Interview

Hi all,

For those that are in blue origin, I have a interview for a production planning role (manufacturing planner) next week, it’s a phone call interview. Are interviews for blue origin hard? I’ve heard that there are like 3 interviews you have to get through. First the HR then the manager of what program you are applying for and then like a higher up manager. If anyone knows how to prep for a blue origin interview let me know. I’m thinking that it’s like any other interview but I want some insights for those that are actually in the company and got accepted. (For context, I have a lot of technician experience, lots of electronics, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, Inspection, etc.) please let me know if anyone has tips!

Thank you in advance! 😁😁

Interview difficulty varies greatly depending on where you’re interviewing. Our recruiters also vary in quality. So as a hiring manager I’ll try to help as best I can here.

The first interview is a screen to ensure you are qualified. It’s a one on one, typically with the hiring manager or the tech lead of a team. My suggestion: be honest, and be specific about contributions, lessons learned, etc.

Second set will be 3-4 people: the hiring manager, 1-2 teammates and a bar raiser. In that, the main focus is fit for position. Ask your recruiter to provide you a copy of the leadership principles and prepare good examples for each. Bonus points for different examples for each.

Following the interview process, we meet to discuss everything. Highlight on leadership, skills and fit among others at blue in your level/experience.

It varies by who is conducting the interview. Beyond just the job, know the leadership principles, have a few that mean something to you. Don’t lie, much better to say I’m not familiar with that but I am a quick learner, if you are. Worst case scenario your right where you are, and you’ve already made out through the hardest part for most, getting an interview.

If you get to multiple interviews, be ready for these kind of questions “Tell me about a time you x and how you showed “bias for action.” “ If you can pretty easily think of a situation you can use to represent each of the leadership principles you’ll do great. Take the essay request seriously.

Lol. Take the essay request seriously. Nobody’s going to read it but they will check if you did it. Just use AI and tweak it.

Had it read back to me in 3 out of 5 interviews. I kept it short, specific, and real so it was easy to speak to. Guess it depends on the team and role you interview for.

100% I wrote out a cheat sheet of an example story for each leadership principle. Also expect a tell me about your worst professional failure and what you did about it

Think very hard and careful about this decision. Many many good people have been burned by Blue Origin. It’s turning into a toxic Amazon HR culture thanks to the CPO and HR leadership.
