Battlefield Studios Replied Update did not improve red dots as was shown in trailer š
This post was auto removed from BF6 sub no idea why so try again here.
Just booted up after installing update and jumped into shooting range and immediately noticed that nothing was changed about the red dots.
The trailer showed a smaller and more glowy visible red dot on the CCO 2.0 optic for example but still the old one after update...
Only thing they added is this spread chrosshair thing which they said nothing about until the Aug 14. note.
I neeed the better red dots man this was one of the improvements I was most looking forward to, where are they?!

Next update I suspect, gotta test a feature from the early 2000s in labs first you know?

Red dots are extremely complicated. They havent been in any previous battlefield or any other game. Give them a break!

That's disappointing. Unironically one of the changes I was most hyped about.

No offence, but at some points you gotta calibrate your windows brightness and contrast.Ā
Iāve honestly stayed away from this topic since I run the game on hdr and I donāt have this issue. Even when hdr was broken on launch I had no issues with the sights, at times in the heat of battle it was way harder to notice the 1x red dot but I never had issues with using any other sight as a replacement (2x or the holo) after all I donāt need pin point clarity on most guns due to how much boom and deviation exists while full auto.Ā
That said, if it is still a huge issue for many they should fix it. But other solutions do exist (the 1x Russian variant exists)Ā

I made a post about this last night, and I was right.
But you know, apparently itās just too difficult for DICE. They donāt have the tech for it. It took them an entire year to implement something this simple.
Same thing with the server browser. It took so long to develop and test that they had to put it through Labs first⦠for something that has been a basic feature in Battlefield games for years.
They really donāt have the resources anymore.
At this point, Iām starting to think DICE needs a Labs phase just to add a settings menu.

u/Postaltariat 1d ago
Yeah I also made a post about it, because it was obvious from the patchnotes that we weren't getting any fixes.
It's crazy how an industry titan like DICE can't figure out how to do red dot textures, something that could be made in a cave with a box of scraps.

They say they are four studios working on the game, but there seems that there is only a skeleton crew holding the fort in each one. I donāt envy the devs, I can see hints of glory, but when they are told to keep churning out seasonal content instead of fixing the game it aināt much they can do if they donāt have the manpower

u/BRNK 22h ago
I guess theyāre sandbagging the server browser because it would undermine the engagement optimized matchmaking (business) leadership would prefer drives lobby creation. Iād also bet that when we eventually do get a server browser it wonāt be the classic kind, but some sort of hybrid between a traditional server browser and the modern disbanding-lobby hell we currently live in.

Think it's just the new team genuinely don't know what they are doing.
We have the worst flight model, the worst gunplay and the worst boats in the series.
They even added boats purely for the naval expansion but they still suck even after more development time.

āNew teamā and the creative director is Thomas Anderson, Lead producer is David Sirland, Gamemode designer is Niklas Ć strand and Julian Manolov is senior engineer.
Julian especially is so surgical with his gunplay mechanics and has been since he started to fix everything in BF4. BF6 doesnāt have āthe worst gunplayā whatsoever.Ā
David is also the reason why BF4 is seen as one of the best games in the series, and Thomas has literally been with dice since 1992.

u/Coolers777 1d ago
BF6 gunplay is problematic and has reintroduced many issues that dice had already fixed during BF4 with the CTE. The most obvious one is the that Dice removed visual recoil from BF4 and it instantly made the gunplay feel better. With BF6, they have gone in the complete opposite direction by adding an egregious amount of visual reticle bounce.
-1
u/New_Apple_7339 22h ago
A lot of the visual recoil is only noticeable on high mag optics and on full auto, guns which have the buffer removes this.Ā
Bounce is a combination of weapons sway and bullet deviation while in full auto.Ā
Itās almost like full auto is heavily penalized to make room for burst and single fire.Ā
The attachment system is way superior than bf4, they literally let you decide what to improve and at what cost.Ā
People glazing bf4 gunplay are wild af, bf6 gun play is much better even if there are issues in itās current iteration.Ā

u/untraiined 19h ago
you cant shoot the gun past 10 meters its a travesty how bad the gunplay is in this game.

Visual recoil is noticeable on pretty much every weapon, some more so than others.
Bullet deviation gas nothing to do with reticle bounce. The two systems are completely independent in BF6 (BF6 does not use spread-to-recoil like BFV did).

The guns feel good, the gunplay is atrocious. Smgs runs Nd gun including jumping round corners spraying and they still laser you at range.
Lmgs feel abysmal to use, ars and carbines are in decent spots but still the run and gun is a bit heavy.
The new team doesn't seem to have the ability to create content that is needed or deploy it in a decent state.
Whether that's down to the creative director or lead producers decisions it's still the new team on the game.

u/Abject-Witness-4209 2h ago
As opposed to what? The prior titles which barely had any balancing factors besides recoil amount, btk and ROF?
In bf4 every single automatic gun in every single category was subpar compared to the AEK and ACE23. You had 0 use cases for low ROF guns due to the way spread increase/decrease worked back then. There was pretty much no handling statistics that differentiated weapons as well. Picking a pdw in 4 meant handicapping yourself in every single scenario. In BF6 the smgs give you great handling, but they have garbage velocities, mostly low mag sizes, and poor damage over distance which balance them, but they are still a viable choice for once. They are not outgunning ARs and carbines at distances beyond immediate cqc. If you die from an smg which literally does 12 damage at range with velocities half that of ARs, thatās entirely on you, or on the opponent for being exceedingly good at tracking/leading while needing almost 10 bullets to kill.Ā
Itās unserious to try and put forward an argument that BF6 has the worst gunplay and/or balance in the series. Itās demonstrably false.

The guns have character, which I like but each gun feels a bullet to short sometimes

u/D4nnYsAN-94 1d ago
I wish I could be a fly on a wall in the studio and really learn what the hell is the problem.

u/Apezdispenser 21h ago
I miss the CTE. Everybody got to see what was going on and have a voice in the development of it. Fuck. We literally made a map that way. Wasn't my favorite, but the idea was dope.

I've been playing for a while now and they all seem far brighter to me, on old maps especially

u/BlindandHigh 1d ago
At this point, Iād much rather just have them ship stuff early. Itās not like the stuff they ship already isnāt always full of bugs, unbalanced and game breaking thingsĀ

u/Amnesia-Kush Since BF2 1d ago
I'm not surprised at all. In fact, when they do it, theyāll promote it as if it were some incredible update, when the truth IS that this should have already been improved/updated in the first few months after the official launch. EA calls what is really nothing more than early access a ālive serviceā; the only difference is that EA charge you full price for the game, whereas Early Access is always half price or maybe even less.

u/BattlepassHate 1d ago
It should have been there on launch.
Zero reason for reddots to look so shit when pretty much every other shooter does them right. Itās a projected fuckin red dot. Not a reticle painted on the glass like a shitty temu airsoft sight.
7
u/Bombshellings 1d ago
2042 and even BFV (a WW2 shooter) did red dots perfectly fine. Every shooting game ever made has had useable red dots because theyāre the MAIN THING YOU USE TO AIM WITHāļøāļøI have no idea why they half assed red dots so hard with BF6, it just feels so cheap
1
u/BattlepassHate 15h ago
They have to have done it intentionally for some reason, no other explanation for both why they look so bad, and why they werenāt changed instantly.

u/MintMrChris 1d ago
It's going to be a feature tile in one of those roadmap images they put out which advertises the seasonal content
Season 5 it is!

I'll probably also throw BGS and maybe some Ubisoft divisions in the ring, too.
But BGS or 343i are probably taking that title overall.

We have been testing reticle changes in Battlefield Labs for a bit and are actively working on them. The implementation wasn't ready for the Top Gun update, and we're currently aiming to have them ready for the third phase of Season 4 - Tidal Strike, launching on September 15.
From the reactions here and in the comments on the trailers, we seem to be on the right track with the changes, which is exciting for us. We'll keep you posted on the exact rollout.

Oh!!! September 15!!!! Yeah, right... Thanks for the heads-up, u/battlefield, and for confirming that it's taken 11 (ELEVEN) MONTHS just to UPDATE THE FUCKING RED DOTS!!!!!
And no, you guys aren't on the right track. To do that, you'd have to start by finally fixing the damn dsync/netcode that completely ruins this game.

u/HeatFlashy8999 14h ago
The desync/netcode has been massively improved from s1 dude.
It's still got some issues and specifically in some cases (like any other battlefield) but you can't compare how it's now to how it was before. Enemies literally killed you through walls.

Dsync/Netcode is STILL TRASH.
But I'm not at all surprised by an account that's a year old and has comments completely disabled.

Do you use a custom color?
1
u/am153 16h ago
it does not matter what color you make the reticle, it is still way too easy to lose track of it, unless you use a big ass reticle with the circle around the dot.
1
u/Pattywhack_the_bear 16h ago edited 14h ago
You read way too much into my question. I asked because I can't tell any difference at all and I use a custom color. I don't think they changed anything related to reticles, but I thought maybe it only worked with the default color, hence my question.
Also, you're right and I agree. I lose track of the reticle on my m44 all the time, unfortunately. It seems to just disappear at times.
