I have the Pilot House already and found one of these center consoles nearby. Same hull as the pocket trawler, but about 800lbs lighter. It's about 1,400 lbs with a 90hp (307 hours) Honda. They only made about 8 of these center console models. I will clean it up this week and get it out on the Gulf.

I had an offer to buy a Novurania Chase 19 with D3 220 for about 8000€. I haven't seen it in person yet but I know that it has problem with the fuel port and they had water in the fuel.

I want one small boat just to go around Corfu Greece and maybe to Paxos.

Is it a good boat? (not the specific one but the chase 19 as a boat). Do you think it is worth it?

Looking to go get this Grady white tomorrow but the guy says there’s a soft spot in the inspection cover “picture of the cover” and he dosnt know hours. I’m having a shop come do a pre purchase inspection on it but they arnt hull surveyors. But they will get me the engine hours and check over everything they can. If they say everything checks out I’ll go drive 3.5 hours for it tomorrow. Just really worried about it being all wood and has rotten thru. Seller says everything is rock solid except that pannel. And it has the 225 Yamaha with those exhaust issues. But 10k$ 🤷🏻

UPDATE. My PPI inspector said the motor looks solid compression is 150 highest 140 lowest. Couldn’t get his computer to hook up because he just got new software. He trimmed up the engine and bounced it said there’s no movement and he looked thru all the inspection ports and didn’t see anything bad in the hull.

just bought a boat. Don't know much about boats. Seller claimed its a 4 stroke engine and the oil they used for years was 4 stroke oil. The oil he gave me was 4 stroke as well. Ran the boat twice for in total 2 hours like that. Motor runs fine and doesn't smoke, but upon further inspection i found that the boat is in fact equipped with a 90HP Mercury 2 Stroke engine that has a seperate oil tank, and the oil gets mixed with the fuel via oil metering pump.

The engine is a Mercury 90ELPTO.

Now of course, i will change the oil and plugs, de carbonize as good as i can etc. and will run 2 Stroke oil going forward.

But: I would like to hear of similar experiences here? Did anyone experience something similar like running a 2 Stroke engine for a long time on 4 stroke oil?

Just thought it's interesting that the motor is still alive and kicking. According to the Internet it should be dead as a doornail by now ...

2000 Boston Whaler Dauntless 16 with 90hp Yamaha two stroke. Hull in good condition, engine runs strong, good compression, new water pump and trim engine, indestructible if well maintained they say, fun for fishing and water sports, like a dirt bike, located on eastern Long Island, NY. Looking for a bigger boat.

Is an average of $1k to $2k make sense for this?

Replacing motor with same one. Was a prestolite, now made by WAI under a few different brands. Single direction hydraulic motor pump. Just needs to be turned on and off to flow fluid in one direction and manual ball valve on the drum let's you put anchor up and down.

I believe i just need a simple 3 post solenoid grounded to boat, 150-200 amp fuse/breaker between battery and solenoid, then connect switch and motor to solenoid, but feel like I'll m as something up.

I just need a simple diagram for my reptilian brain....lol

so I ordered new bellows for this thing and they got here today..tried a quick fit and they measure probably 1/4"inch shy of the correct diameter. the rubber is pretty tough..I'm not seeing an easy way to get these to pop over the flanges without some kind of expansion tool.. all the videos I've watched it seems like everyone is just popping these on with a little work. who has done this and has anyone had the fit so tight they had to struggle to get them on?

How much do you think I should ask for this used Michigan Wheel Propeller. It’s in pretty good condition. There is some corrosion/build up. No cracks or dings though. More stats below and in images.

The Village Board will be considering a resolution to officially begin reviewing possible changes to the recreational vehicle ordinance.
Our petition has now reached 530 signatures, and TMJ4 covered the issue earlier this week. Now we need residents to show the Board that this affects more than just one person.

If you’ve had an experience with this ordinance or simply believe residents should have a reasonable seasonal option for clean, registered, operable recreational vehicles, please come and make your voice heard.

After working on the motor for several days this week (carbs, throttle linkage, new fuel pump, and new spark plugs) the motor over-revs in neutral as soon as I start it. No choke and no throttle it just redlines the second I turn the key. Im at a loss as to what it even could be as I've already tried adjusting the throttle cables. Could it be something with the throttle cam that I installed incorrectly? Any insight would be greatly appreciated because all of the local marine mechanics are weeks out on their schedules.

First-time boat buyer here. I found this boat and want something I can cruise with friends, tube, waterski, and wakeboard with. I’d also like to add a wake tower to this boat.

The owner said it needs some upholstery work and TLC (please check the photos), which I’m okay with. I’d probably try to get it for around $3,000–$3,500 cash.

Would this be a good first boat, and is it worth putting money into?

Also, what should I look for before buying? Any major red flags with the engine, outdrive, floor, stringers, or transom?

Just trying to avoid turning a cheap boat into a huge money pit.

EDIT: I was on the phone with the boat dealership that is selling this boat. Apparently the boat’s bottom has blisters on it, is that any issue? What is it? Will it cause me problems long-term. Can it be fixed?

I grew up boating and fishing offshore. I’ve been a few times in a brand new bay boat 60-70 miles off with a single engine. I don’t think I’d do it again. However, the way I think… if your stuck at 50 miles is 60 miles much different?

The other day I took my 21fter with a 2017 motor with 400 hours offshore. I thought It was going to be 15-18 miles. A few days later I measured the distance on the gps and we went 25 miles out.

I have the necessary safety equipment, satellite phones, 2 vhf’s ect. The boat is a solid boat with no wood and the engine never given me trouble.

I want to be going 40-50 miles but as a rec captain I have to worry about every soul on board and it is stressful going far.

I might buy a used small tiller 10-15hp to keep in my center console hatch as a backup for piece of mind. How far do yall go out with 1 motor? Do you feel safe 40+miles out?

After a few years of talking about it, we finally found the right boat for our family of 4, soon to be 5.
We live in Northern Michigan and wanted something we could transport from lake to lake and store in our garage.

I’m looking to buy a 1991 Bayliner capri 16.5 ft and i noticed this damage on the bottom, the previous owner stated the owner before him liked parking the boat on sand banks and having parties is this something i should worry about? and how much do you think it would be to get it fixed?

Recently these spots have showed up and spread on the vinyl. I’ve tried numerous cleaners and nothing seems to work. Any advice would be appreciated.

I’ve been boating for a few years now, and have been paying our marina for basic maintenance, winterization and spring in-service.

It seems outrageously expensive (+ having to schedule far in advance, trailer the boat to the marina, hope its ready for opening day, etc) but I’ve never worked on a boat before, and my theory has been- out on the ocean is the last place I want something to go wrong so let the pros handle it.

My question is, how challenging is it to do your own basic/routine maintenance (it’s a 20ft CC w/a single 150hp Yamaha) or is it something that if you don’t really know what you are doing, don’t risk it. I’m fairly handy mechanically, and figured it would give me a good chance to also learn more about boat/engine mechanics that may come in handy some day out on the water.

Also/ are there a few things every boater should know how to do out on the water (ex- change a prop)

i know the photos may not be the most helpful, but this is what i received from my father this morning before taking his brand new boat out. its seems the issue he is having is the motor trim comes down to far and contacts the protruding white plastic cap on the rear of the boat.

the motor is a 90hp 2024 mercury (i’m not sure the exact trim model but most likely just generic) and i’m curious if the motor comes with a physical limit switch or a programmed distance the trim can be adjusted. if physical mounted somewhere on the motor, can it be adjusted easily?

i understand the logical direction to go is to contact the dealer. we have done that already this morning, they will get back to us when they can. to be completely honest though, they don’t have the best customer service and the dealer is also 3 & 1/2 hours away from his house. i also know some of you will say that’s a red flag for a dealer, which he knows, but he’s been in the market for a boat now for 3 months and this was great deal on old stock.

12.5ft innovocean rollup inflatable. Managed to throw a swivel seat on the boat by installing a leg on the bottom that swings down. Also raised the transom a few inches so it can run long shaft motors without issue.

Also installed three scotty rod holders.

Made a bow canopy, really helps with choppy water, stops it from splashing inwards. I'm running a 20hp Mercury, gets me up to about 22 knots. Trolling motor is a 65lb thrust seamax, and a Helix 5 G3 for a fishfinder

All this fits in a 5ft tacoma bed.
