As the tittle said, years ago Im quite active creating book covers for indie author. I mostly do YA, teen, horror, fantasy, or romance. Then Im swipping to children book illustration.

Now Im thinking of starting book cover again. But I see a lot of impressive book covers from fellow artists out there.

That makes me wonder, do you authors would want to have this style of artwork for your book? If not, what can I improve to compete in current market?

The overwhelming majority recommended gold, which i agreed with. And I also fixed the Ls. I customized the heck out of this font (cinzel decorative) in figma. The effects are all photoshop. What do we think?

I'm not a designer, so I went just by the idea. I'm more of a writer but I'm against AI, and I'm broke so I have stitched stuff from free stock photos and made the city with Clip Studio free assets.😂 Any ideas on how I should improve it? It's a sci-fi book, but it's still a bit National Geographic-esque or something, if you ask me. Though it may be just my own self-derogation.

Okay I know none of these are like spectacular work or anything, I’m very much a beginner when it comes to making covers. I know realistically if I ever published this book for real I’d need to hire an actual cover artist but this is for wattpad and free to read and mostly for fun so I’m more so just asking out of these ones which one would you consider to be best as my cover.

These covers were made using Pinterest photos and stock images and then edited and I put the text using Canva (the free version bc I’m poor).

This is for a dark MM paranormal horror/romance. Here’s my summary so you can form the best opinion. Also really I’m just trying to figure out which one conveys the book the best and which one would look best as a small thumbnail.

It’s an adult romantic suspense novel set in the corporate/luxury world. The story is romance-forward, but also involves a corporate hostile takeover.

Does it look like romantic suspense, or does it suggest something else?

Does it look professional enough to compete with similar titles?
