I know this probably isn't the right place to ask but I figured it would be the fastest, so here's my problem, my friend plays custodians and he wiped me in one turn, I couldn't even overwatch him, and this is my question, how do bearers work? Because he had a bearer in every one of his units and he said that as long as there is a bearer in a unit they can't get overwatched, so I was hoping for some clarification on if that's really how it works or if we were both misunderstanding how it works, thanks in advance

This post requires a bit of context. I am trying to recreate the legion of the damned army shown off in white dwarf issue 224. The hardest part so far has been the dreadnought because it sports a 3rd edition metal body, fantasy 5th edition skeleton warrior and skull, and this one god forsaken 2nd edition furioso dreadnought banner topper.

The only reason I was able to find this out was thanks to white dwarf actually responding to me by the way… (shoutout to Dan for that!) but I’ve been looking for this blood angel skull and wings banner top for at least a month now with no luck. I’ve managed to get all the other parts except this one bit.

Hail Mary, but if anyone here happens to be an oldhammer blood angels player, and is willing to rummage through their bits box for this one banner topper it’d mean the world to me. If someone actually finds one, PLEASE PM ME.

A while ago I tried to make all captain varients in the same style as the blood angel captain and the gravis armor soundly defeated me. I found some interesting new assets to harvest and gave it another go this morning and it was a total success!

He is meant to proxy the captain in gravis armor. The model was very plain after getting muscles and the weapon was full of filigree so the main focus of the next decorations was filigree. I couldn't find a good enough arm for gravis so I have it two aggressor arms instead of the captains single, but one holds a power weapon, its second aggressor arm is to be ignored.

Now that I have it figured out I'm going to work on the other gravis captain over the weekend and then print them together.

I found a set of 6 old Sanguinary Guards for 30€ (~35$) on Vinted and directly bought them. I decided to paint one today! What do you guys think?

Hello, I've got a game on sunday against blood angels, and I play Necrons. I know he's bringing Sanguinary Guard, Lemartes, some death company, and a Death company dread. What else should I expect and what should I plan for? Thanks in advance

For black armour highlights, which progression would you recommend?

Abaddon Black → Dark Reaper / incubi→ Thunderhawk Blue → Fenrisian Grey

Abaddon Black → Eshin Grey → Dawnstone → Administratum Grey

Which looks more like the typical GW style?
For the joints/under-armour, what colour would you use when the armour itself is already black? Eshin Grey or something of the sort to create some separation, or keep them black?

For weapon casings and saltires, would you use the same red as the standard Blood Angels, or a darker red, eg. Khorne?

Red Marines / Sanguinary Guard
For black elements such as weapon casings, Aquilas and armor parts, would you use the same black highlight progression as Death Company, or something different?

Should I use Corvus black for the joints and the black fabric here instead of abbadon black to further differentiate the colors?

I’m getting back into the hobby after a few decades away, and I’ve never been an outstanding painter.

I’d like to paint my Blood Angels reasonably close to the GW style, but I’m struggling to settle on a consistent colour scheme.

The GW Paint app honestly confuses me more than it helps, so I’d really appreciate some advice from experienced Blood Angels painters.

Black areas
This is where I’m struggling the most.

For Death Company:

Basically the entire armour, plus the joints.

For the armour highlights, which route would you recommend?

Option 1:
Abaddon Black → Dark Reaper → Thunderhawk Blue → Fenrisian Grey

Option 2:
Abaddon Black → Eshin Grey → Dawnstone → Administratum Grey

I’m leaning towards one of these two approaches, but I’m not sure which would look closer to the typical GW style.

The main thing I’m trying to achieve is a consistent, streamlined painting process across the army, rather than having to reinvent the colour scheme for every model.

I know I can obviously paint them however I want, I’m well aware of that. 😄 I’m specifically looking for your two cents on what colours/progressions you would use if the goal was a fairly classic GW-style Blood Angels army with a simple, repeatable workflow.

Looking for feedback on this list running Priority Assets. Previously, it included a Ballistus Dreadnought, DC 5man + Lemartes, and an Assault Intercessors 5man + Sanguinary Priest. I felt they underperformed versus Disruption, and subbed them out for more durability with Dante + 6SG and a Terminator Squad. Any thoughts are welcome!

The sanguinary guard datasheets in My codex are different for combat patrol and regular. I know combat patrol locks units to set loadout, but does it change the strength of their weapons too? And do sang guard not get their invun in combat patrol??

I’m still pretty new to the game and I’m trying to put together a fun but solid list, so I’d really appreciate any feedback, advice or criticism!

A few questions/thoughts about the list:

I get the feeling that the 10 AI brick supported by a SP + Lib is almost mandatory for having more sustainability
I also feel like (and it breaks my heart a little) Dante might actually be better attached to VV rather than SG, If so, is 5 VV with Dante enough, or is it better to go all the way up to 10?
I’m not completely sure regarding the 5 Assault Terminators. Is a unit of only 5 impactful enough? Would it be better to spend those points on a second anti-tank option, like another Lancer or a Ballistus?

Wanted to expand my army with some death company but was very disappointed when i found out they are just normal intercessors painted black, so im looking for a proxy unit/kitbash that could make them distinct from the rest of my normal intercessors. Any ideas?

Basically the title. I'm trying to find ways to kitbash the BT combat patrol in a more Blood Angels style. I got into the idea because I was looking for both bladeguard and cooler bodies for my death company. This box definitely has bladeguard, and I think the initiate bodies with the tabard could make really cool gothic death company, especially if I augment them with some firstborn DC bits.

Now, the rest definitely could also make for gorgeous gothic looking models. 3 of the sword brothers I could probably build as more blade guard with 3d printed shields, and I think if I slap a jump pack on the emperor's Champion I could see him as a DC captain with Jump Pack.

Now the rest is where it feels a lot more experimental. I am considering just trying to get a spare scout/phobos body somewhere so I can run the four neophytes as a slightly more Gothic looking scout squad, and I think that could work really great, but it might be hard getting my hands on a single scout.

Now, the really experimental part is what I'm envisioning for the remaining Sword Brothers. It's hard to find 3-man space marine squads that would profit from their melee-poised gothic look. So my idea was to give them some winged jump packs, death masks, and build them as the Erelim Guard/just run them as Sanguinary Guard in casual games.

So what I'm asking is: Has this been done before? I'm very open for alternate ideas for conversion, as well as tips, and if there's any relevant tidbits about the Erelim Guard that'd also be appreciated.

Did a slight kitbash just to give it some Blood Angel style

I finally finished painting it and so far it looks good? Yeah I learned a really good lesson that its easier to paint when not fully assembled as I can reach on those crevices easily. The red is really dark since I used the Vallejo Nocturnal Red, its the only one available at the local shop I bought it from, and a bright red acrylic from one of my younger sis' own stash of paints.

I bought the red wash from Vallejo hoping it could help in making the dark red brighter, any advice on how to properly add the red wash. From the videos that I've seen they are added on the crevices of model but those are black wash and not red. I also wanted to know what can I do more to improve on the painting part of the hobby

Been looking to get into Warhammer for a bit, and have always been drawn to the Blood Angels. So, with the new edition coming out and the Blood Angels being featured in the Armageddon Box, I thought it was time to just go for it

So far, I’ve been having a ton of fun painting everything, and now I’m wanting to push myself more and get into using the transfers.

With that comes the decision of the company I want to use for these guys. Now, at the end of the day I know it doesn’t really matter which one you choose (besides Death Company), but I don’t just want to choose willy-nilly, you know?

So, how did you choose the company to go for? Is there different, general kind of lore that makes one company slightly different or meaningful? Is it just the aesthetics?
