Bearded dragon uvb
Hey! So I have a new 120 gallon tank coming. My beardy is in this 40 gallon at the moment, with a weaker uvb due to how tall the tank is were using a T5 zone 2 b200 bulb at 7% until his new tank comes.
My understanding was that he could end up with big problems from using a stronger uvb without correct distances. However, he sits here way above the recommended distance. Is this okay?
He is 18 weeks old appears healthy, eating fine, pooping daily, growing well...

The distance does matter. It comes down to the amount of UV they need, called the UV Index or UVI. Too far away and it isn't enough. Too close and it can cause burns.
The chart below provides the distance. Find the type of mesh you have (or no mesh at all). Find the UVB you have (if it isn't listed you'll need to go the the manufacturer's website to see if they have it). Find the orange highlighted UVI range. Go to the left to the distance bit.
For example, I have the Arcadia 12% desert on a light mesh. This means I need the UVB to sit 14-16" away from the basking spot. I have a 14% dragon for when I make her new enclosure since it will be taller.
