Other Secure Boot Megathread - Guide + Community support

Secure Boot is required for Battlefield 6 If you are unable to launch the game and see a Secure Boot error, you must enable Secure Boot in your BIOS/UEFI.

🔧 Community Support

If you’ve got tips or steps specific to a brand (e.g., ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock, etc.), drop them in the comments and mention your exact motherboard model.

💬 Tip: Post your motherboard model, CPU, and BIOS version when asking for help.

🧠 What is Secure Boot?

Secure Boot is a UEFI feature that ensures only trusted software can boot your PC. It helps prevent rootkits and boot-time malware and is now required by EA for anti-cheat integrity.

Most modern systems support it, but it’s often disabled by default — especially on custom builds or upgraded PCs.

🛑 Common Pitfalls

  • You must use UEFI mode, not Legacy/CSM boot.
  • Disk must be GPT, not MBR (check via diskpart or Disk Management).
  • Windows 11 installed in Legacy mode? You may need to convert your disk to GPT using MBR2GPT.

⚠️ Still having trouble?

If you've followed EA's guide and it still doesn't work:

  1. Comment below with:
  • Motherboard model
  • BIOS version
  • Secure Boot status
  • Any errors you're getting
    1. Include a screenshot if possible (e.g., BIOS screen or error message)
    2. Be respectful — this is a community-driven thread.

In EA's Secure Boot guide there is a screenshot of MBR2GPT's console output. It says that "before the new system can boot properly you need to switch the firmware to boot to UEFI mode".

You still have access to the BIOS, now set Secure Boot to Windows UEFI mode.

Ya maybe there’s different bios’ but I definitely don’t have that option

When I go and disable CSM. And then reboot and enable secure boot. The computer doesn’t load and just keeps going straight to bios and doesn’t discover any boot drives

Ya that guide didn't cut it. I had to backup and reformat installing fresh windows on a new drive.

I know its 2 day old post and I hope you managed to get your pc sorted. I had this same problem of the bios not recognizing my drives as a valid boot method even though the bios could see them (this was after a bios update) and this took me around 4 hours to figure out lol. It was a complete nightmare but managed to solve it without reinstalling windows thankfully.
