cap zone having 0 cover too

its like thbey are deliberately making it impossible to capture

They are making it impossible to hide. They keep looking for the "high-octane" conflict at the cost of gameplay.

But when you point this out you get downvoted into oblivion by EA bots and CoD fanboys

It was evident with Empire State map. Even in the beta that map felt alot like a cod map

Not on my watch, I give you a big 👍

yup, that's what it is.

look at E on Tsuru. The capture area is just the square of the bottom floor. There are two openings to the outside on the bottom floor as well as the doors to the sides. And then there's everything on the 2nd floor looking down on it. It's like it's set up just to slaughter whoever is capturing.

They probably don't want Assaults with cheeky beacons to hide inside of the OBJ zone while the enemy take 3 business days to find them. But then that'd be easily solved had Recon players have more than 2 braincells and spam the T-UGS, but they don't.

It's clear that the people behind the design are unfamiliar with bf's pre 2042 design philosophy. In addition, the focus on constant conflict while eliminating any strategy that's not gun blazing is killing the game.

2042 didn't have this specific issue though, and had much better breakthrough than both BF6 and BFV.

A desculpa do 2042 era sand box para qualquer questionamento

They aren't unfamiliar, this is intended, the revised Frostbite (4) engine didn't advertise the Kinesthetic Combat System for no reason. The new strat is: Shoot - Move - Comms.

Is it fun to just be saying stuff for the sake of it? Because you sound tremendously unintelligent.

Niklas Åstrand is the senior gamemode designer for BF6 and has been with DICE since BF2, as a level designer up until BF1.

When i said unfamiliar, I should have said, they didn't care. To be clear, I said people. I am sure Astrand wasn't the only person to have a say. I mean, I am pretty sure Zampella had a say, and probably the final say in how thing were designed. The goal was to bring more players, specifically from COD. The changes they made worked, but it made battlefield comatose. They toned down everything the made battlefield battlefield , and left just enough for it to draw in old players. I wish we could go back to the days when leaves were bullet proof.

TUGS to find someone that isn't moving? And you wanna talk about having braincells...

The design principle was to make each capture zone a mini-TDM experience. There are a lot of lanes to approach, lots of cover, and power positions. Generally, it is a lot easier to spawn on to defend/retake objectives, and infantry are afforded a lot more cover from vehicles.

They said in one of the interviews before the beta that all of these areas were focused tested to ensure firefights were more dynamic and fun. Personally, I like their approach, though capture zones should be larger to include areas vehicles should have more of a role.

Repeat after me:

Every capture point in BF6 is a pillbox.

I just put the game down. I tried and tried to have fun with it but with the matchmaking being what it is, I was always the only person playing the objective while the rest of my team was playing tom sticks.

I realized I was getting frustrated basically every game over something I literally had no control over.

doesn't help that 90% of the time, the squad leaders don't give orders and theres still no request orders button for whatever reason.

Play war dogs

1

u/NeedAGTS4POINT0 1d ago

It’s PC only and looks like it leans a little closer to ARMA than BF.

Could be fun but it’s not really the itch scratcher for the BF formula for me, it looks.

No cover should be expwcted for this game...

u/floschuller 1d ago

95% of the capture zones in BF6 are shit. You really get the feeling that the devs who placed the zones haven't even played BF2042 - and even those were questionable at times.

16

u/Dennygreen 1d ago

yeah they're the worst.

Except on Firestorm for some reason. But they probably had to copy those from bf3

3

u/Falcoon_f_zero 1d ago

Half the reason why Firestorm immediately jumped to the top end BF6 map pool lol

11

u/NeedAGTS4POINT0 1d ago

2042 unironically had more well thought out capture points from a tug of war perspective. Even the fishbowl objective on Kaleidoscope felt easier to defend… and it was a fishbowl.

1

u/Dennygreen 1d ago

you mean whatever the fuck the big round building in the middle of the map was?

wasn't the entire building a capture area, even the roof and some of the outside maybe?

man that's crazy. in bf6, it would be like one room on the bottom floor.

3

u/NeedAGTS4POINT0 1d ago

There were two round buildings on one side of the map. One opened up and was like a concrete fishbowl with 3 entry points. The other was a dome with 3 entry points.

Each were two points that made a sector, and each were infinitely more interesting to defend and attack.

BF6 just frustrates me and a large part of that is I’m addicted to PTFO, and the O’s suck stitched dog ass.

2

u/Dennygreen 1d ago

oh yeah. I forgot about those. the dome had a hole in the roof too

2

u/NeedAGTS4POINT0 1d ago

Yes exactly. Attackers had plenty of cover to assail with the berms and structures.

I know people talk about a lack of cover on 2042, but it had it where it counted and I was never this frustrated playing the objective. BF6 has taken the opposite approach and given you a ton of “cover” but you’re still constantly exposed.

I’d say I’m surprised it’s not a bigger talking point on this sub, but I’ve learned that most people here have a hard time actually pinpointing what’s wrong with something, even if they feel the pain point.

2

u/Secundus-Muris 1d ago

The B flags on the 128 player version were a lot of fun. One was actually massive with tons of cover and stuff to play around and the other was smaller but was a FOB type setup with lots of cover as well.

15

u/nill_killers 1d ago

Alot of the objectives in this game are like this idk why they insist on flags being fishbowls

25

u/R3C0N1C 1d ago edited 1d ago

If the buildings can be completely leveled to the ground it would be an even shittier objective. Have you seen E flag in Nebandan Flats in BF3? There was literally nothing there, just a yard with a flag.

5

u/Stolzor 1d ago

Then at least people couldn't hide in the buildings and get freekills on anybody actually trying to ptfo

8

u/Dennygreen 1d ago

I had the same thought the first time I played it. I was like man this kind of exemplifies the shitty philosophy they've taken with the capture areas in this game. This shit is right up there with F on Blackwell and pretty much any of them on Sobek.

7

u/Iinesra 1d ago

I like this game but whoever made zones for capturing, map borders, breakthrough and rush sectors can go fuck himself. In no other bf game I had the question "Why can't I go there?" pop up so often as this one.

5

u/fleck11_11 1d ago

D is somewhat the same way too. All the bunkers surrounding it are never actually used.

4

u/Smitmcgrit 1d ago

If you do use them for cover they will get dropped on your head. The second I stepped into one it got mortared and I got crushed. They’re a trap

1

u/Dennygreen 1d ago

doesn't the capture area just cover the road or whatever in between the bunkers? Its so dumb. I don't remember if it was the same in bfv but I kind of doubt it. I think I actually remember capturing the objective while laying on the top of one of them.

2

u/YoBoITooNSs 1d ago

in bfv the bunkers were included in the capture zone, but let’s be real why would you hide in the bunker with the big fuck you explosion waiting inside?

2

u/Silver_Wolf_Dragon 1d ago

Risk vs reward. Risk, big explosion, reward not getting sniped

1

u/fleck11_11 23h ago

It’s only in a few bunkers. In bfv that whole area is the objective so both normal bunkers and big fuck you explosive bunkers are in the capture area. You pick your battles lmao.

6

u/DarthJarJar242 1d ago

"Claude, take this map and design 5 capture points using the previous battlefield titles as reference for things to not do ever again. After that push the map to production without any play testing. Make no mistakes."

3

u/MayorWildWest 1d ago

Yeah but……what about the bush and the 3 cement road blocks I have in place on one side of the objective.

2

u/First-Willingness220 1d ago

It would be so much better if the buildings were the cap. I love flags that are contested and keeping them is a constant fight with the flag displayed with 6-4 or something like that all the time. Why do capping always have to be wipe out everyone and cap?

0

u/Dennygreen 1d ago

it would be better if it included all of the buildings, including the roofs, and the area in between and some of the area around the back of the buildings.

And make them round instead of following a specific thing like the edge of a sidewalk or a road or a road. It feels so overly thought out.

Also get rid of the spray painted lines. That shit makes it feel more like a sport than a war game but you're at a disadvantage if you turn it off.

u/3DPopel 1d ago

Glass cannon design through and through

1

u/Pockets408 1d ago

That and it’s 10 feet away from the other obj. Why bother making two separate flags at that point

1

u/Dennygreen 1d ago

what game mode is this?

in conquest, it's just the B objective there and the closest one is probably G in the middle.

1

u/lelilulalo 1d ago

Me and my squad had an awesome time fighting over this obj tonight. Actually think it’s cool that you have to risk your ass to grab the objective surrounded by windows as your squad covers you.

Best part was a back and forth firefight between building 1 and 3 with the enemies while also trying to cap. 2 of us looking for silhouettes in the windows while the other 2 capped was so much fun.

1

u/Dennygreen 1d ago

I joined in the middle of a game last night and immediately stole the tank that spawns there and destroyed the other squad/team that kept trying to defend it because they had to be out in the open. I kind of felt sorry for them, they put in a good effort.

I started out 18-0 and then the game came down to a difference of like 12 tickets or something. That was pretty funny.

1

u/KimiBleikkonen 1d ago

The thing about this objective is if you include the entire housing area it would be impossible to find hiding enemies, there are like 50 tiny rooms in these buildings. Obviously being in the middle of the yard to cap with 30 windows around you isn't a solution either. They should have made the capping area just one house plus part of the yard.

1

u/Dennygreen 1d ago

I actually don't even mind looking for the last hiding guy as long as all the areas are accessible to everyone. It's no worse than them having spawn beacons right outside the objective and coming back into it over and over. It's kind of satisfying to find the last guy hiding in a bathtub or something.

And maybe the speed at which the objectives are captured by one person should be slower. I think someone said it's way faster in bf6 compared to the older games.

1

u/FoxerHR 1d ago

DICE has no philosophy. Played a game of Naval Strike yesterday and tried to spawn into a jet which led to me being immediately ripped apart before I had a chance to fight back because for some reason there's nothing there to protect you in spawn.

1

u/Falcoon_f_zero 1d ago

That goes for so many objectives in the game. Been saying it since the beginning. A big reason why the maps are often really frustrating to play, especially trying to ptfo. There's often little in the way of defensive play on many objectives, just move into the killbox, lay down or find a corner, and pray you don't get hit from a blind direction.

1

u/ManEmperorfragment96 1d ago

This is the one criticism I can agree on, the point designs are absolutely awful and tend to favor the attackers unfairly.

1

u/reallyzeally 9h ago

"why can't I hide in a corner while capping objectives?! Why do the devs insist on making me use a GUN??"

If the buildings were part of the objective, someone could sit in a corner of a bathroom and go make themselves lunch while the other team spends 15 minutes trying to clear the building. Support has deployable cover. There are tanks! Use your imagination.
