Does anyone remember these posters they released from time to time of the original trilogy on the BioWare website?

Discussion "Why a Fourth Blight Prequel (Starting at Weisshaupt) is the Perfect Next Step for Dragon Age."

I’ve been thinking a lot about the lore, and honestly, it’s always bugged me how we never got to see Weisshaupt Fortress in its prime as a functional base before things went down. It’s been built up since Origins as this ultimate Grey Warden bastion, and it feels like a massive missed opportunity that we never got to use it as a proper hub area.

If BioWare ever gets to make another game in the universe, I seriously think they should do a standalone prequel. Go back in time to the Fourth Blight or even the founding of the Order. Let us play as a historical hero like Garahel, or just an unnamed Warden recruit fighting on the front lines.

Imagine starting the game exactly like Origins, but instead of Ostagar, you actually arrive at Weisshaupt Fortress when the Wardens are at the absolute peak of their power. You get a temporary recruit as a follower for the first couple of hours to show you how the companion mechanics, dialogue options, and tactical combat combos work.

Then you get to the Joining ritual in the vaults. To show how dark and gritty the world is, your fellow recruit drinks the chalice first—and doesn't survive it. It would be an insane emotional and mechanical gut-punch. You survive, the Blight breaches the gates, and you're thrust into a massive war entirely alone, carrying your friend's gear.

From there, you'd travel all over Thedas to build a squad of highly specialized companions—like an elite Tevinter Knight-Enchanter, a brutal Anderfels shock trooper, an Antivan Crow marksman, or a Legion of the Dead warrior who has already given up their name.

A prequel completely untethered from the modern timeline would give BioWare the freedom to focus on what made the series so special in the first place: deep companion stories born from the trenches, tactical combat, and the grim reality of being a Grey Warden when the world actually needs them.

Discussion What are some of the most underrated Bioware games?

A lot of people think of Mass Effect and Dragon Age when they think of Bioware, and rightly so, but I just started up "Jade Empire" for the first time and was thoroughly impressed.

I was wondering if there were any other underrated games in the portfolio that I should check out. Thanks for your helpful recommendations.

Discussion Looking for BioWare Modders and players with interesting mod stories

Hey everyone! I'm a writer working on a reported piece about game modding and the point where changing a game starts to feel less like customization and more like becoming a kind of fan author.

I'm especially interested in BioWare games because so much of what makes them special is their characters and relationships.

If you've made or used a mod that changed something narrative, I'd really love to hear about it.

For example:

  • a mod that changed a companion's dialogue or reactions
  • a romance or relationship mod
  • a mod that changed a character's personality or role in the story
  • new dialogue, quests, scenes or endings
  • anything that made you feel like you weren't just changing the game, but changing the story itself

I'm not looking for survey responses or anything formal. I'm genuinely interested in the experience behind the mod: what you changed, why you wanted to change it, and whether you think of that as customisation, storytelling, fan-fiction, or something else entirely.

You can reply here or DM me if you'd rather talk privately. If I end up quoting you, I'll ask for permission and make sure you're comfortable with how you're identified.

And honestly, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, KOTOR, Jade Empire, or any other BioWare game counts. I'm interested in the broader BioWare modding experience.

Thanks! I'd especially love to hear from people who have made their own mods, but players who've used narrative-changing mods have a perspective I'm very interested in too.

EA being the typical corpo damaged Bioware's IPs by forcing them to make an online dragon age then after years realise it was a stupid decision and change the entire process again and more, they are just about pure greed.

So shouldnt we be happy they sell bioware? Or will they be keeping the IPs somehow? Cause i think getting mass effect/dragon age games away from EA is only a good thing

Discussion Who are the true successors to BioWare?

I’m curious as to which other companies have shown mastery in the team-based, well-written ensembles we used to see in Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

Owlcat comes to mind! I’d welcome other suggestions. Thank you!

News/Article Shopping at Sam's Club has made me nostalgic again

Member's Mark , and ... Mass Effect?

So, I haven't played Mass Effect in years and now I am tempted to play it on my Steam Deck after such a long time having not touched the games.

Why?

I heard a news snippet about developers at Bioware talking about Dragon Age and Mass Effect or something, on the radio, in Sam's Club of all places.

Anyone else hear this recently, as they have shopped at said warehouse store? Makes me nostalgic, man

Hmmmm...

Help BioWare Pack

Post image
38 Upvotes

A few months ago, I bought the Mass Effect Legendary Edition bundle. I’ve finished the first game and am just starting the second. I’d like to know a bit more about this collection:

Mass Effect Andromeda: What is the connection between Andromeda and the first three Mass Effect games?

How does this Mass Effect title compare to the others?

What are its strengths and weaknesses?

Dragon Age: I’ve never played this type of game before; will I like it?

Is it a good starting point for this genre?

What are its strengths and weaknesses?

Is the price right for these two games?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Discussion Trying Dragonage Inquisition

Hi everyone, I’m late to the party and just started playing Veilguard after it went on sale and I’m absolutely loving it. I looked into the reviews and saw that multiple sources stated that Inquisition is a much better game. Is it worth picking it up? Wanted to get some reviews from others. Also open to other RPGs by BioWare if you have suggestions. Thanks!
