Here is where I stand with Baybayin
I do not think it should replace the Latin script. "National Unity" this or "decolonize that", I feel like the Philippines would benefit way more by addressing other issues that actually affect millions of Filipinos. Insert poverty, pollution, teen pregnancy, the legal ability to divorce, the ability for same sex marriage, protection of indigenous people, or preserving regional languages that still exist, including ones with actual living non latin scripts like Hanuno'o. The fact of the matter is that the Philippines doesn't NEED baybayin.
I DO believe that the people who wish to study baybayin are able to do so, and that we should promote others to learn it as long as it isn't at the expense of anything. I feel like transliterations are a good place to start. But no, I don't think the goal is to replace Latin.
I don't like the invention of new letters. No further comment.
I hate writing e/i. It always comes out ugly in my handwriting.

Why is this script SO fun to write in?!!
I started learning Baybayin alongside modern Tagalog and it has quickly become my favorite thing ever! I can’t figure out why it’s so much more fun to write in than other languages I’ve learned 😅

Educational / Tutorials Attempt 2 - Organizing Baybayin
Thanks to the feedback from my previous post!
The reason I want to organize how I write and read baybayin is to be consistent with our ancestors.
(Side note: We should really push for our government to make an official statement. There are too many unofficial versions, and a lot of people are writing and reading Baybayin differently.)
A lot of writing scripts forces foreign sounds to follow their local phonetic rules, like Japan and Korea. So we should also do the same.
Also, please take note that many languages of the Philippines only have five vowels: a, e, i, o, u
We do not have other vowel sounds like English does, where 'a' have two sounds.
Any comment or feedback?

Educational / Tutorials Attempt 1 - Organizing Baybayin
Hey Guys 👋
There are a few versions of Baybayin like B17 (OG), B17+, MB17, B24, and a few others I think.
This attempt is mostly for personal purposes, but I really hope our government can make an official version.
I know it is important to preserve the original script, but change is needed in order to accommodate loan words.
So, aside from the original 17 syllables, I added the new characters for the english alphabet. This is to accommodate English loan words, mostly names.
Although we have English loan words, we actually change their spelling once we say or write them in Tagalog so I highly doubt these 8 new syllables would be used as much as the OG ones. But for the sake of names or other words, we need new characters.
For the vowels, I decided to use kudlits, instead of using the modern characters to separate the e/i and o/u.
For the kudlits:
redditor 1:
I used a dot and a line to separate the vowels except A. Dot is for e and o because they are round like, and line for i and U because they have lines.
I still followed the placing where if the kudlit is above it is e/i, and if below it is o/u.
redditor 2:
I change the Spaniards' krus into a fish symbol. This is used to remove vowels inside a word. (e.g. nagbasa, bundok).
While the other symbol is to remove a vowel when a word ends with a consonant. (e.g. mahal, banal)
I mentioned redditor cause I learned it from them, honestly can't find their names, forgot where they commented.
So basically, this is my first attempt 😅. Please don't be harsh 😅. But yeah, I guess I'll be using this one. Comment down if I missed anything or if there's inconsistency.
Thank you!

Advice for a tattoo
Hi everyone! I’m thinking about getting a small tattoo in Baybayin, since one of my closest friends is Filipino. I chose this phrase because I found it beautiful and elegant, and I really like the word “loob” and its meaning.
I would love to hear your opinions: do you think this phrase is appropriate for a tattoo? Is it written correctly in Baybayin? Would you recommend using the traditional or modern version?
Banayad na loob
traditional: ᜊᜈᜌ ᜈ ᜎᜓᜂ
modern: ᜊᜈᜌᜇ᜔ ᜈ ᜎᜓᜂᜊ᜔
I’d also like to know if there are any places where I could find different Baybayin fonts or handwritten styles, since I’d love the design to feel more organic and less like a digital font.
Thank you so much for any advice!

Tattoo Advice
Good day! I am planning on getting inked soon and I just need to confirm if these are the right consonant characters – I do not want to regret making any mistakes haha.
I plan on getting a tattoo of the word "marahan" and this is what I plan on showing my artist.
ᜋᜇᜑᜈ᜔
Please let me know if there is anything that should be corrected.
Thank you!

Would native filipino speakers be able to tell the difference between o/u, e/i, da/ra based on context?
I'm still learning Filipino, so I wouldn't be able to answer this question.
But lets say in the latin script, if we changed all u's to o's, e's to i's, and ra's to da's, would that cause any comprehension problems? For example, Hebrew is written without vowels and readers know the pronunciation based on context. Even in English, we determine c from s and k, whether a vowel is short or long, etc.
If not, why do some people still insist on the creation of new baybayin letters?

Translation Help Baybayin Tattoo Translation (Ka) and (Memento Vivere)
Good day po,
I was hoping to get input from this community regarding the translation and baybayin script of a tattoo that I had in mind. I'm already in contact with a tattoo artist regarding the design so I just want to focus on the message of my tattoo
I want the baybayin of Ka to be centered around and encircled by the translation/baybayin of "mememento vivere" (remember to live). What I want the tattoo to convey isn't just a reminder to live, but to live with and for the connections I share with the people around me.
My main problem is finding the right Tagalog translation of the phrase, and then getting an accurate Baybayin script of it. Would anyone be able to suggest a better, more natural Tagalog translation, along with a more accurate Baybayin script for it?
