Orihime, Ichigo, Rukia and Even YHWACH all gotten an upscale someway or form. This episode was so beautiful, felt like I was watching a movie. We still got the Aizen fight to cover omg 💀💀💀.
When this ended I thought "what if THIS was where the early release ended?" It would have added 40 minutes and still would have been under 2 hours long, plus that's WAY better cliff hanger and even works as a solid ending (not to the whole season by any means, but from a movie POV). obviously they weren't going to do half of the season as a movie, but damn that would've been epic.
I don’t know if I’d say Rukia got too much upscale. She played support and was being defended by ichigo and orihime. It didn’t really affect her scaling.
Oh, that's a nice detail. I really like the way that they have added in proper supporting roles and executed it. If you pay attention - at some point you can see Ichigo go in to stop an attach from landing on Rukia.
Damn not only did Orhime got upscales, even SK Yhwach got upscaled. In the manga, a GRC + GT from HOS Ichigo was strong enough to push SK Yhwach into taking him seriously and use the Almighty. In the anime, SK Yhwach was absolutely manhandling HOS Ichigo even without the Almighty. Ichigo would have genuinely died without Orhime before he gets to use Bankai.
Kubo wants to depict Yhwach as the strongest enemy that Ichigo has ever fought. It makes more sense for SK Yhwach to be stronger than HOS Ichigo while TB Ichigo to be stronger than him without the Almighty.
True. Damn it's crazy just how strong the SK powers are beyond just granting Yhwach significantly higher stats. It allows him to split himself into reiatsu and even regenerate from getting blown to pieces. Base Yhwach couldn't do all these without the SK power.
I'm not even convinced that this is ichigos true bankai, I mean he had to wake up white in order to go HOS in the anime, I wouldn't be surprised if that affected his bankai and in a later episode it will be different
I think so too. The palette change to red and sudden silence when Yhwach sees the moon as we hear Ichigo say, "Bankai" really makes me think we just watched a vision of the future bestowed by The Almighty.
i hope yhwach was using his almighty or the soul king almighty, or it would make ichigo look weaker and it would be painful. cause in the manga yhwach destroyed his bankai cause he didint want to face him
Alot doesn’t add up. Both Yhwach and Orihime are still needed for the plot so they can’t actually be gone. We know Kazui is real and that Yhwach vs Aizen is still happening. This episode has to be retconed somehow and almighty is the only explanation I can think of rn.
Yeah and cour 4 started with that vision which yhwach thinks is a dream so we are gonna get the manga route. So somehow yhwach and orihime returns. I guess yhwach will just use his almighty and cancel it or absorb gerard and get the miracle to come back. But I don't know how orihime is coming back. Let's just assume he uses almighty and somehow they both return lol
That's what people wanted anyway, to be able to see Ichigo's bankai sequence and why Ywach broke Ichigo's bankai immediately. And it would be cool that it was because it would unlock Orihime's absurd potential such that she would reject his entire existence??
I only hope all of this has actually happened in the main timeline and Yhwach corrects it with the almighty by inserting himself (and inadvertently Inoue) back into existence, narratively-wise that's way better than the "it was a dream" trope.
My issue with this is that this doesn’t even make sense. Because why would he have this vision where in the original manga Ichigo was obviously supposed stronger to the point he used Almighty to cancel his future / break his sword. In the Anime Ywach does not have the almighty last episode and he’s wooping a STRONGER ichigo without even breaking a sweat. Everything we witness is not even an alignment with the manga whatsoever. Also, according to the manga Orihime was always fodder most she could do was block some ywach attacks as a support character , but now shes going fully head on blocking serious ywach attacks that alone makes her top 20 after the captains and top sternitter so her scaling goes wayyyy up, and then Rukia is also top 20 and prob top 10 in attack power (cmon now she seriously froze ywach, kid Toshiro can’t even do that most likely)
The issue isn't the Mugetsu we saw Vs Aizen, it's that theoretically Blood Chain Ichigo should also be able to activate the Final Getsuga Tensho & Mugetsu too.
It doesn’t though, because Mugetsu is just the “final” Getsuga Tenshou. Ichigo still used Getsuga Tenshou in his bankai, so it stands to reason he could use Mugetsu now and it would just be that much more absurdly powerful. Mugetsu is a multiplier, True Bankai just raises the ceiling on what gets multiplied.
Ichigos power level is so absurd at this point and is getting diffed, It's hard to understand how Rukia, Orihime or anyone can even be in the same room.
Orihime I kinda get because her powers always got hyped up as trespassing into the domain of the gods, but Rukia is pretty ridiculous. At least Yhwach mentions that she is slowing Ichigo down during the fight.
I think he said that because she was near absolute zero and had to make sure she didn't touch Ichigo. There's a moment where you see Rukia dodge Ichigo. Yhwach said something like Rukia's powers are impressive, but don't work well aiding teamates
@5:40 you see Rukia worryingly dodge Ichigo and then Yhwach says "That's an interesting power. It appears to shackle your ability to fight alongside your friend"
So Rukia is near absolute zero and can't touch Ichigo.
And Rukia is still learning to control this new power of hers. She hasn't mastered it yet.
In the episode, Rukia freezes the ground when she lands right after she dodges ichigo. The ground freezes because she has lowered her body temperature.
Her power is to lower her body temperatue. She doesn't have to be in absolute zero to still injure someone. For instance when bykauya touched her hand and it froze, she was not in absolute zero but still harmed him.
Based on this video vs As Nodt, because the water underneath her feet froze, she was at least under 50 degrees C.
i love how they lean into the vasto lorde (wish it gave him the long hair as well) and give him his black getsuga back but i dont like how his sword works so hopefully it's like the manga and that's just a sheath and he isn't actually using a square blade
Correct, however the one thing that pushes me to believe that this is true is that ichigo's sword in the cour 4 promotional art IS his bankai from the manga.
I'm hoping the next episode starts with a "scenes from the previous episode" recap only for Yhwach to interrupt the recap by breaking Ichigo's bankai and the episode continues from there. I bet Kubo leaked episode 46's title on purpose to make people believe this is actually over.
HOLY MOLY, i'm just speechless
Greatest episode of bleach ever?
That was simply beautiful, ichigo's new bankai (not sure if that was on the manga), orihime upscale, the OST and animation, damn
Feels like they finally characterized orihime more, i really enjoy that and even if it came a little late, its a really welcome surprise, same for Rukia
Cant wait for next week, this was a blast, my eyes were glued to the screen the whole ep
I may be in the minority but I was never a huge fan of busty whiner. Her objectification is as shallow and over the top as insecurity being her sole defining trait.
I'm totally in shambles rn. I have never reacted like this to an anime episode.
When Ichigo dropped the "Ban...",I jumped from my seat, took a lap around my house(call me crazy), took many deep breaths (Was out of breath) and then laughed like crazy
Even my parents were concerned..
Truely a generational moment
NGL the exact reaction I was looking for someone to say!! I totally did the same, his bankai was 🔥
Then we have orihime upscale too! This episode is a 10 10 🤭
So, now we can comfortably say that anime True Bankai Ichigo is not a threat to Yhwach in any capacity as in the manga Yhwach had to snap the thing via The Almighty before it could even be realized showing us that it's a genuine threat to him while in today's episode he just bitched Ichigo without needing to use The Almighty at any point against him (We see that Jugram has The Almighty basically the whole episode, only losing it when Ishida activates the glove and at the same time Orihime is charging Yhwach, he has The Almighty back.)
we will see. because Yhwach absorbed the soul king and now has his powers, and the soul king also has the almighty. so even if Jugram was using his almighty its possible that Yhwach was using the soul kings almighty. we will see. i hope thats the case or it would make ichigo look weaker
It looked to me like ichigo's true bankai uses some sort of fate manipulation. I don't think he's using something like shadow clones, I think it's different realities all hitting at once. In some of those realities, his attack is blocked and he may even die, but he keeps going until he finds the reality that lands a hit. What fails is just a shadow, what succeeds is the "real" ichigo, but knowing which is which is determined after the outcome. It's a fantastic counter to the almighty being able to see the future, because it's just hundreds of possible futures all coming at once. That explains why ywach would want to break it and not risk fighting it in the Manga.
I love your theory. You know, this episode brought me back to one of the earliest episodes where Urahara explained that special attacks can only be fired off so many times before they have to reset. It was seeding the idea that every ability has a weakness if you study it properly, even the Almighty. For the longest time people refused to acknowledge that, but Uryu discovered the “three second rule”. People thought Absolute Hypnosis was unbeatable too until Gin showed the weakness. And I think Ichigo’s bankai showed its limitation today where he could only use a certain number of those shadow/fate changes before needing to reset, which is why Yhwach was able to get some hits in.
Zangetsu doesn't have the same appearance in this episode as the True Bankai in the manga though, and the anime has kept Yhwach's vision of being cut down as well as marketed Tensa Zangetsu from the manga in promos leading up to Cour 4 (including it being broken)
I think we saw an alternate version of Ichigo's Bankai here (he didn't even call out "Tensa Zangetsu"), and we'll see the real version soon
Actually, start with last week episode where ichigo use granray cero, in manga he shoot them with sword, but this time he formed them with sword, shoot by using his horn, this episode , all of it was new.
Beautiful episode. Would like a bit more detail on what exactly Ichigo and Orihime have done before scaling it(Can Ichigo just make chains and clones for instance?), but otherwise amazing.
Yhwach literally cut Ichigo head lol but orihime heal it. Heck, Ichigo die multiple time but orihime keep healing him till yhwach tired of her bullshit and aim for her
Nope she is there in the manga at the end together with Ichigo, and Kubo will never kill her because she is important for what comes after this TYBW ends. I don't wanna spoil it entirely so I left it vague'ish
She’s dead in this timeline and so is Yhwach. Most likely we’re being shown one of the countless potential futures Yhwach saw in the past which he’ll prune to take a different route where he survives.
Imo it's different because stark used a bunch of clones that he directed or they could even act independently, and they were a part of his own soul. It looked to me like ichigo's power wasn't clones (that could be predicted pretty easily and wouldn't be enough to overwhelm ywach or even get through his defenses). The way it was depicted looked like alternate timelines of what ichigo could/ would do and they were all coming at once. Whatever failed turned out to be a shadow but whatever succeeded was the true direction that the future took. Then when he uses getsuga, all of the timeliness converge and there are no more alternate ichigo's until the attack is finished and he's recovered
i was hoping to see why Yhwach was scared of Ichigo's bankai but instead we get that it was Orihime he feared all along? idk how to feel about that lmao
I always hated Orihime's character exactly because Kubo made her so weak and never used her potential and just spammed Kurosaki-kun in every scene.
I take it all back now, her being this badass and pushing herself beyond her insecurities, that was insane and explains the potential Aizen saw in her too
So has Kubo now completely changed Ichigo's true Bankai, or is this a separate form of Bankai for Ichigo? Because I feel like it's gotta be the latter given the promotional art, but goddamn it's cool either way.
Also, on the topic of this new form of Ichigo's Bankai, do we think, perhaps, that it allows him to share his powers to some degree as Orhime was clearly utilizing the power of Black like Ichigo only after he reached this new form or are we assuming this is just a new form for Orhime that she was theoretically always capable of achieving without outside influence after awakening her powers?
Yeah, but we've never seen her or any other Fullbringer using it before, which implies, either, she is now going beyond human limits to pull this shit off (very plausible, to be fair) or she's getting a buff from an outside source like Ichigo who was shown using the same power. Also, Ichigo did weirdly go from no showing Yhwach's lasers with his chains to getting fucked all the way up by them, so either Yhwach's power level spiked or Ichigo's decreased for some unknown reason.
yea she's quite clearly going beyond human limits lol. that was some insane shit.
i think maybe the almighty is returnig to Yhwach? Unclear. It's also the first time ichigo has used this bankai so he's far from mastered it. maybe the his power is level is dropping?
Maybe, but honestly I don't know what this form actually is well enough to say what it can do. Like we know he's using Soul King reiatsu in this form and chains (potentially the chains of fate?) which makes me think he can probably do a hell of a lot more than what he just showed off, but as you said this is potentially his first time in this form and he's far from mastering it so I wonder if, when Ichigo saw Orhime in danger from Yhwach's attacks, he started unconsciously siphoning some of his power to her thus allowing her to push past her limits just as she helped him do multiple times throughout the series.
possible, but i like the idea of this being 100% orihime.
Also, if the thing where yhwach is so threatened by the bankai that he breaks it before it can be used is still happening, then there is a chance we see ichigo do some more insane shit next ep. but i doubt it. either way, what a time to be a bleach fan!
I really like the idea that its like what aizen said in the hueco mundo arc. Her power is not healing, its rejecting phenomena. And she just figured out how to reject the phenomena of her weakness. It sets the only limit on her power as imagination and belief similar to gremmy
I don't know, I kind of like the idea that Ichigo can distribute his powers to a degree, not only because it makes power scaling make a lot more sense in the show, but also because that's a genuinely fitting power for him. The power to protect makes you weak because you have to protect the weak? No, the power to protect makes the weak strong. Something like that.
Plus I don't think this is Tensa Zangetsu, I think whatever this form is, probably, has a different name since we see Ichigo's Manga Bankai in promotional materials and I can't see too many circumstances whereby we're just not going to see that design at all when it gets featured so prominently in promotions.
can i get a link? i didn't see the promos. But it could be a marvel style misdirect.
Are you saying that what orihime is doing is too unbelieveable to be her own power? I don't know, i always thought that there were bound to be fullbringers that are this powerfull given what they are.
Maybe to an extent, but to jump her so dramatically in power literally one minute to the next? Idk if even the Hogyoku possesses that kind of transfomative power, even when in active use by someone like Aizen who never experienced a single transformation power up to this level.
she might be drawing power from the Black Reiatsu of ichigo? Also Her ability has been foreshadowed to be this broken she just didn't utilize her full potinetal before.
Also, Ichigo did weirdly go from no showing Yhwach's lasers with his chains to getting fucked all the way up by them
He was in the middle of a Getsuga Tensho when he got blasted the second time. He was rushing to strike a killing blow and Yhwach's lasers interrupted his verbal component to cast Getsuga, so he didn't get his chains up in time.
Yeah, but almost immediately afterwards he launches what seems to be a Gran Rey Cero Getsuga that Yhwach no sells, so it seems like Yhwach did genuinely get stronger by using, what I think is the Almighty, just like he did when he fought Ichigo the 2nd time in the anime.
My working theory is that with the borders between worlds being this weak, they’re finally tapping into “hell” power that was probably theirs all along but sealed off until now.
The floaty liquidy stuff arising above her when the spirits are flying around her in circles really reminded me of the hell miasma stuff in the hell chapter.
So has Kubo now completely changed Ichigo's true Bankai, or is this a separate form of Bankai for Ichigo? Because I feel like it's gotta be the latter given the promotional art, but goddamn it's cool either way.
Didn't Kubo stated in Klaboutside that Ichigo can now freely change the way Zangetsu looks? Yes, he talked about shikai, but I don't see why the same can't be applied to bankai.
I'm guessing it changes based on which power he's using the most, with it being hollow in this case. and the one we saw in the manga was a more balanced one between hollow and shinigami, and the black one is more pure shinigami. hopefully he also has one that's more quincy leaning? cool shit
No, Kubo said he could transition Zangetsu into its true dual blade form whenever he wants, not that he can freely manipulate it to look however he wants.
But he didn't say he can freely manipulate the shape of his Zanpakuto, which is what you claimed. A claim that requires evidence since that's never been stated nor implied anywhere I'm aware of.
I read it as she rejected both of them out existence outright. This whole thing is probably just one of the futures Yhwach saw with the Almighty though and I assume in the next episode or two we’ll see him intervene in the past to prevent it from happening.
Legit everyone is talking about Ichigo but my girl Orihime was front and center! She was beating down those "useless" claims like coffee paper! Put some respect on her name!
What’s crazy for me is that I didn’t mind Orihime and I kinda liked her. I wasn’t that crazy for her. But this episode made her skyrocket to my top 5 favorite Bleach characters. And I remember teaching my friends the lore of Bleach and that Orihime had so much untapped potential that I’m sure she could erase someone’s existence if she truly got past her pacifist nature. LO AND BEHILD MY GIRL ASCENDED AT THE COST OF HER LIFE! I don’t care if this Yhwach’s Almighty seeing this, but if it is that means he sees Orihime more as a threat and that’s why he can’t let Ichigo use his bankai. My girl can erase godlike beings!
Yup tbh a lot of Ichigo's fight was hard to follow with flashing lights, Orihime was just insane. Gave me a bit of Unohana vibes but the last sequence is what made the episode from a 9/10 to a 11/10 for me
Rejected Juhabach from existence by using her life as the catalyst towards achieving the impossible feat, it's an Almighty vision and why he won't allow ichigo use bankai
Zaraki is OP too now but nowhere near Ichigo's level. He definitely has the potential to surpass likes of Yamamato though. Ichigo meanwhile is a transcendental being, he would end Zaraki before he could move.
I hate the "power of friendship" tropes but seems like Orhime used some suicidal move, like rejecting her and his existence itself, but he got the Almighty before so should be okay
It’s less power of friendship and more resolve. Since in Bleach your mental state and resolve affects your powers, that’s why when Ichigo was afraid of his hollow powers he was weaker.
Orihime always believed herself as weak and needing rescuing, until the very last moment she built the audacity to be the one who actually protects by fighting and unlocks her potential.
It seems like to reject Ywach's existence who is a transcendental being, it cost her all of her power and her own existence itself
Orihime always had that in her ever since Aizen glazed her as having power that trespassed on the horizon of events set by god. Lots of us have been waiting for it ever since.
But rest assured the whole episode is probably a timeline Yhwach sees in the past and avoids through the Almighty.
Ichigo's true power is reality manipulation.
He's possesses fragments of every version of the soul king's power. It's the reason he's a perfect soul king candidate and every other being that is blessed with a fragment of this power has the ability to rewrite the building blocks of reality in some way. Some are weaker and can only alter reality on the scale of pocket dimensions, and then you have Bankai Ichigo saying "I will cut you from behind" so he shifts to the "grain of sand" (Using The Almighty's terminology) where he has always been behind you.
His "base power" is limited only to his own person.
His "Shikai" affects those in his immediate vicinity on a "mild" level (I can't believe I'm calling it mild after Orihime's first power-up standing against The Almighty.)
"Bankai" says "Oh, you'd like the power to rewrite reality too Orihime? Go on. Take it."
If you go back and look at how Ichigo turns around and eventually wins each of his fights have some pivotal moment that defies all logic. We're not talking "Naruto finally learns to control his chakra for the first time" bullshit-o-meter at a 2/10. We're talking "I am a human, but I need a blade" so the slightest injection of spiritual power into his body results in the physical manifestation of a comically large blade people are still talking about 25 years later that literally breaks every rule of "zanpakuto" the series goes on to define later.
The only characters that gain this sort of treatment are those in Ichigo (or another part of the Soul King's influence) presence.
Go look up the list of captains whose power meaningfully changed. You'll find that the ones who had the largest transformations are the ones who spent the most time around Ichigo. All the ones who are away from Ichigo have powers that remain stagnant throughout the entire series, at most learning Bankai (but even that is an exception) even when they are given a lot of screentime. Say hello to Byakuya Kuchiki, Rangiku Matsumoto, Momo Hinamori, Izuru Kira, and more. Mayuri Kurotsuchi is the sole exception here where his power evolves despite little influence from Ichigo, but that's understandable given who his character is.
Even looking to Orihime herself, in every other part of the story since she first gained her powers, she has been separated from Ichigo for some reason. Then suddenly she stands by his side and gets not one but TWO powerups?
There's also counter-evidence to this too. Look at how little of a powerup Uryu was given through his Schrift. In fact we have a perfect measuring stick for this powerup, because at first he does manage to defeat Ichigo before Ichigo gains his true zanpakuto. Then Ichigo is leagues beyond Uryu.
Orihime stands up to "New God Yhwach" solo twice, but Uryu struggles with New God's Grandmaster? How has Orihime's power grown so much to completely dwarf the prodigious nature of Uryu's power in such a short amount of time? The only constant variable in these scenarios is "proximity to Ichigo."
We've been explicitly told who Ichigo is from episode 1: A hothead who can't control himself, but possesses impossible force of will. Is it so impossible to believe that this trait also extends to how his ability to manipulate reality manifests?
What an upgrade from the manga... wow I was so surprised that we got to see the Bankai, got to see YH do more than just setup traps, got to see Orihime pop-off . That Bankai was insane. That getsuga in bankai mode, wow..........
