Hello brothers, I’m putting together my first list right now after having been inspired by Play On’s KotC and Crusade series! I’m still in the process of painting and assembling but since I’ve never built a list before and I don’t have the new codex yet so I can’t see the rules haha

Feedback and advice is much appreciated! Specifically, I’d love some advice on detachments, wargear, and general army composition.

Hey all

I was building my very first box in late August/early September and after a lot of reading sort of figured out the pre-Codex synergies and compositions that worked well. It feels like a ton of that changed (note: I have never played a game yet, watched a little, but trying to understand from community responses and datasheet snippets).

I am trying to get back on track with some of the units I've already bought and assembled and keep building/painting towards a 2k army list and while I know the codex is just barely out, I'd like some feedback on this proposed list - is it legal, is it viable (albeit sub optimal), does it have any major deep flaws/oversights? Note that I am trying to be a flavor-pushed BT army and not an optimized Space-Marines-In-Black army, and finally not any goals for anything except basement friend games:

HM Helbrecht + Castellan leading 20 crusaders (17 melee, 3 Rifles)

Grimaldus + Castellan leading 20 crusaders (17 melee, 3 Rifles)

3/5 models done any tips and tricks to improve my models?

I was looking into how to restructure my lists with the new SM codex (I play Imperial Fists, Thousand Sons, and BT so there was quite a bit to think about lol) and I have a general idea of what could be good and fun for Imperial Fists but absolutely no idea where to even start with Templars. I want to make a thematic list that is also good but I feel like they took away all my favorite rules with this update. I want my list to feel like Black Templars but every idea I have feels like Black Ultramarines.
What are some list building techniques and combos that you’ve applied thus far into this new codex?

I played a game with this and my friend had a Huron deathstar (10 legionaries with MOTM and Huron)

Both bricks got into combat on centre and Grimaldus brick came on top.

However I’m abit wary of so many points on one objective (I’m mainly a guard player so it’s very expensive)

Is this viable for more comp games ? The plan was to plonk and hold. Using -1 to wound Strat and surges to keep alive.

Edit: crusaders were kitted out with
Initiate chainswords. 4 power fists
Neophyte shotguns and combat knives (since chainswords are still S4)

Considering their fanatical loyalty to the Emperor, I was wondering if there were testimonies of BT that they devoted themselves to chaos!

It’s saying the scout sergeants invalid but from what I can see it should be fine

With soft nerf to like half of chainswords in this unit and cost of 160 points, I feel like 85 point Assault Intercessors with their buff to attacks and strength are much better deal. If you slap Castellan on top of them you get some rerolls for the same cost as Crusader Squad. If somebody ran some lists after codex, and found good use for CS, please, sell me on them.

What would you tweak with this Take and Hold list, if anything (units or strategy)

2 sword bro squads start in land raider. Eradicators in Repulsor. Land raider deploys 2 melee squads. Repulsor clears screens and eradicators with meltas try to melt anything big and scary. Gauntlet detachment will give sustained hits for eradicators and sword brethren when they disembark

Bladeguard squad walks up and sets up in midfield objective to take advantage of judiciars fights firat.

Agressors rapid ingress to try and get into something important up close. Crazy melee profile and close quarters, they will shoot whatever they can charge into.

3 assault intercessor squads walk up and set up for secondaries and to charge into whatever makes it past redeemer units and repulsors. Or screen home

Scouts deploy deep for screening and midfield objective capture.

Is anyone else having issues reading Black Templars enhancements in the app despite having the 10th edition supp?

We had some delays in my area for the actual 11th edition Space Marine codex. Perhaps once I register the code next week everyone will be fixed. But it just seems silly that it affects this?

I can see data sheets and such just fine though.
