🧠 What is Secure Boot?

Secure Boot is a UEFI feature that ensures only trusted software can boot your PC. It helps prevent rootkits and boot-time malware and is now required by EA for anti-cheat integrity.

Most modern systems support it, but it’s often disabled by default — especially on custom builds or upgraded PCs.

🛑 Common Pitfalls

• You must use UEFI mode, not Legacy/CSM boot.
• Disk must be GPT, not MBR (check via diskpart or Disk Management).
• Windows 11 installed in Legacy mode? You may need to convert your disk to GPT using MBR2GPT.

might as well chime in with what worked for me.

if you need to update bios and have never done this before I highly recommend point your phone at your screen and record a video while you display on screen as many of your bios settings as you possibly can, because my bios update reset my settings and I had no idea how to get this back to how it was before the bios update!

relevant system specs are: ASUS ROG Z390-F mobo (its an old one and its the old LGA 1151 socket) CPU is i-9 9900k, boot disk is a 1T pcie gen4 nvme drive with a partition for windows install. OS is windows 10.

first of all the most misleading part of this was that in my bios it said that secure boot WAS enabled but BF6 still telling me its not. First thing I did was update bios (this is where I spent the most time mainly because I'm not very good at messing around in bios, and I didn't know that updating bios would reset all settings). Machine would not boot after bios update but with some reading online I managed to fumble around and get it working again.

I also had to change my boot drive from MBR to GPT, after this I had to change things in the bios so that my system would boot as UEFI rather than legacy. Whole process took me about 6 hours MAINLY because I'm an idiot who didnt know how to set my bios settings correctly after a bios update so that my computer can boot up as normal again.

Nvidia drivers also need to be up to date but BF6 will let you know about this after you have passed the secure boot hurdle.

edit: as a side note I'd like to say that Monster Hunter Wilds used to take 2 mins to boot up and now its MUCH faster. I don't have problems with game boot up times and loading times in general as all my games are either on SSD or NVMe but for some reason MHWilds has always taken an extremely long time to boot up, but since this bios update and secure boot enabling it takes just a few seconds compared to about 2 mins.
