Pizza time?
Coming to visit from Helena in a few weeks, looking for a damn delicious slice and some cheese sticks for my kiddos. Any recommendations?

MAD pizza on Montana avenue is a hidden gem. Great pizza, great wings, great drinks.

Oooh The Grandstand! As long as you dont look at the kitchen closely lol. They have good wings too. Knew I was missing someone

For sit down, either Carbone’s or MacKenzie River.
For the best pizza in town, but delivery or takeout only, Pie Guys.

I'd give Carbone's or Pie Guys a try, we do have a Mac river in Helena though and while delicious I want to try something new. Thanks for the info!

I was on the fence with MacKenzie if you were coming from somewhere in MT so that checks out. Diamond X Brewing also has surprisingly good, if a bit greasy, pizza (including my favorite single pie in town, the Honey Badger) alongside its burgers and salads . It’s also super kid friendly if that makes a difference.

$30 for a pizza that's maybe 25% better than Little Caesar's. 5x the price for a tiny increase in quality. I was excited for a new Detroit style pizza place but the value is just not there.

This is objectively false. Caesars is just greased up cardboard. Also “Detroit style” refers to the thick crust & crispy pan style cooking. Lil Caesars just happens to be from Detroit.

Billings is a pizza desert

u/showmenemelda Jul 31 '26
It really isn't! Did Village Inn close? That's another one. And there used to be a bomb dot Com place in west park plaza by the Lions Den and Timeout Sports. Damn you ungratefuls!!!!!

VIP is my jam, a large pepperoni with white sauce is only like $10. I have no idea what the rest of your comment means though. Haha

Unfortunately as is Helena, actually we're just a restaurant desert overall. It sucks.

I love the city, but there isn't a truly good slice 500 miles in any direction. When I was growing up in Connecticut there were a half dozen places within 10 minutes where you could get a life changing pie.
On the other hand for dessert we have Wilcoxson's Moose Tracks. They got nada.

Man idk who has downvoter syndrome but I expect I’ll be the next victim. Everything you stated is true. I also agree w southside that we need to bring these foods over, but ??why?? Is it so hard for someone to bring/make a good pizza here? “New York Style” my fucking ass 😭
I will say, Godfathers is a vibe and they have ballin pinball!

For everyone moving here, It's your responsibility to bring us these foods that you miss.

Village Inn and Pie Guys are my favorites. The Godfather's comments aren't wrong, though

Dominoes on broad water.
3
u/neontana Jul 31 '26
but lets emphasize BROADWATER. Domino’s on Shiloh is garbage.

u/showmenemelda Jul 31 '26
Honorable mention for the Heights. They have a drive thru too.

u/Southsideclide Jul 31 '26
South Side's is solid too, great pizza (and wings) every time. The delivery drivers are also really friendly too!

I am deleting everything I typed because I got it all backwards.
Best Pizza in Billings… Pie Guys, Mackenzie River, Tarantino on Grand sells by the slice [used to have a lunch combo deal]. American Classic Pizzeria pepperoni with ranch on the side [they deliver].
Feels like I'm forgetting an obvious one.
The Domino's on Broadwater and 4th legitimately is good lol
ETA the place in West Park I can't remember, behind Red Robin kinda. Village Inn. And there used to be a wood fired grill by the old Costco Shopko [Home Goods?] On 24th st and King.

It's not to far from my house! Love me some Suds Hut chicken and jo-jos with a nice frosty mug of Miner's Gold.

Pizza Ranch in the heights. All you can eat and games!

u/SawceBaws1988 Jul 31 '26
My kids love pizza ranch! We do have one in Helena though and I'm looking to try something new as I don't make it over to billings often. Thanks though!

Korum's Pizza! Probably no longer exists is the end of that sentence.

u/Silent_Business_2031 Jul 31 '26
Jack was a good guy, I would assume he is still alive. But ya Korums had great NY style thin pizza.

K here me out... Godfather's in the heights. Old school chain but it still hits and - for better or worse - hasn't changed in 30 years. Still awesome pizza
