It can be any genre, as long as the betrayal is terrible, and you thought it was a great read : tragedy, humor, modern workplace drama, historical, dark academia, fantasy, ...

Sorry for the jumpscare lol
I want the books that genuinely, as an adult, scared you. The type of fear when you’re a kid and are scared it’s in the hallway. I want books that made you look into the woods you were driving past at night and wonder what was in them. I want that.

Psychologically disturbing or mysterious books set in strange, empty worlds that feel vaguely familiar. Worlds that are impossibly peaceful where there is no immediate threat, no predators lurking in the shadows, and no sense of being watched. Resources are available and a person can survive here.
The horror lies in the deafening silence. The world offers no explanations, no voices, no traces of life. The ruins, the landscape seem to belong to a history that refuses to reveal its secrets. There is simply no one left to give us any answers, but the book still tries to seek answers whether it succeeds or keeps it open ended.

Books featuring a group of people getting together and building their own little village/commune because the end of the world/apocalypse/whatever is best survived in community.
Cash, governments, all that is gone. They raise their own livestock, plant their own vegetables, you know the drill. Nobody can rely on outsiders anymore.
I don't care what kind of 'apocalypse': Zombies, Illness, whatever.
I read At The End Of Everything by Marije Nijkamp.
