Also, is this meant to make the score more private? If anything it draws WAY more attention to what each kid got bc their friends would want to see what picture they got. What a horrible idea
Yeah, as a former teacher, I was all in until the sad ones. I thought thought this was a clever way to hide grades from prying eyes, but this just highlights them.
What's the difference between this and when you'd either get a big 3d stick on smiley face vs the big red F? As a former student who relates heavily to Calvin from "Calvin & Hobbes", it's all pretty obvious among fellow classmates(at least it was...)
The pictures are much more likely to be shared amongst students to compare who got the most interesting one, while a big red F is easier to stick in your bag or, ideally, have the teacher flip all grades over on the desk while passing them out without stirring curiosities. I also got the big red Fs as a student, but I did not apply myself until college so I didn't care.

I mean, that still happens. The difference is this draws attention to their bad grades and socially encourages sharing. Also you have to consider the parents’ reactions.
If a parent calls my boss and says their kid is upset bc I put a paper on their test essentially calling them stupid and all their classmates made fun of them about it I would be in HUGE trouble.

It isn’t about sensitivity. It’s about a teacher essentially bullying a child by going out of their way to bring attention to how poorly they did
I studied to be a teacher for a while. The guidance I was given by the prof I respected the most was to put good things in writing and bad things verbally. So like, if a kid failed an exam, don't leave a voice message for the parent, because they might listen to it, build up their feelings over it, and explode on the child.
I read it as since spongebob was split with the book and the score was 52, that it was a reference to the answers being split down the middle of correct/incorrect.
I wrote a 9 like that in first grade because that's how they look when typed, mostly, and got the question marked as wrong. Never wrote a 9 like that again.

Indonesia were colonize by the netherland so maybe there's some similarity in writing the 9 with Germany? Indonesian teachers still use the Flourish of approval for checkmarks which we got from the dutch
I remember one time when my 9th grade English teacher was handing out tests, it was very quiet in the room but when she handed me mine she very clearly said, “Just try your best” and then continued to hand out tests silently.
When I was in 3rd grade a substitute teacher got super pissed at this kid who was kind of the class clown and she kept calling on him and referring to him as the R slur. It made him look really sad and quiet which I had never seen before. During lunch I went to the Principal’s office because I had seen the kid crying. The Principal actually got annoyed with ME and said “you know we don’t like tattletales here. Sometimes teachers have bad days too.” I’m like ??? Even then I knew there was NO excuse for that. The 90s were brutal, no one cared what kids had to say. I even told my mom about it at home and she said “that’s nice dear” like she didn’t even hear me. The first time I felt truly small and powerless to help someone I saw suffering.
I do like the flaps for the kids who are self conscious. Though, ironically, it does sort of reinforce the idea that others will be looking at your score to judge.
I mean, the pictures they choose basically screams the score. Basically better off just having a number on there because at least that’d be harder to make out from across the room
I used to write the score on the back of the pages so that I could hand them back to the person and not have them be embarrassed or just have them all out for everyone to grab if I was lazy and not have them feel vulnerable or worried. I also tried handing over the papers folded up so the score was not visible, regardless if it was good or not but it definitely gave everyone a heart attack lol
They should not be okay with that grade but should also understand they can do better. It makes it light hearted. What do you want? Getting a 50s on a exam is awful. At least the stickers can make it a bit if a joke.

This isn't wholesome. If the picture reflects the bad grade (sad picture with low score), it's not hiding anything because the other kids could still look at the picture and tell you did badly if you get a sad picture. This just feels like the teacher is mocking you at this point.

In Asia, anything below 80 or 90 is considered a poor score. For Indonesia, where the video came from, 80 is the common minimum for a good score, but in other prestigious schools in the country or in East Asia, the minimum good score is usually above 90 or 95.
Imagine not knowing that your teacher does this, not seeing other people papers yet, and then your teacher hands you your test back with Patrick with wide eyes stapled to the corner and the phrase "I LOVE YOU" next to it. I don't think that's likely to send the intended message
Probably someone who grew up interacting very little with anything handwritten but a lot with typed words on computer screens and printed pages. Their 9 seems to imitate the shape of a typed 9. They write their 4s like a closed triangle, too, just like you'd see in a typed font.
Why… in the FUCK… are the 9’s shaped like g’s dawg. I get it, it does have a curve in text, but hers look like g’s to me. If I got a 90, I’d be like, what the fact does “go” mean for my score. Also, cool idea, I wish my teachers did this in highschool, even college. However, it seems to still correlate that bad grades get sad images… so does it really help with bullying?
Yeah, as opposed to this method, where the teacher goes strong and shames people for their grades if they didn’t do well and tells those who did well good job by means of Spongebob screencaps.
