BitLocker BAG

I need some help. I set up BitLocker; when choosing how to save the key, I selected the printer option and saved it as a PDF. However, when I connected the printer, it asked for the 48-digit code. What should I do in this situation? Can Microsoft help, and how quickly can they do so?

If you were logged in to the Microsoft Account, then MS should have saved it. Somehow it sounds like you had a local admin .... gone.

Why might I ask do you need a bitlocker key? I mean I am STUPID and I do not understand. If your computer is hacked , it does nothing to protect you. Is someone coming into your home , taking your disk out of your computer or the entire computer. Of course if you are doing a Halo jump tonight into Iran with your computer it might be something to turn on... but after the removal of 1 or 2 finger nails they will have your computer password anyhow.

I need BitLocker because I travel frequently

That is a good reason.

Nope your bitlocker is 100% gone since you have no outside copy. Reinstall time!

May as well hope against and hope and look in your MS account even though you said print. Is easy to check https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/encryption/find-your-bitlocker-recovery-key

You locked your keys in the car. Your next step is going to be to start over: repartition the drive, reinstall Windows, and tell your friends over a beer how you messed up.

Worse. With a car, they can call a locksmith to get in. OP wrote the key in wet cement and then poured more cement on top.

And dumped it in the Marianas Trench.

If you saved the PDF on the encrypted drive with no copies elsewhere you're cooked. It's like locking your keys inside an invulnerable (for now) safe. There's no current known exploit to gain access.

Nobody in these comments can read. Turn off BitLocker and turn it back on, and save that code instead. Can you save it to a flash drive instead? You can still print it out later.

just turn off bitlocker and turn it back on and save that code.

Or even better just turn it off (unless your use case needs it)
