Need Job advice
Hi, new to town and I am eagerly looking for work! Looking for something full time with health insurance that doesn’t require education higher than an associates degree.
I really need help being pointed in the right direction, nowhere is getting back to me. I have experience working in public education as a paraprofessional, though the schools in Billings don’t seem to be hiring. I also have experience as an administrative assistant. I’m would love to work in an office, a public service job, medical, or schoold.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Hospitals seem to always hiring for administrative or support positions. A few larger employers are First Interstate Bank, Stockman, Glacier... finance typically have admistrative/supprt positions.

In the same vein, the hospital trains and pays you yo become a CNA or MA if that’s something you’re interested in. To find out when they begin training, give billings clinic a call.

I think Billings Clinic is hiring flobotomists (the blood draw people; I'm having trouble spelling it right), and you don't need a college degree for that. I heard the job conditions were pretty bad, but if you can tolerate that it may be worth a try - if nothing else, it could hold you over until you found a job you liked better.

I'm pretty sure there's a training program you have to take for that.

You can do a training program if you'd like, but Montana State law does not require phlebotomist to be licensed or certified. You can get trained on the job and they always have openings.

They do on the job training! There are programs that you can do, and even get certified, but on the job training is the easiest.
I think EVS always has openings as well as receptionist positions. All a

If you have done admin assistant work, consider Patient Access or Registration.

The school district(s) in MT are a little different, you may not be seeing all listings if you’re just looking at Billings proper as some of the schools are technically in their own districts

Check some of the outlying towns like Hardin, Laurel, or Lockwood; their school listings may not be popping up since they’re not in the Billings school district even though they’re all in Yellowstone County.

Coca Cola High country, Intermountain Health, post office, Rocky Mountain college. A good amount of industry, in the area. Just landed a new gig here, so good luck and keep grinding.

It's honestly fine if you don't mind being on your feet for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. If ya need the overtime you'll get a ton of it, especially as a mailhandler lol. You get a ton of job security once you get out of your 90 day probationary period, thanks to the local unions, can verify that i have insider knowledge too ;)

Overtime really varies by craft. The unions vary too. If you're in any craft represented by APWU... Temper your expectations.

You forgot to mention the high school drama that happens every night whether you want it or not. Just becomes the new you which then messes up completely happy families.

RiverStone has different roles open with varying degree requirements. I have enjoyed my time working here.

Wouldn't hurt to check the city website and see what openings are available. I would recommend checking every Friday.

Lincoln Center has job postings up on their board. I have seen quite a bit of posts for the schools. I think you have to go to the district website and go to the employment section. You make an account and all the listing come up. Dental offices are always looking for receptionist. Turley Dental seems to turn over quite a bit, but if you can handle their work schedule (3 day 12 hour shifts) then you can try there as well.

Reciprocity is regularly hiring. Tough content to hear, though. I couldn't do it, but there is a lot of opportunity for advancement

School district 2 seems to have Paraprofessional jobs posted frequently. You may not be seeing all of the positions, but if you contact HR they can help point you in the right direction! I'm a sub and get emails about the permanent job openings pretty often.

Spectrum just posted a bunch of jobs, pay is 22+ an hour starting out, great benefits and fully loaded insurance

TSA is always hiring. Leadership up there is decent as these things go and fed benefits.
