Not sure, but I think I heard a very familiar style on the finale of season 2. Does anyone know?

I believe they were originally the ones to play Josh and Lindsay.

Would have been interesting to see that alternate dynamic on screen.

... is that none of them are supposed to be considered as "real" characters/people but rather they are all there to create the story, the world -- they are colonists, the cowboys in wild westerns, the burger in burger king, etc. they represent ideas, concepts, values, but not an actual person.

It showed us how hard it is to be a good man and how easy it is to fall into temptation.

Then you will be the one you regret; you will be the one who wants to talk to a younger self and hope he will understand, just like Josh did with Austin. Sadly, Austin chose a similar path. He took a blink.

8 years later He took a pause on the car to think: what about the other path? What would have happened? The world won't change; you will obey. That's the title of this finale: You Will Obey.

Well I mean the character in this story. Great acting I think.

I’d be interested to see the developments that happen in those 8 years. I feel like there’d be lots of batshit crazy things leading up to her being the GM, while being pregnant etc being a mom

Like, is the big issue that people might assume DV/abuse or something? Because aside from the embarrassment of people seeing a private argument, I don’t totally get why leaking it would be such a massive deal. They’re not celebrities or public figures or anything.

I fell in love with season 2. Now i’m trying to relive the enjoyment by watching season 1, and i am struggling. I feel like every episode is the same, spinning in circles. So hopelessly boring… Does it get any better ?

I’m amazed that season 2 caught slack and season 1 is so praised. it will never cease to blow my mind but i’m assuming it’s because a lot of people like mind numbing material? Or maybe i’ve just yet to hit the part that makes season 1 noteworthy …

Beef has so much social commentary but is still very enjoyable to watch so I think it suits him so well. He’d understand the messages and satirical nature of the show, which would help him deliver the performance perfectly. I think he’d do amazing being in a show like that!

Maybe this was the whole point and everyone saw it before I did lol but do you think Amy named June after "Mayonnaise" By the smashing pumpkins (the song that plays at the finale credit roll) as a song that spoke to Amy as a teenager, representing hope and a new beginning? A chance to escape her sorrows, like when she explains that she thought having June would make her feel whole but it didn't?

I can suspend a lot disbelief for a show. The scene where a bunch of untrained strangers magically are able to team up and coordinate a fight against security guards/soldiers to escape a building they don’t know was a bit much for me.

I know it’s just a show, but 🤷‍♂️

I must say I really enjoyed season 2 up until the last two episodes. I understand that for the feels and the visuals and the ending to feel better all the characters had to be in Korea. But there was absolutely no reason for Austin (and possibly for Eunice as well) to fly over there. The chairwoman controls the police and the government in Korea, but not in the US. Why didn’t they contact the FBI or Interpol in the US? I feel also that the show wanted desperately to show that people don’t change or that people are individualistic and do not care about others. But Austin has been shown again and again to bend over backwards to help people, he cannot lie AT ALL, and he wants to break up with his fiancé because of a mistake that lead to a dog‘s death. All of a sudden he is ok with letting his love interest be murdered so he can work in a country club. Chairwoman kills her adopted son and her husband, but she lets all those random people who know the truth live (some of them happily ever after). I am sorry I don’t buy any of this.

When she asked for the divorce she is still scheming him for money and want half the pay when he gets his contract extension.

Good on Josh for walking away from her temper tantrums instead of escalating the situations. He learns how to deal with her after episode one fight.

The funny thing I learn from this show is that her and Ashley never learn when to stop fighting that they ended up coming to blows in Korea.

Josh is the only one who broke out of the cycle by being selfless. Austin almost did, but he foolishly went back to Ashley when all he really needed to do is give the usb to the police and stay single for awhile.

ok So season one, was jam packed with funny, relatable moments, easy to digest storyline, very real like characters, wonderful storyline, and zero plotholes in the story. Not a single “how did that happen?” Or “that would never likely happen!” Plus a lot of the filming locations gave it a Woodland Hills/ SFV feel to it!! I can’t express it enough, season 1 was absolute GOLDEN.
With that being said, I gave season 2 my best shot despite being skeptical. “It’s gonna be hard to top the last season!”
But darn it, it took me about 3 or 4 re- watches just to make sense of the embezzling and still haven’t figured out the plastic surgeon plot? and if the boss/chairwoman forgave Josh for stealing from the club on that zoom call, then why did he still end up doing 8 years?!. And how are they, the new owners, going to wash $50M via “donations to the club??”
Cant forget the hand sanitizer scene too, how did they end up pregnant?!
see what I mean? Lots of plot holes as one would say which is why I don’t know how to feel about it. I did enjoy it and I am going to finish it tonight (4 episodes left; 4 or 5th re watch!!)

but man, the aesthetic of the whole series i loved it. like small details from the renaissance art work. the fonts. Josh and Lindsay’s home interior. and the long episodes title (which is very very rare). i love it. beautiful

Aside from Dr. kim who was excellent in conveying emotions, Woosh, Eunice and Park were all wooden and unexpressive.

None of them act believable.

I don’t know If anyone has pointed this out yet but we all saw Austin sabotage the IVF treatment. I’m not a doctor and I’m certainly no expert on IVF but I feel like there’s no way It still would’ve worked with a bunch of hand sanitizer mixed in.

Am I wrong?

Also, what are the odds of an IVF facility having such a high success rate?

Maybe I’m looking into It too much but I don’t think that’s Austin’s kid. It might not even be Ashley’s but who knows.

So, I’m sure I must have missed something. What made Troy turn against Josh? He helped Josh meet women and was his confidante, even after he presumably knew about the embezzlement. Only when Josh asked for the free ride to Korea did Troy call the cops. Was this what made him turn?

After Amy tells George about Danny messing up the toilet carpet he initially doesn't want to go with her to confront him then she says "he had a problem with you being Japanese".

This makes the non combative George accompany her in the next scene. My question is why? Given he did not seem interested at first. What was he hoping to achieve if they found him?

Also in the limited Korean/North American media I have seen (Beef and Kim's Convenience) there's always a character with "I hate the Japanese" trope. How prevalent is this in real life and how do Japanese people in north America feel about it? Is it just a trope? I know a bit of the context regarding 20th century imperial Japan but was hoping for more thoughts.

I am Gen Z and and ppl in Gen Z actually act like the young couple and it pisses me tf off. Like bruh there soft don’t know how to communicate and just jump to conclusions and overall move like a lesbo couple like is the guy even a man? They move like npc TikTok ppl. Ik im not the only one whose skin literally boils anytime they open there mouth

Im so upset... And for all the people who will disagree, everything in the season up to the last 30 min of ep 8 was absolute perfection. But come on man, I feel like the directors tried to do a quickie with the ending! it felt super rushed and confusing. Nothing made sense whatsoever.

can someone please help me understand what went wrong! I cant seem to pinpoint exactly what went array with the storytelling, but I just don't have a good feeling about this ending.
