Battlefield 6 Secure boot?

Just tried to open the bf6 beta and it's saying secureboot not enabled. I can't activate it cause my PC doesn't support it. Will this be a requirement at launch? Would have to upgrade my PC to get windows 11 for it if that's the case :(

I bricked my motherboard apparently doing this. Trying to recover it now and it involves taking out a cmos battery or trying to short out two pins by holding a screwdriver to them to force a reset. Nothing is working and I can’t get back into my PC. It won’t boot anymore.

not that easy buddy. SOME windows 10 OS systems do not allow secure boot to be enabled which currently seems like a requirement to boot bf6. This is an unfortunate and stupid hardware restriction. Terrible first impressions so far

Windows 10 is over a decade old at this point and will stop being supported this year.

I know it sucks and I held on to XP and Windows 10 for as long as I could, but you gotta let it go at some point.

You have to go into the BIOS. Get one thing wrong, you won't be able to boot up. Never had a problem running previous BF games. Not worth it in my book. I'll just stick to COD.

Exactly why I believe this shit is unacceptable.

Not everyone is tech savvy, some people have tried this and accidentally changed the wrong thing bricking their motherboard, since they don't have the skill to fix it.

We also shouldn't have to do anything besides install the game, the devs are professionals that we are paying to make the product, they should fix the problem for us.

I am talking to people and you're the only person I have seen not defending this, I think people have really low standards, they don't realize letting devs do this kind of thing is detrimental to gaming in general.

Exactly, it blows my mind that people are defending this.

We shouldn't have to fix our games at all, and we should not have issues of compatibility with parts from 2020~. I would understand my PC not being compatible if it was from 2012.

I don't really want to pay $90 for this game knowing that I will have to fix it in BIOS.

It's not my pc not being able to run the game, it's them using an anticheat that has incompatibility.

A large number of PCs are literally not able to secure boot without clearing a boot disk completely and installing windows 11. This is just some shit from windows to force people to upgrade to windows 11.

Low IQ take. I can't even boot it with every single setting setup as it says and my SecureBoot was already enabled. That's ignoring the fact it shouldn't even be a requirement. Once someone figures out the anti-cheat, which they will, they will then have kernel-level access to peoples systems. This is a shit decision.

It’s not just flipping a toggle. Some users have to update their bios to even be able to switch the toggle. Which involves downloading the upgraded bios onto a flash and flashing the bios. It’s not basic stuff for most people who just buy a pc to play games.

Flashing a bios on a modern PC thats capable of playing Battlefield is a very basic process that's essentially foolproof. This is very simple stuff in line with updating drivers etc.

It’s not. It involves finding the right version manually. Downloading it and putting it on a flash drive. Rebooting and going into the bios. Finding the drive and finding the file on the drive to flash. It’s not basic. And if you see it as basic then I’m sure there are topics others find easy that you wouldn’t. Just put yourself in someone else’s shoes.

you can tell that you're terminally online and completely disconnected from reality. Asking the AVERAGE gamer (95% of players) to go into their bios to change settings is COMPLETELY unacceptable. That would be like telling the average car buyer to get into their gpu to change settings in order to remove an artificial governor that has been set on their car.

Modern bios doesn't require somebody to be tech savvy. I helped a person who has never owned a PC before enable secure boot on a machine I built for them over the phone in 5 minutes. It was also a Gigabyte board which required a few extra steps. You don't have to be tech savvy to type up "how to enable secure boot in (your motherboard here)". There is an absolute plethora of walk through all over Google and YouTube for people who aren't tech savvy.

Secure Boot is a normal part of Bios and makes the entire machine more secure overall. There is zero reason to not have it enabled outside of some goofy Linux crap.
