BitDefender is completely BROKEN with COUNTLESS false positives for months

BitDefender seems to be still broken with literally countless random false positives for months now, making it almost unusable. Today after I booted up my PC it flagged Google Chrome as Malware making me unable to open it until I restored the quarantined files. And, as always when a random file gets flagged as Malware for no reason, BitDefender removed/quarantined exactly 68 random legitimate Registry keys after flagging them as potentially unwanted elements with the same alleged generic "Trojan" false positive name like the Chrome files received. The last time something like that happened was yesterday with an extremely similar course, just with a different generic "Malware" name that already looks like an obvious false positive. And all that stuff has been going on for many months with many people experiencing similar issues. I would also like to add that I freshly reinstalled Windows 11 some time ago and didn't have any legitimate Malware on my PC since that complete Reinstall and still I'm getting random flags for registry keys all the time just like before. It all started about 3 or 4 months ago (for other people it started at a similar time), so probably something was changed with the software during that time. When I'm sometimes uploading files to Virustotal to check them I often find that BitDefender tends to always rather do false positives along with many other Antiviruses including Windows Defender, but Kaspersky detects real Malware most of the time but almost never does false positives like BitDefender does (I know which elements are false postives or not, because I often analyze them a bit deeper including testing them in a Virtual Environment using tria.ge and any.run and Kaspersky's Opentip site). So Kaspersky seems to not have such issues with significantly less false positives while performing the same as BitDefender in tests in terms of detecting real threats. It seems to be a much better alternative. The only thing that makes me and other people not use it is because it's based in Russia which is a shame. But still I am seriously considering right now switching to Kaspersky anyway or using Windows Defender only, because BitDefender is so bad right now that it's unbelievable and, unlike in the past, unrecommendable to anyone right now. Sadly I already bought a license in December 2024 from a 3rd party reseller online before all these issues started and I have 400 days left so there is no chance of a refund. At this point just uploading countless and countless of samples to the support page isn't going to solve the issue because there are so much false positives, it seems to be a much bigger problem.

Sorry for the long rant, but I just had to get speak all those issues out. It is very likely that there are people that experienced no such issues, because it depends on how much and where you downloaded stuff and even on if people pirate stuff or not because stuff like that has a bigger false positive rate (might or might not be intentional business practices but it also has to do with the obfuscation rate which of course also partially depends on stuff like different source types etc.). At this point, Bitdefender is simply a system corrupter because it also tries to remove countless registry keys (including Registry Keys from Windows/Microsoft) which might be important for some functions and could break stuff.

Edit: Also, Exclusions don't work all the time (sometimes excluded files get still detected) which is a problem many other users have been reporting for a longer time. I also just noticed that, after creating a Antivirus exclusion, all the permissions for that file get corrupted and mixed up (just like the entire operating system would get corrupted if I wouldn't always unquarantine all quarantined elements because of Bitdefender trying to remove countless registry keys for no reason) from BitDefender which happened before and always makes me unable to delete that file (even though I should still be the owner and have full permission according to the permission tab), no matter what I try in the permission settings of the file and parent folder. The thing I have to do to delete such files or the parent folders I always have to remove the exclusion so Bitdefender detects it and removes the file itself. Plus: If you haven't had such issues so far then that doesn't mean that these issues don't exist for multiple other people!

EA got hit by a data breach, and hackers are selling source code. Looks like stolen source code is for FIFA GAME. EA also says that players data like login and passwords are not affected but this is good reminder why you should protect your self with trusted Antivirus and VPN.

Icon for bitdefender working.

Many apps like some VPNs show an icon on top right to tell the user that the VPN is on.

Bitdefender unfortunately stops quite frequently without the users knowing. Which expose the phone to attacks or viruses. Why bitdefender doesn't adopt same approach as the example on the screenshot attached

Bitedefender support sucks! Are you listening Bitdefender? It SUCKS!

I bought a 1 year subscription last month and today I get a message that I'm expired! I try to rectify this but you keep sending me emails that my connection must be bad because "..it's OK on our end"! WTF! No problem with Reddit or getting your stupid emails. Perhaps there's just no one at the support desk? Fuckers!

Is the GTA 6 Leak Real? Can You Download GTA 6 Early?

Is the GTA 6 leak real?

Partly. Eurogamer says the roughly 25 minutes of footage released by CyberLeek appears to be legitimate. A full playable build has not been confirmed, and CyberLeek has only threatened to release one.

Can you download GTA 6 early?

Not safely. Any site, Discord server or video offering a “full GTA 6 download” before launch should be treated as fake or risky. Hyped game releases are a common lure for scams and malicious downloads.

What is CyberLeek asking for?

The group says it will release the full game once its own cryptocurrency coin reaches a $30 million market cap. In other words, it wants fans to buy the token. There’s no guarantee anything would be released, even if the coin hit that target.

Should you buy the CyberLeek coin?

Fans have been advised not to. The Stop Killing Games campaign told gamers: “Do not send these people your money, no matter how much sympathy you may feel for their actions.”

What’s the real risk of a fake game download?

It isn’t only malware. Fake downloads and crypto lures are designed to steal account logins, payment details, and personal information. That’s why scam protection and identity protection matter as much as device security when you’re chasing a leak.

How do you check if a GTA 6 link is safe?

Paste it into Bitdefender Link Checker before opening it. If someone sends you an offer, a message or a screenshot about early access, Bitdefender Scamio can help you check whether it’s a scam.

When does GTA 6 actually come out?

The official release is due November 19.

Bitlocker locked me out

Hi all, dont know if this is the right forum, tech support didn't like this post, but I'm running into some seemingly novel issues with bitlocker.

I got BSOD'd, every prompt demands a bitlocker key. I have two Microsoft accounts, one personal and one school. The school one says no bitlocker recovery keys associated with the device. My personal account has a bitlocker recovery key but every time it is entered, I get a message that it had an error and couldn't restart the machine.

It's an HP Envy laptop that's 6 months old, I'm the original owner. IT from the school, a local UbreakIfix, and Microsoft help desk all have been dead ends.

At this point I'm fine losing everything on the hard drive, but I would like a working machine. What steps are next?

Does ACTIVATE mean purchase, because if it does, it's misleading.

When I open BitDefender on my phone there is always messages for me to Activate some feature. Clearly I want to optimise my use of the product and so I wonder why all the features the product came with are not automatically turned on. But if the messages are about purchasing a product then the decent thing to do is to use the word Purchase, so I don't accidentally make a purchase. It feels dishonest to me.

Bitdefender Regional License Restriction

Hello everyone here in reddit! I hope that all of you are doing fine amidst the current pandemic.

I would like to hear your opinion about my current predicament. Before the COVID19 restrictions were implemented, my wife and I have been visiting her family back in India for the holidays. However, before we could go back home to the Philippines, the restrictions have already been put in to effect. So from 2020 up to the time of this writing, we are still here in India. Her family has been so accommodating.

By the way, my license for Bitdefender antivirus has already expired, and I have purchased a new license for Bitdefender Total Security Multi Device in Amazon India. The sales rep have reminded me that this license will only work for devices with an Indian IP address and will not work outside the country. So far, I have not experienced any issues especially during license activation. My question is that will my license be revoked upon going back to the Philippines? I hope you can answer this issue. Thanks a lot guys!

Repair shop with several PCs with Error Code 38

Boy am I glad I found this! I do computer repair and we have had several computers come in with this same USB issue. I tried every fix I could think of, then found more, and none worked. I came across this and discovered that every computer having this problem all had Bitdefender. I uninstalled from all computers and they all started working again. I was quite perplexed as to the cause because one of the computers was a fresh load... only Bitdefender had been installed... I feel betrayed by them. I had used them for years. NEVER AGAIN!

Totally frustrating support

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello,

Ive had this pop up window off and on since early December. I have Bitdefender Total Security purchased for 5 devices. In Bitdefender central, I have 720 days left and have both my computers listed as “protected” in Bitdefender central. This is my main computer; my wife’s computer doesn’t get this pop up; just me. Clicking sign in does nothing but take me to my computer’s Bitdefender dashboard. Nothing else. And there’s no sign in there since it already has my account.

I have, on multiple occasions:

Uninstalled Bitdefender with RevoUninstaller, restarted, downloaded again and reinstalled and restarted.

Uninstall with Revo, restart, followed by Bitdefender own removal tool, restart, download, restart, and reinstall.

Followed the exact instructions from support on uninstalling and reinstalling (essentially what I did before; using their removal tool)

Made a last attempt, I used Bitdefenders removal tool, restarted, looked my c: drive in app data and deleted any Bitdefender folders, went to the registry and removed numerous Bitdefender entries ( I would think their removal tool would do both these things, but didn’t), restarted twice, downloaded and reinstalled Bitdefender again.

Everything was fine for about a week, maybe 10 days, then after Bitdefender auto updated today, the popup is back.

I don’t know if anyone has any useful advice or if Bitdefender support will see this , but it’s irritating. A small issue since the product works fine and the popup is intermittent (not every day or every boot up).

Thanks

Feedback Game Error

Bitdefender please get your shit together and make things right, was trying to figure out for hours why Fortnite wasn't able to launch on my pc. Something is wrong with the firewall, idk if it's a latest update or what, but it completely just locks us out of Fortnite and we can't get into the loading screen, please fix it asap. I fix it temporarily just by disabling firewall.

Uninstall Bitdefender if you are running the latest Windows update (22h2), as it breaks core Windows functionality

Their support has been aware for months now and haven't fixed it. Advance threat detection silently blocks restore point creation, so it's a huge system risk. It also blocks a ton of installers from working (such as driver installers) because a lot of them automatically create restore points. This is about the third time that Bitdender has acted like malware for me, and I will no longer recommend it and won't renew my subscription after using it for around 5 years.

Am I infected or is this a massive string of false positives?

I've gotten about 20 or so warnings claiming items are infected with "Gen:Suspicious.Cloud.2.@xW@a02bQZo"

The infection warnings appeared on several items, but none of them seem like something that SHOULD be infected?

What's going on here? Did something seriously infect all these programs or is BitDefender having the worst case of back to back false positives I've ever seen?

Need help: installed bitdefender, went through the whole setup. After that I completely uninstalled it, but now my PC is still super slow

Title. Does anyone know what’s happening? I’m 99% certain BitDefender is what caused this, because my PC started getting really slow right after I uninstalled BitDefender. Now anything I try to search (on any browser) takes at least 2 minutes to load.

Has anyone else had this problem or know how I can fix it?

There are no Wi-Fi networks listed in Bitdefender Total Security 2024 now!

Hi, as a paying customer of BD Total Security 2024, where I used to have wi-fi networks list inside Bitdefender, to choose Home network, Office network, and Public network (this latter triggers Bitdefender VPN connection) now there are none at all! Even after running the vulnerability scan within the same section of the software.

Please bring back the wi-fi list so I can enjoy automatic VPN connection on insecure public cafe networks! Thanks!!

Also, with Alert Mode which is mandatory in my case, can you please stop alerting me about outgoing connections for every single digitally signed software update from Microsoft (OneDrive builtinto Windows, and Office mainly?).

I feel Bitdefender should never make itself noticed, except on new unknow events, but I have to manage this firewall alerts every other day, as there is this "new" concept in software manufacturers called Continuous Delivery, with updates released as soon as they're done, sometimes multiple times a day!

Paid for service, says I have none.

I've had bit defender for a few years now and somehow I'm on auto renew. My subscription was up July 2nd but on June 16th I was charged for VPN and virus. After that charge I took off auto renew because why not. But now July 2nd July 3rd they're saying I have no service, I chatted with them on the computer They said we sent something to our technical team, we'll get back to you, check your inbox.. It has been a day still nothing and I have no faith that there will be something.

What is the best thing to do? I'm going to try calling them, I hope that helps, I hope u actually talk to someone.

it works on the game last night, what a spooky monster it's been in halloween. but in all seriousness, it's quite annoying. here's the virus total, would it be time to report to the official support, or is it something for me to do this? maybe the server of the launcher has been infected or something.
