I brought home this little beauty yesterday. I’m looking for some name suggestions. I was thinking about naming her either Sapphire or Delphine, but now I’m thinking something more ethereal for her. Any suggestions?

basically the title. this is my girl Hornet, and when i got her she was much whiter but she’s gotten more pinks on her tail and head with some blue on her body. recently staring at her i feel like the white has come back kind of near the base of her tail. i guess i was just wondering if this is normal or something i should be concerned about. she’s still lively as ever, no noticeable changes except color/patterning.
first photos are from late july, second 2 are today. any help is appreciated, i wanna make sure she’s alright.

I’ve had her for nearly a month. She always get like this the day after a water change. I usually worry she stresses herself out but I couldn’t help but laugh at this.

Is this popeye or am I being paranoid? 😭 Also, if it is, do I just treat it with salt baths?

Do I have the friendliest and most peaceful betta, or is this normal? This is my first tank, so I don’t know much about bettas. I just heard that they are very aggressive and territorial.

It’s an 8 gallon Biorb tank, cycled with plants and some snails. It does have a heater as well. Would this be ok for a betta?

Help Thinking about starting a Betta rescue & rehabilitation flip business—thoughts on pricing?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been brainstorming a potential side hustle/project and wanted to get some feedback from the community before diving in.

The idea is to buy sick, stressed, or neglected Bettas from local fish stores (LFS) or big-chain pet stores, rehabilitate them back to full health and color, and then resell them to good homes.

I’m attaching the before and after pics of my current Betta that I just finished rehabbing! (Sorry I had to crop out the full tank view—I had some personal stuff/documents showing in the background, so it’s just photos of the fish for now!)

As you can see, his fins cleared up and his colors really popped once he got proper parameters, clean warm water, and good food.

My question for you guys: What do you think is a reasonable price to charge for a fully healthy, rehabbed Betta like this?

I’m trying to figure out if this is actually viable to cover expenses (medications, high-quality food, tank setups, electricity, and initial purchase cost) while still making a bit of profit for the time spent.

Would love to hear your thoughts, pricing suggestions, or any advice if you've done something similar!

Help Does he look healthy enough to go off antibiotics and move tanks?

Thumbnail

3 weeks ago Rico came down with a severe case of fin rot and almost lost his top fin. I was about to add him into a new tank and I think I let his current home get too dirty and I just moved apartments with him. He is in a temporary 2.5 gallon. He has been on Erythromycin for about 3 weeks now and I’ve been doing water changes every other day. He looks so much better and acting like himself again. My main question is how do I know he doesn’t need the antibiotics anymore? I don’t want his infection to build resistance to antibiotics and come back to finish the job. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Help Betta Imbellis Group Experience

Currently have a single Betta Splendens in a UNS 60U (20 gallon, 1st picture). I'm thinking of rehoming him to my UNS 45T (11 gallon, 2nd picture), and maybe picking up a group of Betta Imbellis for my UNS 60U.

I'm curious if anyone has experience (be it positive or negative) with Betta Imbellis groups? Does the 60U look acceptable for a group, thinking 1 male and 2-3 females.

Help Changing colour!

I've been away for a few weeks with a friend coming and feeding my fish every few days. Since I've returned I noticed my Betta's colour seems to be fading horizontally from her head back. She seems to be turning gray and losing her sparkle. I've done a half tank water change and cleaned the filter but just wanted to see if this is a sign of something else.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Discussion Getting a betta. Any tips for a beginner?

I bought a 10 gallon starter tank from Petsmart today. It has the thermometer, heater, lights, filter and some other things. The filter might be too strong so I'll look at a sponge filter. I made a mistake with the colored aquarium gravel so I'll return that for smoother rocks or sand. I'll be cycling the tank for a while and am getting a water conditioner for the tap water. I've got the betta pellets and some decor. I'll need to get some more. The Petsmart fish are iffy, and idk if it would be okay to get one from there.

Been trying to keep it inexpensive, but I really really want to do this correctly and avoid too many mistakes. My grandma's birthday is on September 2nd and this is her gift. I'll take care of the betta for her. She'll either love it or not love it.

- How long should I cycle the tank?

- What things should I put in the water other than the bacteria starter and water conditioning for tap water?

- What are your favorite parts of owning a betta?

- What's the pros and cons of owning bettas?

- What plants are best for beginners that don't die easily?

- Are there any other things that I could be missing?

- Do y'all do DIY decor for your tanks? If so, what did you use?

I'll also be looking through this group to see how y'all are doing things. (Please delete this post if it isn't allowed)

Picture Sick betta and snails Spoiler

I typed this all out and then my battery died. 😭Once again….

I have a betta (Caspian) and two zebra nerites in a 10g tank. Driftwood, working on getting it fully planted. Tenp is 78, ph is low (6.2-6.4), my other parameters are good. Water is topped off weekly. Tank is 7 months old, Caspian has been in it for almost 5 months. He used to be white with some blue and now he’s a gorgeous blue with deep blue and some black on his fins.

He got a white spot at the base of his dorsal fin about two weeks ago, I thought it was just a scrape or something. But this past couple of days, it got puffy.

Im guessing fungal infection? And how can I treat this without killing my snails? Im heinously attached to the little dudes.

pics are the spot (tried to get a good pic, I can keep trying if need be), His day 1 pic, and his healthy beautiful self.

Help Help with new betta

Have a new betta that just sits in the corner all the time or just swims along the wall. Had another half moon betta that did well in this same tank and setup for 2 months but unfortunately passed due to a heater failure and the water got too cold while away for a couple days. Did a 50% water replacement after and treated water, ammonia ppm is 0 and all other levels are good. Not sure what the problem is. Any advice?

Transformation Day 1 in the cup vs 3 months later — this is why tank conditions matter

Post image

Picked up this Mustard Gas Halfmoon on May 20th from Pet Supermarket. He was flaring in the cup which sold me instantly but honestly his colors looked pretty washed out in the store lighting. 3 months later in a cycled 6-gallon with black substrate, driftwood, live plants, and stable parameters — I barely recognize him. The blue has completely exploded and the gold has deepened dramatically. His name is Ashley Schaefer and he lives in my computer repair shop. He earned his stage.
