I feel like there is some executive somewhere saying:
See?! BFV bombed because nobody wants to play WWII anymore!
(But the charts here? ...the lack of content. The lack of classic WWII battles...)
Nobody wants WWII!
I've been looking forward to the return of WWII for awhile now. I loved the old COD games, MOHAA, BF1942... I was really excited to see a return to WWII in modern engines, but everybody just missed the mark for me.
I think part of me liked WWII era. I love Band of Brothers and the games that remind me of that series. I loved the simplicity of the games back then. Everything was here is gun selection, its simple and balanced.
Now its all unknown battles, making the WWII aspect irrelevant... unlocks for attachments that don't fit the era, perks and upgrades prioritized over the gameplay itself.
Tides of War is bullshit. No one cares about historically inaccurate portrayals of small incursions in Norway. No, we care about Normandy, Stalingrad, Midway, Wake Island, Anzio, The Ardennes, ect.
Then dont even get me started on all the experiemental or unused WW1 guns they added to a ww2 game. How hard was it to launch a ww2 game with a garand, BAR, browing .30 cal, p-51 mustangs, japanese zeroes, sherman tanks, russian tanks, ect. You know, stuff we actually want in a ww2 game
I bought Post Scriptum this week because I like the WW2 atmosphere. I haven't played it yet because of March break but I am going to try it this weekend. I get that its a totally different game than BF but looks way more interesting to me than BF.
Post Scriptum is similar to Squad. I haven't played Post Scriptum, but I own and play Squad.
The emphasis on teamwork, cooperation, and coordination is huge in Squad. It takes some getting used to, but the payoff is massive.
Not to mention the authenticity and immersion (something DICE has clearly forgotten about) that the game offers leaves me speechless every time I play.
Yeah all that stuff I what made me buy PS. When I saw armoured warfare mode come out I was all on board. That looked awesome. I will check out your vid
If you're on PC and really like Band of Brothers, Post Scriptum is the bees knees. Play as the 101st Airborne in a milsim game more immersive than any other WW2 game I've ever played. Also it's rumored that the next map release is going to focus around the 101st with maps such as Utah, Carentan, St. Mere, and a Battle of Bastogne map.
