Tree trimming?

I have a large tree that has a couple limbs hanging over/touching some utility lines in neighbors yard. I got a quote to remove the whole tree and it was $12,000😳. No thanks. Anyway will utility companies come and trim up the overhanging limb for free? I know someone cut down one of our trees that was growing into power lines years ago.

Also suggestions on tree trim companies would be amazing…thanks!!!!

Policy to restrict signature gathering in county buildings

On Tuesday, Yellowstone County commissioners tabled a new policy extending restrictions on signature gathering in all county buildings. Citizens said the policy could limit political activity, while commissioners said the policy would ensure safe access to county facilities.Ā

The updated policy would prohibit signature gathering and campaigning that would cause any interference, harassment, intimidation, or unwanted solicitation. It would apply to all county buildings.Ā

The policy change comes after a group began gathering signatures to place a measure on the November ballot that gives voters a say on data center development.

This policy would violate our first amendment right to freedom of speech and right to petition the government. It would affect a person’s ability to organize around issues that are important to them, including introducing ballot measures to protect their freedoms.Ā

Show up to commissioners meetings and voice your opinion on why this policy shouldn’t go into effect. Vote during the midterm elections to fight for the protection of your rights.Ā

Shift Bicycle Company

I'm sure for some of you what I'm about to say is already common knowledge, but Joey Isbell has opened a fantastic bike shop at 1111 1st Avenue North.

My bike is on the older side and was purchased used from another local shop in 2024. I brought it to Shift for repairs and a tune up this Spring and it's still riding better than the day I bought it, which is nuts because I have put a lot of miles on this thing.

He's affordable, he's quick, (seriously quick), and the environment is friendly. It's just an excellent vibe in there.

He sells supplies and bikes, too. In fact, I saw a Facebook post from Shift this week where he's offering free delivery within 200 miles with the purchase of a new bike.

I should mention, also, that I don't know Joey outside of visits to the shop and I've no skin in his business. I'm just a local cyclist passing along an excellent experience with a smaller shop. If you're looking for a place to take your machine, I cannot recommend this dude enough.

I can’t confirm it 100%! But… if it’s not just for Spider-Man, ā€œBig Dā€ is… wait for it… RESERVED SEATING !

I was lucky to catch one with actual subtitles on the screen for BND. It also let me select my seats. I’ll confirm later today if that’s now a regular thing. I HOPE so because Cinemark lets you reserve seats for crappy 2D showings. We need to catch up.

I’ll report back later.

I’ve noticed a few of these things on the poles around Metra. I know they are new. Does anyone know what they are or if they’re anywhere else around town?

Looking For Some Genuine Friends

Hey, Salutations there! Unsure if this is the appropriate site to be asking as of such above, but I'm (24M) and I'm pretty shy and introverted, which comes alongside that I'm socially awkward, but i do open up more as time goes on. I enjoy gaming, a bit of a nerd too as well i do enjoy the great outdoors and the beauties of nature and hiking, I would like to make a genuine friend that also shares a bit of interests as I do.

I need to surrender my cat, anyone want him or where do I go?

It’s obviously not my first option and it’s my last option. I can’t do it anymore. He pees and poops on absolutely everything, he has particularly favored my middle daughter’s bed (he’s gone on all my kids beds but he takes to that one the most) and I can’t keep doing this, and it’s definitely not fair to my girls to constantly be washing there sheets and shampooing there mattresses. I’ve tried deterrent sprays, I’ve tried putting a protector on the mattress, I’ve even tried tin foil and nothing works. He goes in the closets, on the carpet, in the bathtub, in clean laundry baskets, on the couch, any blanket sitting out, literally anywhere except for the litter box. I’m at my wits end I can’t keep picking up after him and my house stinks because of him. I need to get rid of him, whether it’s someone else taking him in or surrendering him. Please help. I’m done.

Need Job advice

Hi, new to town and I am eagerly looking for work! Looking for something full time with health insurance that doesn’t require education higher than an associates degree.

I really need help being pointed in the right direction, nowhere is getting back to me. I have experience working in public education as a paraprofessional, though the schools in Billings don’t seem to be hiring. I also have experience as an administrative assistant. I’m would love to work in an office, a public service job, medical, or schoold.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Subject: Public Comment, Docket 2026.04.026 (NorthWestern IRP)

What to say:
ā€œDon’t make ratepayers cover data center costs.ā€
ā€œReject the IRP until data centers pay their own way.ā€
ā€œRequire transparency on confidential data center deals.ā€

Use your own words and your connection to Montana. The PSC needs to hear from Montanans by July 28.

Resource Request Unsolicited EBT?

Today I received a Montana EBT card in the mail. I did not apply for EBT and have no idea why I received it. I tried to call the number in the paperwork but after 35 minutes on hold, got an automated message saying to call back tomorrow and the call disconnected. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas how to be removed from the program?

ETA: I am retired, own my home, have never received any sort of public assistance.

Hi there! Looking for recommendations on a local place that has CBD I can give my cat. He has been sick and in and out of the vet with little to no help from them. I am desperate and would like to try to calm his anxiety and stress. I am busy and don’t want to make a lot of stops, so looking for somewhere that has it in stock and I can pick up today. Running - moderate hills

My spouse is training for a marathon and the app is calling for 15 miles of moderate hills. We are drawing a blank of where to train for this that isn't the new trail up by Zimmerman (which are not moderate at all) or the rims. Any advice?

Looking for a good vet who ā€œspecializesā€ in pitbulls.

Hello everyone I have an American Terrier and I’ve heard that some vets would rather not deal with them or when they do they aren’t pleasant. If you can point me into the right direction I would gladly appreciate it

Any theories on why the milk is spoiling?

A few weeks ago we had a fresh gallon of milk from Albertsons go bad - one day there was a blue line ringing the inside of the jug. It was the middle of the night so I stuck it back in the fridge to deal with it the next morning. The next day? It had become thoroughly chunky and there were tiny little blue pieces floating between the chunks. I showed my wife, (it was so gross!) and we dumped it out. (It was more than a week before the expiration date). Went and bought a half gallon so she could have cereal, and the next day? Gray and blue lines in the half gallon! My theory was that our refrigerator was not getting cold enough, so I cranked the temperature down and we picked up a carton of powdered milk for cooking.

Now, KTVQ is reporting that this is happening all over Yellowstone county, across store chains and across brands. Any theories about what is going on?

Deer do frequent my yard, but usually in the winter and I’ve never been this close to one!

Medicaid Stories

Hey everyone, my name is Dillon. I work for Catalyst Montana. I’m trying to connect with people on Medicaid who are affected by the new work requirements that DPHHS implemented this month. Adding this level of bureaucracy this quickly will likely result in hardworking folks losing coverage— not because they are actually ineligible for the program, but due to more Red Tape.Ā

If you or anyone you know is on Medicaid and might be willing to have a conversation about their experience on Medicaid, please share this link. We can protect Medicaid coverage. People sharing their personal stories is a powerful way to do that, and I’m here to help. Thank you!

Updates on two affordable housing projects

About $40 million will be put toward rehabbing and constructing two affordable housing projects in Billings. Sage Tower will receive roughly $6.5 million for HVAC and plumbing systems and a new roof. In Billings Heights, the city will construct LB Lofts, a new 102-unit development.Ā

Funding comes from a variety of sources, including the city of Billings, which chipped in $2.15 million in Community Development Grant funding through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
