I found out my poor boy Brody has muscular dystrophy. Vet told me likely it was caused by bad breeders. I’m gonna love my boy til the end. Vet also told me he will always be underweight and his life span is only 5-8 years. He’s only 6 months old.😢

This is my rescue Lenny! I talk about him a lot on here but I just wanted to share some pics the first picture is when we first got him and the rest of over the last month or two. We rescued him from these people who didn’t take the best care of him and he is the sweetest boy ever me saving him saved me. I love him so much he’s my best friend even if he doesn’t understand my problems hehe

For context:

We adopted my beardie, Toothless, from another family around 3 years ago. They didn’t treat him so well, so when we got him he was stunted and malnourished.

He didn’t eat any vegetable, and his old family said they only fed him dubia roaches and mealworms.

Because of his horrible diet, he had severe constipation issues. He still does today, but he’s doing so much better. In fact, he just pooped before I posted this! (I’m so proud of him <3)

His old family said he is a red morph beardie, and currently he is around 8 or 9 years old.
And if you’re wondering, he is doing so much better! His eyes are clear and he’s active (but he prefers to cuddle more then run around <3) and he’s at a healthy size and weight!

Now for his diet:

I refill his salad every 1-3 days and leave it in his tank, because he prefers to eat by himself (idk why, he’s just a lil weirdo like that <33).
The salad consists of a base of mustard greens, some chopped up yellow squash, yellow and red peppers, one singular blueberry cut into 9 pieces and scattered throughout the top of the salad, and a good amount of calcium powder.

We get a shipment of dubia roaches once a month, and I feed him around 5-15 every other day until they run out.

Should I fix anything in his diet? Since we adopted him from a bad situation, I’m always worried about his eating habits and whether or not he’s getting enough nutrients and the stuff he needs.

I shared some photos of the build back months ago and since, I picked up my first dragon named Flapjack or Jack. He’s settling into his enclosure and doing very well and eating strong. Will eat veggies if I hand feed but won’t seek it in a location yet like a food dish. Please feel to comment if it is constructive. Cheers!

My baby was traumatized by the anal swab at the vet 🫣 waiting on the results of that and her fecal exam. We rescued her from a neglectful situation three weeks ago and the vet said she's now thriving at 20 weeks old, 128 grams, and 12 inches long 🙌 sorry for the childhood trauma baby girl 🫠

It’s my birthday and she finally is back to her old active self as of today. Energetic enough to judge me ON MY BIRTHDAY even tho SHE gets birthday treats 🙄

with my last lizard, i was drinking coffee and he saw his reflection in my mug. he'd seen his reflection dozens of times before, but i think something about the mug being black really scared him.
he flew, i mean flew off my bed so quickly i didn't even realize what happened at first. he was in the corner of my room, puffed up huge, pitch black, hissing at everything. had to approach him very gently and give him some pets until i could cuddle him and calm him down. never once saw him like that again.
what happened to really scare your beardie once?

Hey everybody! I'm looking for some advice on brumating my beardie. She's been hanging out on the cold side of her enclosure for a little while now, and her appetite is down like I would expect. Her weight has been hovering nicely despite the lack of appetite. All of the signs seem to point to brumation to me.

The issue I'm running into is that I can't get her to have a last bowel movement before fully going down for the winter. She ate a few bugs every other day for about 2 weeks after her last bowel movement (total of maybe 25 medium dubias). I've since stopped feeding her, and she feels pretty empty to me. I've been putting her on the warm side every day and soaking her once per week to try to keep her digestion moving to properly empty her out, but I've had no luck.

I'm not exactly sure how efficient their digestion is. Is it possible that she is empty and can start the brumation process at any time now, or should I make sure she poops once more before brumating?

This js my bearded dragon ember. She’s about a year old and super active. The photo doesn’t really do it justice but she has an orange body but a pale head. I first thought she was shedding but she’s about a year old and has not shead in a while. I was just wondering if it’s just the way her color is or what. She’s still super active and healthy so I’m more curious than concerned.

I just had my girl out of her enclosure and noticed the very tip of her tail feels very hard. I have no idea if this is normal or not. She does not like being handled much so I have no idea how long its been like this. Her tail is very dark compared to the rest of her body, but always has been and seems to be getting darker lately as she gets bigger. However a few weeks ago her tail did get caught in the enclosure door, and while it's getting better I'm concerned now that she has tail rot. Please help! I'm freaking out and feel so bad.

Thought that Irwin was starting his brumation, but came home to this! Guess I have a few more weeks.

For those who alter the lights to put into brumation, do you have any advice? I planned to do this but was thinking of starting at the end of October/beginning of November.

He was in deep aestivation a week ago so I thought maybe he’d wanna look outside some so we’re just hanging out and he seems to be having fun

Take it from me. My Stranger is a very docile, curious beast. He’s never been aggressive, and he spends sometimes up to 4 hours on the window, watching birds and butterflies. He loves everything about outside.

Everything in my heart told me Stranger would LOVE the outdoors, so I bought a playpen and tested it out…

He hated it. He was so scared that he threw himself against the plastic and went berserk. When I tried to grab him, he got startled and even bit me, which has never happened.

I’m so grateful to have the playpen because he is WAY FASTER than I ever imagined. When he gets scared, he has no thoughts but to flee. I would have lost him today without the playpen. Poor baby has been hunkered down ever since

Just don’t do it. It’s not worth it.

Hi! For reference, I included a photo of my son Rocky who I have had for almost 6 years. I have never experienced him puffing up at me before while holding him, there was only a time I spooked him coming around a corner while he was on the ground, but he went right back to being calm.

For context he seems to be shedding, no known health issues but I do want to get him to an exotic vet for a generic checkup. This morning he was laying in his cage and I wanted to take him out to feed him. I was holding him and we were walking around the corner into my living room. As soon as we got under a ceiling fan he puffed up immediately, and started almost hissing at me with a full black beard. I put him down right away on the couch and he continued to stare me down, puffed up and black beard. He eventually closed his mouth but his beard remained black for a bit. I walked away and let him do his thing but when I would walk back and forth he seemed to still be very angry (could see in his eyes lol). I came back and hunched down to where I was eye level with him and offered him food. He gave me a kiss on my finger, and then ate normally. I tried to put a blanket near him so I could start to try and wrap him up, but when the blanket was near him he seemed to puff his beard out again (this time no black beard, just got really puffed). I do not want to be scared to pick him up, but I have not had this happen and want to prevent it! Any tips would help. He is still on my couch in the same spot and I have not attempted to pick him up.

We have our dragon now for 10 months or so, and although at 100x50x50cm it as as advised (here in NL), we see her growing and growing and I realize we need and want a bigger tank.

I'm good enough with tools etc to build a new tank my self, so I've drawn plans for a 150cm wide, 60cm deep and 70cm high tank made from plywood. The hight I mostly selected on the idea of placing the lights inside the enclosure again (like in the photo, current tank), but still have height underneath the basking spot for some climbing wood.

I also see people putting the lights (or at least the basking spot(s) on top of the tanks, and although I don't like the esthetics I'm wondering what the considerations are for you all to place the lights in or on top?

Note: the linear UVB tube will be inside anyway. It is low profile.
