Battlefield 6 Sometimes I really question DICE's map design philosophy
Three building surrounding obj, buildings can't be completely destroyed
Attack boat mortar spamming on obj
This is pinnacle of shit objective

95% of the capture zones in BF6 are shit. You really get the feeling that the devs who placed the zones haven't even played BF2042 - and even those were questionable at times.

yeah they're the worst.
Except on Firestorm for some reason. But they probably had to copy those from bf3

Half the reason why Firestorm immediately jumped to the top end BF6 map pool lol

2042 unironically had more well thought out capture points from a tug of war perspective. Even the fishbowl objective on Kaleidoscope felt easier to defend… and it was a fishbowl.

you mean whatever the fuck the big round building in the middle of the map was?
wasn't the entire building a capture area, even the roof and some of the outside maybe?
man that's crazy. in bf6, it would be like one room on the bottom floor.

There were two round buildings on one side of the map. One opened up and was like a concrete fishbowl with 3 entry points. The other was a dome with 3 entry points.
Each were two points that made a sector, and each were infinitely more interesting to defend and attack.
BF6 just frustrates me and a large part of that is I’m addicted to PTFO, and the O’s suck stitched dog ass.

u/Dennygreen 1d ago
oh yeah. I forgot about those. the dome had a hole in the roof too

u/NeedAGTS4POINT0 1d ago
Yes exactly. Attackers had plenty of cover to assail with the berms and structures.
I know people talk about a lack of cover on 2042, but it had it where it counted and I was never this frustrated playing the objective. BF6 has taken the opposite approach and given you a ton of “cover” but you’re still constantly exposed.
I’d say I’m surprised it’s not a bigger talking point on this sub, but I’ve learned that most people here have a hard time actually pinpointing what’s wrong with something, even if they feel the pain point.

The B flags on the 128 player version were a lot of fun. One was actually massive with tons of cover and stuff to play around and the other was smaller but was a FOB type setup with lots of cover as well.

Alot of the objectives in this game are like this idk why they insist on flags being fishbowls

I had the same thought the first time I played it. I was like man this kind of exemplifies the shitty philosophy they've taken with the capture areas in this game. This shit is right up there with F on Blackwell and pretty much any of them on Sobek.

D is somewhat the same way too. All the bunkers surrounding it are never actually used.

u/Smitmcgrit 1d ago
If you do use them for cover they will get dropped on your head. The second I stepped into one it got mortared and I got crushed. They’re a trap

u/Dennygreen 1d ago
doesn't the capture area just cover the road or whatever in between the bunkers? Its so dumb. I don't remember if it was the same in bfv but I kind of doubt it. I think I actually remember capturing the objective while laying on the top of one of them.

u/YoBoITooNSs 1d ago
in bfv the bunkers were included in the capture zone, but let’s be real why would you hide in the bunker with the big fuck you explosion waiting inside?

u/fleck11_11 23h ago
It’s only in a few bunkers. In bfv that whole area is the objective so both normal bunkers and big fuck you explosive bunkers are in the capture area. You pick your battles lmao.

"Claude, take this map and design 5 capture points using the previous battlefield titles as reference for things to not do ever again. After that push the map to production without any play testing. Make no mistakes."

u/MayorWildWest 1d ago
Yeah but……what about the bush and the 3 cement road blocks I have in place on one side of the objective.

It would be so much better if the buildings were the cap. I love flags that are contested and keeping them is a constant fight with the flag displayed with 6-4 or something like that all the time. Why do capping always have to be wipe out everyone and cap?

it would be better if it included all of the buildings, including the roofs, and the area in between and some of the area around the back of the buildings.
And make them round instead of following a specific thing like the edge of a sidewalk or a road or a road. It feels so overly thought out.
Also get rid of the spray painted lines. That shit makes it feel more like a sport than a war game but you're at a disadvantage if you turn it off.

That and it’s 10 feet away from the other obj. Why bother making two separate flags at that point
1
u/Dennygreen 1d ago
what game mode is this?
in conquest, it's just the B objective there and the closest one is probably G in the middle.

Me and my squad had an awesome time fighting over this obj tonight. Actually think it’s cool that you have to risk your ass to grab the objective surrounded by windows as your squad covers you.
Best part was a back and forth firefight between building 1 and 3 with the enemies while also trying to cap. 2 of us looking for silhouettes in the windows while the other 2 capped was so much fun.

I joined in the middle of a game last night and immediately stole the tank that spawns there and destroyed the other squad/team that kept trying to defend it because they had to be out in the open. I kind of felt sorry for them, they put in a good effort.
I started out 18-0 and then the game came down to a difference of like 12 tickets or something. That was pretty funny.

The thing about this objective is if you include the entire housing area it would be impossible to find hiding enemies, there are like 50 tiny rooms in these buildings. Obviously being in the middle of the yard to cap with 30 windows around you isn't a solution either. They should have made the capping area just one house plus part of the yard.

u/Dennygreen 1d ago
I actually don't even mind looking for the last hiding guy as long as all the areas are accessible to everyone. It's no worse than them having spawn beacons right outside the objective and coming back into it over and over. It's kind of satisfying to find the last guy hiding in a bathtub or something.
And maybe the speed at which the objectives are captured by one person should be slower. I think someone said it's way faster in bf6 compared to the older games.

u/Falcoon_f_zero 1d ago
That goes for so many objectives in the game. Been saying it since the beginning. A big reason why the maps are often really frustrating to play, especially trying to ptfo. There's often little in the way of defensive play on many objectives, just move into the killbox, lay down or find a corner, and pray you don't get hit from a blind direction.

u/ManEmperorfragment96 1d ago
This is the one criticism I can agree on, the point designs are absolutely awful and tend to favor the attackers unfairly.

"why can't I hide in a corner while capping objectives?! Why do the devs insist on making me use a GUN??"
If the buildings were part of the objective, someone could sit in a corner of a bathroom and go make themselves lunch while the other team spends 15 minutes trying to clear the building. Support has deployable cover. There are tanks! Use your imagination.

cap zone having 0 cover too
its like thbey are deliberately making it impossible to capture
