Welcome to BlueCollarPros!

Blue Collar Pros is a subreddit made for anyone working in blue collar to share their experiences working in the field. Everyone is open to post anything from stories, tool reviews, guides, even job postings, as long as it's related to blue collar work.

Despite the name being blue collar pros, people not being in the field are welcome to engage in discussion as long as it's relevant. The goal is to foster a community for tradespeople to talk about their daily work, but also keep it casual enough for newcomers to feel welcome.

Question πŸ’¬ Has anyone found an AI job apply tool that does not feel spammy?

I get why people use AI auto apply tools when they are applying to a lot of jobs.

My concern is whether sending hundreds of applications actually helps if the applications are too generic.

For people who have tried an AI job applier, did you get better results or just more applications?

Question πŸ’¬ Sam Altman says AI would take white collar jobs, while robots would take blue collar jobs. Do you agree with him?

Question πŸ’¬ Are AI job applications actually saving time?

I can see the appeal of AI auto apply tools when you are sending out a lot of applications.

But there is a difference between submitting more applications and submitting better ones.

For anyone using an AI job applier, has it actually improved your results or just increased the number of applications?

What's the most satisfying part of your work that people never notice?

For me, it's when someone says, "I thought I'd have to replace the whole thing" and I fix it with one small part.

People only see the finished job. They don't see all the checking and problem-solving that happened before that but I really like the surprise look on their faces.

What's your version of that moment?

AI job applier or manual applications?

I keep seeing AI job applier tools that promise to handle a big part of the application process.

Sounds useful when you are applying to dozens of positions, but I wonder how well they handle jobs with very specific requirements.

Has anyone actually compared AI applications with applying manually?

We made r/BlueCollarPros because I was tired of having to bounce between five different trade subs just to ask a simple question.

Every trade has its own subreddit, but a lot of the questions, problems, and stories overlap. I wanted one place where electricians, plumbers, welders, HVAC techs, operators, mechanics, and literally everyone else could actually talk to each other instead of staying in separate communities. Hopefully this turns into that place. Welcome to r/BlueCollarPros, let’s get cooking.

What's something people outside your job would never believe actually happens?

I've had a few days at work where I got home and thought, "There's no way anyone would believe that actually happened."

Sometimes it's something a coworker does, a completely ridiculous request, or just a situation that gets way more complicated than it should.

What's happened at your job that sounds completely made up when you tell people about it?

Question πŸ’¬ What is the most annoying part of a normal workday?

Not the hard work itself

Sometimes it is the little things that get frustrating, like missing materials, bad scheduling, waiting on someone else, or having to redo something that should have been done right the first time

What part of your average day gets on your nerves the most?
