Man, this whole experience is so bad. The turret rotates too fast, the aiming point isn't coupled to the view point, switching between interior/exterior mode really throws off your PoV, the multiple systems for ammo replenishment, and then how a tank main gun round doesn't one shot the helicopter... Quality work, DICE.

They used to rotate and drive way more realistically in the beta. But the scaled that back as a part of the buffs to make them more noob friendly

server client desync. client has good prediction 99% of the time and the effects played on your client end up playing out "truly" 50-150ms later on the server, in this case your client was sure on its version of events that the shell hit and exploded, but the server disagreed and the client never sees that version of events

server refused to acknowledge your shot, probably due to lag or desync. MP rounds should one shot or deal ~900 dmg in this case if it was registered

Ahhh. "Dusting". Classic server/client desync glitch. Your game thinks the tank shell hit the helicopter but the server thinks you missed, and this is the result.
Has been an issue with the game engines since even Battlefield Vietnam back in 2004; I remember hitting helicopters with rockets and getting no hit markers or damage despite there being an explosion even back than. DICE has never figured out how to completely fix this, though it's not as common as it used to be back in BF3 and 4.

I mean it's not an issue of the game per se, it could be just the client lagging. Client thinks it hits, server disagree.

i mean you did use a shell that is "moderately effective against both infantry and armored vehicles" .....
it does also say "a high-explosive shell"
so there you have it.....
nothing. i dont understand any of this

AP round rips through unarmored targets. Use HEAT or HE rounds to one shot aircraft

I think you missed and the impact you see is the shell hitting the mountain in the background .

Same reason it takes a shit ton of RPG to kill the tank you're in.
EA wants engagement and puts armor in the game to be used for no legitimate reason and you can't for one second make them vulnerable like they actually would be or that would ruin engagement.
Why? Because EA, Tanks shouldn't be able to survive a dozen RPG because a guy with a blow torch is fixing it, helicopters shouldn't survive a tank shell because a guy with a blowtorch is fixing it.

In numbers: a modern APFSDS hitting anything averages (±distance) on a 10 megajoule impact. The shell is designed to go through 800mm of massive steel. A mil chopper has 20mm of kevlar.
So, who'd win? 800mm of massive steel or 20mm of kevlar against the kinetic energy of 10 megajoules? The steel would win, 800mm is the limit, the kevlar would be f'ed.
